The point was cr. strong to st.strong [Which is a good frametrap and comboable] and cr. strong twice to st. strong xx is doable and it accounts for powerful linking which was the subject. Regardless if it doesn’t combo off of the whole cast. It is even shown in the test video in this thread that it can be useful on certain characters.
No problem…This isn’t a contest bro, lol.
Ryu’s zoning is weak in this game? His rushdown is weak? Looks like you are highly underestimating the basics of spacing and blockstrings and the power of Ryu’s cr. MP and overhead to put pressure on. Even his cl st. HK can be used in pressure/frametrap. You gotta get innovative…
I do not think the dev team wanted T. Hawk to be doing upper fadc ultra 2, upper fadc nj. condor dive, [upper fadc ultra 1 on block mixups]. Would be a crazy powered up T. Hawk.
Ryu can only do so much after a upper fadc[block or hit]
T. Hawk with an upper fadc, is a ridiculous character
Metsu Shoryuken
Extended hitbox upward in 3rd active frame.
Hadoken
Changed light/medium/heavy version damage from 60 to 70. Chip damage is the same as SSFIV AE, at 15.
Changed follow-up restrictions when a counter-hit is landed with the EX version so that follow-up is possible with any move.
Airborne Tatsumaki Senpukyaku
Adjusted timing of trajectory break-point to be 3F behind the previous point when initiated with an angled forward jump.
Solar Plexus Strike
Changed damage from 40 + 50 (90 total) to 40 + 60 (100 total).
Near Standing Heavy Kick
Equalized normal hit and counter-hit frame advantage.
Heavy Shoryuken
Made this a 1-hit move. Set damage in 1st and 2nd active frames to 160, and in 3rd to 14th active frames to 60. Made from start to 4th frame totally invincible. Made mid-air follow-up impossible. Removed possibility for EX Focus Attack and super canceling.
Crouching Medium Kick
Hit detection extended from 3F to 5F.
You can still to combo with LP to have the same damage or with MP and to lose like 10dmg, but now you won a AA that does 160dmg. Seens like a good buff to me.
No surprises, no changes after the last log. CH Ex hadoken got better explanation this time, now we know it can be followed by any move, just like that guy’s mod and its cool, you can to follow it with a sweep. Minor buff anyway coz its hard to hitconfirm a normal into it to catch a FA.
Glad to see ryu retained all his buffs
If they just fixed the hurtbox on cr. mk now, he’d be perfect, but what can you do?
Can’t wait to body people with better zoning in 2012
i dont understand how the HP.DP as Anti air works now,can i ask do we still do it like now? with MP.DP.
we have to do it like from crouching motion to reduce hit box and get maximum damage(2hits).
i understand the part they say it’s changed to 1 hit now but basically im trying to ask,do we anti air the same way ? just with a different button of course
EX Hado changes intrigue me. Same with the HP SRK… I sense much lab time when Ver. 2012 drops. Overall I’m very optimistic about where Ryu is headed now. I perused the final change logs, and I’m seeing some other characters’ nerfs really helping Ryu out a lot. Gotta remember, don’t miss the forest for the trees.
I dont think it’s matter of just substituting the mp.dp with the hp one when going for damage with your anti-air and not FADC’ing. The mp version is currently invincible for frames 1-5, but the new hp version will be invincible from frames 1-4 (which is up from just 1-2 in AE). This means that the timing for a deep hitting anti-air hp.dp will be slightly stricter.
The cr.mk changes should mean that you get 3 more frames to confirm a focus attack and then cancel into EX Hadouken FADC into whatever. Perhaps this will be decent incentive to use U2 in matches vs chars who like to FA a lot.
After playing around with Ryu for a bit in 2012 I can say that the cr.MK change is not from super. It traded or flat lost fairly often. His Tatsus escape from corner travels diagonally down and will not work on certain characters that can counter your escape (Cammy, Rose, Ken) to name a few. I think their goal is to have people try to rush down with Ryu instead of zoning in this patch which is why they made changes to Ultra 2.
His fireball damage buff is great though. He is definitely better than AE Ryu but its a toss up when you compare to Super. I still think Super Ryu is slightly better. I will record video when I come back on Monday
Yeah I came to the same conclusion. The main buff are his damage from Hadoken & SRK, while the tatus and MK isnt exactly what we wanted so hes only slightly better than AE version…
