SSF4/USF4 | What other players msg you after you beat them?

Sure no problem I will mash away with LP,LK. Thanks for the input. I guess you missed the part that he mashed the throw well over 50 times. I forget your pro. So hows EVO? Thats right your not there your here telling me to practice teching.

I never said I was remotely pro, and I’m the first to admit that I’m downright awful at this game. But pressing :lp:+:lk: when bison reaches toward you isn’t a tactic reserved only for pros, neither is trying to bait and punish when you know the other guy is throw happy.

Meh, I just don’t see a reason to get upset at the other player if you get beat. Maybe upset at the netcode or your connection if you get beat by lag, or upset at yourself for falling for something that you shouldn’t have… But that’s just me.

Uh, yes. That’s how throws work. Throws are there precisely to beat out things that few other attacks work against (the almighty downback). If you don’t tech throws, someone who uses throws will beat you.

Of course, there are some snazzy things to do with throws, too. I got the message “Only throws noob” from a Finnish Honda who liked to randomly buttsplash. So of course, when he opened one round with a fullscreen buttsplash, my below-average Cody C.MK-slid away from it and threw him out of the buttsplash’s recovery. And yes, with an overhead that’s easily counterjabbed, I WILL tick throw a Honda. And also C.MK and throw him out of the recovery of a jumpin. Teehee.

If I played you and noticed you were having trouble avoiding and/or teching throws, i’d throw you repeatedly too. I wouldn’t be suprised if he noticed that throws were being really effective on you and adjusted more of them into his playstyle for the fight. Finding a weakness in an opponent’s game and targeting it is a common competitive tactic.

Jason24cf - no offense but you sound like just another whiny jerk. Throws are a part of the game; if you cannot tech consistently then you’ll be thrown. I just got my ass thrown all over recently, its a part of the game. Concentrate on improving instead of sending hateful messages to people.

Well i feel someone’s gotta stand up for Jason24cf a little bit in this case. I noticed when i got super and moved from PS3 to Xbox360 that the hidden code for XBL players seems to be “hit LP+LK whenever your enemy is close, but preferably, hit it about 5 times in a row and pray” because seriously:

If you can hit LP+LK after you see Bison reaching for you, and you still get a tech online, you are absufrigginlutely AWESOME in my book. I admit, my reactions are slow (i’m an old fart, sue me) and even on some pretty good connections i sometimes can’t even block a fullscreen EX psycho crusher but i can’t remember ever not blocking one offline. I suck at teching both online and offline but i am very sure i tech 75% better offline than online.

EDIT:

Serious question, no disrespect, but did you improve and if so, how? do you now tech after you see a throw, or do you crouch tech (close to) perfectly OR did you improve by saying “if you can’t beat em, join em, i’ll just hit LP+LK 10 times in a row whenever someone is close”? Because the latter wouldn’t be improvement to me, but it’s what i do online nowadays =)

I got one today from an angry Cody player. He wrote : **“You must be a real bitch to pick a god tier like Sagat.” **

What the hell is up with all these god tier comments I get? Sagat is so reduced now its insane that I get these messages almost every day. We need to start an internet campaign to let people know that he isnt that great anymore…

In the scrubs mind, every Sagat is overpowered, every time Akuma throws a fireball he is a runaway, and random SRKs are great.

Truth.

I’m just sad to see the old Sagat go. People act like Vanilla Sagat was an op god, but really he was just the best of the best, and there were quite a few “best” characters in Vanilla.

Well, I’ll tell you straight up I’m not a great IV player. What I am is a very good HDR player who is using “intuition” and instinct to survive, and I’m filling in the holes by learning about fundamentals specific to IV. Anyway, I watched a tutorial on OS’ing throws and have been using it since. I actually tech’ed some throws as opposed to being a helpless corpse. As for my improvement overall? Well, I faced an excellent C. Viper today and I think I played my best yet. He beat me 6-0 but I came close to taking a couple of rounds. He was definitely a very skilled player, but I’m proud of myself because I was able to use some of Akuma’s weapons such as the vortex successfully. I sent him the GG’s and friended him, naturally I will challenge him next time he’s online. He’s also the best player I’ve played online, 80% of the time the players have been new to the game.

If I see I’m playing a respectful opponent then I’ll use Akuma and get my ass kicked as much as I need in order to better myself. If I see the player is a jerk (like this douche who taunted me constantly) then I bring out Vega and do some ass-whooping of my own. What I* don’t *do, like jason24 did, is send retarded hatemail.

Cheers bro!

Thats cool that you felt you wanted to give me a helping hand. My thing is this, when he played straight p with Viper he was FREE I can provide video to prove it. When it came to Bison it seemed like after every other move or whatever he mashed throw like 5 or 6 times in a row. With online play and lag its hard to tech it each time. I lost big deal I dont care. When it came to a straight up fight he got owned. at the moment we are 1-1. I looked at the replay enough to know I will mash throws when ever he gets close. I just dont throw its not me. Call me a scrub all you want, I could care less. I just like to work combos and strings instead of mashing throws but I will bring it into my game for sure. And when I get hate mail I will reply. I hate it but like many others say “its part of the game”

You just love taking crap about me. Thats cool. Im happy my name is on your mind. But my wife has me so I think you need to get off your man crush with me. I got owned on many many times and I send GG and let the player know thank you for showing me some nice skills and links. Guess what he didnt need a throw to beat me, he had skills to do it straight up

I’m not talking crap about you at all. Show me where I’ve said that you’re a bad player or some kind of nonsense? I said that you sent retarded hatemail, that much is a FACT, and I said that you sound like a whiny jerk (I also said “no offense” in that same post, so you should interpret it more as mature criticism rather than OMG DIS GUY IZ GHEY!!!). Go look at the posts yourself.

If he’s an unskilled scrub, what does that make the guy who lost to him? >_>

Throws have been a crucial part of Street Fighter forever. People always complain about how doing ticks requires zero skill, and yet at the same time they could easily just work on their reversals and counters. Didn’t Daigo once say that a critical part of becoming a good SF’er was mastering throws?

Getting thrown too much? Tech or punish on wake-up. Is the opponent doing it all the time? Read the pattern and make him pay.

I would love to see some people play HD Remix or ST, where characters such as Zangief and T-Hawk rely exclusively on setting up tick throws and harassing you in the corner.

I got a gem from a xXxDBLOCKxXx today. He says that I am quote “a fucking coward” for using tick throws when I was playing as Chun, who, by the way, I have absolutely no clue how to use. I replied to him saying that it’s not my fault that he doesn’t know how to tech, and that if he can’t beat my terrible Chun, that he should really worry about folks who do know how to use her. He then proceeds (with almost unreadable grammar and spelling by the way) to assure me that there is no way I could ever beat him without relying on “pussy throws” and that he is a far better player than I will ever be. By the way, his GT was quite representative of his playstyle.

I’m new here, but I figured this was as good a place as any to jump in. I’ll start off by saying I’m not the greatest SSF4 player and I’m okay with that–for me, it’s just something to do on the weekend to blow off steam and relax when I’m not working or studying. However, as I’ve started learning Chun-Li, I’ve had a moderate amount of success playing on PSN, and while I’ve had people be ungracious winners, I hadn’t experienced an ungracious loser until tonight.

I pretty soundly demolished a person tonight who was playing Dhalsim. So, I beat him/her/it, whatever, I’m going to hop back on arcade mode and I see a message basically saying I was cheap, calling me a noob, and saying I need to play with people of my own rank (but it wasn’t nearly as readable as I just put it).

Rather than get angry, though, I just quoted The Big Lebowski back at him, where Walter Sobchak is screaming about the Supreme Court rejecting prior restraint. It was way more fun than lashing back…

Sure I’ll play
CAll me up on Xbox sometime, would love to get some casuals!

I used to send out good games messages after a loss, I usually got ggs back, with the occasional friend request. I’ve been playing Street Fighter online for a total of two years across several games. Not a single piece of hatemail, probably because my Cammy sucks and I have my comment set to “Nice to meet you!”. I try to be nice to everyone I meet.

Lately though, I did get a message from this guy I don’t ever recall playing (“YOU READY FOR A FAT LIP?”)

I don’t recall his gamertag because he and others were promptly blocked after sending similar threats. I’m not even that good guys, send some of that mail to Sablicious, he seems pretty douchey from what I’ve read . . . >_<
