There was no hitbox adjustment on his rekkas in AE o.O.
lol…see I was gonna see if anyone was going to reply to that post negatively…If no one can answer my small ibuki question, then the long back n’ forth debate should be even more unacceptable…
But I don’t care about winning arguments that much, you guys do what you like I just love playing Street Fighter;-) and my favorite character got increased to moves I wanted since Vanilla!!!
I’m like a giddy little girl right now, video games have too much of a grip on my happiness;0(
Actually there was. Vanilla rekka - “Who’s this Bruce Lee Muther f***, I’m going to destroy him” , Super rekka - “Bruce Lee huh? not bad, I shall find a way around this” , AE rekka - " OMFG , Bruce Lee fuckin rekka bullshit, can’t do anything man, may aswell drop the stick, can’t even block? LOOK! I’m holding back, it’s not blocking?!!!"
My take on the Top bunch in no particular order. (Note, characters are not S tier, just slightly stronger)
Akuma - Still the jack of all trades, nerfs to major players means his nerfs are off set.
Sagat - Has some bad matches which may even get slightly worse. Strong because of gradual game changes across the board.
Ken - Does everything quite well, mix up game is decent, does nice damage, no stand out bad matches.
Viper - Will always be hard to play against. Mix up game top notch, good damage, give’s a lot of characters problems.
Characters who might sneak under the radar …
Sakura - Solid, seems to just always on the wrong side of greatness, could be a chance
E.Ryu - Very nice buffs, more untech’s, BIG damage, acceptable health and stun now, faster sweep and he’d be a no brainer.
Yun - Can’t believe this guy will drop so far, has the right ingredients to be great still.
Yun can convert any command grab into 200+…walks fast as hell…standing motherfucking medium punch still here…his standing light kick probably makes most of the people in this game cry. Dude ain’t S rank but he hopes you like dicks because he’s a pretty big one still
pretty much agree with highland on who is going to sneak under the radar. I already worry about screwing up with E. Ryu and I’m already scared of Sak as it is. Now I can’t hope EX Tatsu bugs?
^That sounds like a great list, but will Fei really drop out of top 5? I dunno. Either way, your logic is very sound…
lol…@ The Breaker, yeah, Yun was a pain for me as well, really have to goto training and learn that character or spar against a really good player.
Now I’m no expert on these characters but is there no chance of Honda and Balrog sneaking under the radar? Looks like they got some decent buffs
I kinda think the new tier list will look like this.
*A+ akuma, sagat
**A *viper, ken, seth, honda
B+ abel, rog ** ,cody, bison, juri, cammy, chun, makoto , gief, e.ryu, fei, guile, rufus, adon, hakan, hawk, oni, ryu, sakura, blanka, guy, yun, vega, sim
***B ****yang, **ibuki, ** dudley, **dan, deejay, rose, fuerte, gen, gouken, *
Can we keep what we think the top 5 in AE 2012 to ourselves, the game is not even out yet!!! Even Kim tweeted that there are HIDDEN buffs and nerfs in this game!!! So everyone’s basis for it is only half solid, the other still hidden, unless we get ppl from JP go here and tell us… then, by then I wouldn’t mind who’s top or not…
you go to a forum to post and listen to others’ opinions, right or wrong or uninformed or totally misguided
well some people just troll
Damage was one of the bigger issues for Fei. Since Super, his damage was just slightly above par and that really tipped him to S status… MK Flame Kick xx FADC xx HK CW did 280 damage for 2 bars and that could have been done as a sheer guess or anti-air for instance.
In 2012, his 2-bar damage will drop to 230 which is not at all impressive considering EX SRKs can typically do about 200ish for 1 bar. cr.MP nerf is going to take away a good chunk from his frame-trap damage as well. Throw in some buffs for other characters and now you’ve got a Fei that’s been bumped down to A or B+ at best. I can see him dropping from top 5, though he’ll definitely be in top 10.
I know but sometimes, people will go on about something and i just wanted to take discussion away from that at the very least until 10 days later when we have the game in our hands instead of full speculation, but sure, talk away about how Akuma is top, that the twins and fei will suck, how some people complain that they want some buffs back, and nerf this and nerf that and not realise how it ruins the game for everyone and then cry when they lose and they go to forums to say one thing about a character and they refuse to change their opinion of that said character, because they refuse to learn and adapt the changes each version brings.
That’s fine and I can take it, because that’s SRK for ya in a nutshell (at least in the SSFIV forums), but you won’t hear me talking about it until the update comes out.
Good day to you all…
i’m not going to say i agree or disagree with your thoughts, but:
check this
what else are we going to talk about in a topic…about…incoming…changes? we could talk about potential tech but that’s a dream
Whose EX.SRK are you talking about Ken’s, Gouki’s or E.Ryu’s? Because Ryu’s one only does 140 for more invul frames IIRC, the rest should do that kind of damage abeit that it costs more in recovery and all.
Anyways, Fei’s fundamental game isn’t changed much from AE, so he should be able to kick ass and body like before, just not as much since the changes balances him and forces player to not throw out rekkas, or chicken wings ie. MORE CAREFULLY. His normal still have that range but his special and normals are changed in that he can’t capitalise it much further, but his matchups don’t change much since he lost only some pressure game and damage, which is why most AE players may more than likely to stick with Fei.
I dunno, how about we talk about how we can adapt? Or new ways to deal with it? I dunno, I’m here looking forward to see people discuss the new changes and not expect a tier list. I think we got a thread regarding tiers, why not go there if you wanna discuss top 5 atm, because isn’t that essentially a tier list, altho its a small one? I won’t give out who I think is top 5 or not right now, maybe in 10 days time, I will, until then, I reserve judgement…
The way I look at it is that you shouldn’t be able to just DO things and get away with it. That’s where a lot of my frustration comes from when playing against some of the characters in this game…as Makoto, I have to play risky to get my big damage in most cases, whereas some other characters can just do their moves without fear of consequence.
“More carefully.” Not a big deal at all, right?
What happens when a move has to be done “more carefully” (be it less chip, more recovery, less frame advantage, etc. etc.) :
- Many potential frame traps are gone.
- Whiff punishing can become a real concern.
- Moves can’t be used at certain ranges anymore.
- An additional (sometimes many additional) chip hits must be done.
- An escape option is no longer viable.
What does that mean for Fei? A significant amount of previously even match ups are now bad. Characters that had issues with CH Rekka set ups or punishing them in general have less issues with that now. Everyone has a better chance at coming back against Fei because of his overall damage reduction. A few characters won’t have to worry about losing from character specific “what the fuck” combos now. (Seems) that nobody has to worry about cross up chicken wing nearly as much.
Not going to kick as much ass as before.
Quite a few do in the neighborhood of 200 damage, though I don’t mean to limit it just to actual Shoryukens–just using SRK as a shorthand for an invincible attack that starts up in a few frames designed to be/used as an anti-air at close range that pops the opponent up into the air for a possible juggle. Perhaps “DP” would be less confusing, though technically that also refers to a Dragon Punch.
Fundamentally, you’re right–he hasn’t changed and the nerf to Rekka isn’t so bad in the larger scheme. However that’s only one side of the equation to a fight and only 3/4’s of what made Fei so good in Super/AE. That other 1/4 is damage. The other half of the fight equation are the buffs/nerfs that come to other characters. Fei’s not keeping pace in this rendition of the game as his only meaningful buff is the Super cancel from f+HK (which may or may not be meaningful in the end considering it’s one of his less useful moves).
For other characters there are so many things that can screw Fei over. Guy/Cody for instance are getting increased retreat speed. Other characters are getting damage buffs vs Fei’s nerfs. There were, believe it or not, fights in Super (not AE) that could be measured as 5-5, however hotly contested they may be by people who don’t actually use those characters… Balrog/Vega (maybe more in AE for this one)/Chun-Li/Bison/Guile for instance were tough fights though they could swing either way. In 2012, Fei is closer to his Super counterpart than he is to his AE counterpart, though still weaker than he was in Super (aside from his EX Rekka buff). Considering changes on both sides of the equation (rather than in isolation), it looks like a tougher game for Fei players compared to both AE and Super.
I don’t know about that, he lost a significant amount of damage which hurts his comeback potential since he cant ultra for comeback like most characters, chicken wings are pretty bad move besides the ex chicken only to get through fireballs, i don’t see rekka being scary anymore due to it doing half the chip damage on the 1st and 2nd hit, so it promotes just blocking the rekkas and rather not deal with the frame trap rekka, if you do go for the frame trap rekka and guess wrong your pretty much done so i don’t see it being worth it anymore, i really don’t see fei being top 10 or see any top Fei’s do well at any majors i want to be wrong though but i seriously doubt it hes gonna have a lot of trouble opening up characters, jmp is probably the only mixup fei gonna have in AE 2012.
Anyways i hope theres a hidden buff or fix you could say on fei’s tenshin where some characters don’t get his by close st hp and far st hp comes out which obviously doesn’t combo and you can’t cancel it, this happens on Rufus from the top of my head, another fix i wanna see is his hk srk hitbox where the 2nd hit of the srk whiffs on characters like Viper when you cancel it from close st hp.
Hidden changes? So much for a “Full” changelog…
Anyone find videos outside of Kenzo on youtube? I tried searching on niconico and all I got was the topanga.tv stream with mago and tokido but they were playing on console even though it said 2012.
