I’ll be visiting Japan over the New Year period, and was wondering on the best arcades for ST. I’ve done my research with T.Akiba’s site, but I had trouble narrowing down which ones to visit in Tokyo:

[]Mikado (Takadanobaba)

The old location in Shinjuku was where the 2on2 Mikado vids started appearing a few years ago. Now it’s moved to Takadanobaba. When MORE Amusements shut down, Mikado took over as the premier place for ST in Tokyo. Every Wednesday night it’s 500 yen for freeplay. Pretty sure this place will have the toughest comp.
[]HEY (Akihabara)
Well known arcade with 10yen for ST. Top players visit here occasionally (?)
[]Club Sega (Shinjuku)
Apparently this is where the X-Mania tournaments are held (edit: apparently not. See papasi’s post). Has a counterpart arcade in Akihabara close to HEY.
[]Las Vegas (Ikebukuro)
I see YouTube vids from this arcade occasionally. Seems that AE is popular here.

Game Spot Versus (Nishi-nippori)
Site of the recent Danisen versus battles. I’m curious about this arcade.
At the moment I’m planning on HEY and Mikado, but wasn’t sure if the others were also worth visiting since I only have a few days to spend in Tokyo.
I’ll also be heading to Kyoto, and a-cho seems the obvious place there. What about Osaka? Since Nagase UFO closed down recently, where have the top players switched to? I’ve heard of Avion, Montecarlo and Kouhatsu.
That’s about it for now, I’ll be visiting other areas too but playing ST in the big three cities will be enough.
