Some people don’t remember that the lag affect both ends, so if you lost while there is a bit of lag, it still means you lost.
If you only care about points you adapt to lag. If you care about skills you say fuck changing my game and you take your loss/bitch when the game goes slideshow and you eat a mashed ultra.
I will grant you that there are too many stupid pricks who moan that online=shit when they lose on good connections though.
i dont use u mad? i use Thou Angered?
If I ever get messaged after I play someone I just reply “DFAC”.
Disregard Females, Acquire Currency.
This question is kindof off topic but i gotta ask, is the lag EVEN on both ends? Say 1 player has T1 on the east coast, another has DSL on the west. The west coast player is lagging the hell out of the match, but the T1 player should lag “less” in the sense that he sees stop motion but obviously since hte connection is stronger on his end, more inputs and shit should be coming out.
This isn’t always the case. I’ve seen one-sided lag while playing friends. It can be caused by problems/congestion in the network (remember there’s all those tubes between your connection and your opponents that also matter).
Another cause, like you said, is asymmetric internet connections, where one direction might be blazing fast and the other one, not so much. And its not even quite that simple, I don’t know how the netcode in SSF4 works, but I’d imagine there’s some tricks like prediction involved to make it smoother than the latency would normally allow, allowing for problematic interactions with latency.
That said I don’t agree with the whole online=shit crowd, sure there is latency, but it can be dealt with and it doesn’t take many offline games to recall the proper timings. Of course, I can sympathize for those with decent offline comp not wanting to play online at all, it does require some adapting.
Latency can’t really be dealt with since it can randomly pop up at any given moment. It fluctuates, even by tiny amounts you wouldn’t instantly be able to recognize. You can’t really adapt to lag because it’s 100% random.
What I meant by adapting is taking latency into account in your game plan, and that is definitely doable. Eg. by skipping tight 1f timings, and being more careful with the expectation that latency decreases your reaction speed (by possibly a variable amount). Of course, its a little bit different kind of game than offline, but its very much playable, that’s all I’m saying
Well, I’m still getting, “are you a girl?” My fault for letting my gf pick the PSN name.
So after a pretty scrappy win against a Guile with Bison I get some mail. I expect maybe a gg or something since it was a reasonably open fight.
YMB 9 suigetsu:tick grabbin we poof
me: lolumad
YMB 9 suigetsu:sick of poofs like u abusing tick grabs scrubs ruin online
me: the only thing I abused was you, MIAOW!!!
YMB 9 suigetsu:or tick grab. probably an after affect of too many games of bury the finger with daddy
me: Haha golden, seriously though, post more on SRK scrounging for games instead of learning to tech.
So yeah, is his point that nobody tickthrows offline or what? I’m dirty as hell, I’ll do that all day
And a funny one, ‘LOL fucking hell ur a sicko !!!’ it really looked like I was being a dick and letting him try to mash out of stun before killing him at the last moment, building charge, honest.
Way to much 4chan in this thread. You’re not ALL 09’ers, I assume.
Haha sorry, maximum results for minimum effort though.
Why would anyone be remotely interested in reading your wall of banal text?
about the same as am i am reading your posting style
his was a bit lol
yours… not so much
Why even waste your time posting that. Do you say that at public meet ups. Had a guy say that once and I laughed at him. Just because somebody joined this site in 09 does not make them just a SF4 player or a person who has never played a fighting game.
I don’t get this 09 thing I’ve heard people sayif you joined in. I actually joined earlier this year. What is this supposed to mean? Is it like, if you joined in 09 you only play SFIV, therefore you don’t play other fighters, therefore you don’t know about fighters, therefore you’re a poser? I don’t know, I’m just guessing. What is this 09 crap?
It’s like that on every website that publicly displays your registration date. The “elite” will be those who registered earlier than anyone else, even though they might be legally retarded and contribute nothing to the site at all.
It really means nothing.
This and the one doing the most bashing are the lower tier players.
ahhh, those were the days. when the pros and the scrubs were seperated by a single number, where anything said by an ‘09er’ could be laughed away and scorned by the masses, and anything idiotic said by a pre 09er would be swept under the carpet with only so much as an inkling of embarrassment.
That’s really stupid. The simple fact that you signed up or joined the scene later than the “masses” makes you inferior to the others. People could’ve not just gotten internet access, just bought a game system, just got into it period and for that they were shat on? Well, this is the internet I’m talking about. Everyone is retarded.
