Got a message complaining about me spamming, and responded with the standard “U mad?” and then got a voice message tirade from a 12 year old gangsta about how I “Don’t got nuthin, don’t got no skills, can’t compare to me and you’re BLOCKED!”
Is there a way to post XBL voice messages online? I think people would get a kick out of it.

I guess you didn’t see the match where Aloha was running a train on the US players with his Gief. He taunted after a dizzy before going for a win. Sabin tried to return the favor in a later match, but wound up getting punished because of it.

I used to get loads of messages from sore losers on SFIV on 360, even more on PC, though I haven’t had a single one on Super on PSN. It surprises me as I play a pretty mediocre Makoto and have managed to scrape a fair few tight wins so I would’ve expected a few salty losers.
What I do seem to get is messages from bad winners on PSN Super. I’ll never understand why someone will win a game then take the time to write a gloat message about it. I can only assume they don’t win too many so feel they need to make the most of what little victory they get.
Either that or they’re just whiney, spoilt pricks.
A guy was pissed off that I beat his Hakan by playing keep away. Wasn’t aware that I should give you a massive advantage by letting you get close.
I don’t buy the fact that dead body hits were removed because the Japanese find it disrespectful. I mean, maybe it is the case but I find that somewhat hypocritical. It happened a bit in SF3. Admittedly it didn’t happen as much in SF4, but I still happened. Not to mention taunts… Whatever, prunes.

Your response is phrased like I’m trying to make a case for general Japanese politeness, but I was just responding to the statement that:

with my response, which I probably should have phrased “Well yeah but it’s a completely different culture, with a lot of ingrained respect/disrespect, and it isn’t really applicable to whether any of us should taunt.”
If an American player taunted earlier, that’d be besmirching the honour of the Japanese team, and honour is SRS BZNES. I’m not surprised that was repaid by seeing their taunt, and raising them an ass-kicking.

I taunt once in awhile when I can get away with it. It’s fun, and I think the argument can be made that you can frustrate an opponent into making bad mistakes by taunting and getting them even more worked up after a good beating.
As far as the Japanese players taunting, I remember seeing Daigo taunting in 3S plenty of times. He’s just one guy, but whatever. I think if it really were that big of a deal to Japanese players they wouldn’t even bother putting it in the game.
I once picked Hakan on accident in a ranked match (I thought it was going to be on Sim so I was just pressing the button). I don’t know the first thing about using Hakan so I was really just goofing off the entire match. After losing, I sent the guy a friendly message about how I picked the wrong character (not in a “you suck, play my main, fucker” sort of way, more so joking about my dopeyness in picking Hakan), and he sent me a message saying “still would have lost u garbage”.
I thought…okay. I knew I’d be able to beat him if I played as Sim so I invited him to a private match. I left after decimating him once and he sent me a message saying “U garbage u run da whole match go again BITCH”.
I replied with “You jumped right into my ultra. Who does that?” At some point he actually did jump directly into my Yoga Catastrophe. Perfect arc directly into the middle of the thing after it’d been on the screen for a second, no shenanigans.
He comes back with “n who runs lyk a lil bitch HURRY UP”. I played him a few more times. He sent me another message after I left saying “Run 2 much, kno exactly who 2 pik for that shit”. I ignored him after that, though.
Those were my first pieces of Dhalsim hate mail for Super. Fun stuff.
In 3s, taunts give you powerups…so there’s a reason why you see people taunt in 3s after they get a knockdown.
I’ve sent at least 20 gg messages. Only got one gg reply, it’s really sad.

Joined a random Endless and THEKINGKINDRED was in it, so i patiently waited for my turn. I’m up finally, 1st round I dizzy him, and i go to finish it and end the round with a perfect, and blam HOST ENDED SESSION wtf man.
Nonetheless, it wasn’t saved in the battle log because he quit out, fml.

There was one fight I do remember. Akuma vs saga. Vanilla. Last round and he had about half bar and I had ultra. He starts taunting. Surely you see where I am going with this ;p

Oh and another in ssf4. Endless battle. Everyone using new ppl. Smug tier ryu glomping and taunting. I lose once, plug in Mic, whip out akuma and rape his face on 2nd go. I flame him over Mic for taunting ppl using new toons as he proceeds to spam ryu ultra 2 in 2nd round. As he goes up he clips me blocking, charging my ultra bar barely. And as he comes down I taunt buffer into ultra 1.
