SSF4 Rose: Buffs & Nerfs

I’m Ok with all that list, instead of Abel where i would take U1 in case he takes U2. And Viper where it takes burn kick & ex seismo easily.

Gonna go get the game soon and I’d like confirmation on some things I’ve only seen slightly touched upon.

#1. Exactly which moves does absorb power up?

#2. Do all reflects power up these moves, or just LP?

#3. How many times do I have to absorb/reflect before the move is powered up, and how much does each absorb beef up said moves?

#4. How do the absorbs stay in the games memory? What I mean is do they only last for that round or the entire match? Furthermore if it’s a super/ultra that they power up do I need full super/ultra at the time, or will absorbing at any time store power and allow me to used a buffed up version of a move when I get it?

I can answer 3 of those…

1.Spark, EX Spark, U2, and Aurora Soul Spark are all buffed by LP Absorb. Thing that kinda sucks is they dont power up separately , so use any one of those moves once and all are debuffed.
2.Just lp
4.They only last during that round…and it doesnt matter the status of your meter while absorbing it will STILL be powered up. So I guess you could think of it as power “her” up and not the move.

Orbs break armor right? I’m not sure if he can grab you through them, especially since you can activate->jump. Gief’s and hawks only work b/c they’re instant.
Besides, checking on the Abel boards tells me most pro Abels are staying with Souless instead of the new ultra. New Ultra isn’t ever guaranteed damage.

As far as Viper, I haven’t really fought any good Vipers since Super dropped. I know Seismos have a pretty big startup, but you’re countering EX seismo ON REACTION with ultra? Can’t Viper just do a feint and make you look silly?
Burning Kicks Are really important to be able to stop too, but I’m sure Ultra 2 Works really well against those too.

Fighting Frank the Tank’s Viper, I’ve IS’d his overhead a few times and the burn kick, but at the same time, this takes a lot of reaction and anticipation whereas if somebody is vaguely above you and you have Ultra 2, DO IT.

Nop Renegade, i tried it, if you start U2 during the anim of his U2, he’ll grab you before.

Weird. I’ve never been actually HIT out of the Ultra itself if I committed to blocking.
I wonder what the exact frame data is? Being able to block immediately suggests Rose recovers immediately or in one frame, but perhaps the orbs don’t hit until a little later? Also, WHERE they show up is just as important as when.

That’s why you need counter hit Close S.MP or C.LK in order to link ultra two.

Maybe you can prejump animation cancel the ultra, lol.

This also supports the idea that orbs don’t show up until frames 5-7.
Would this mean that normal throws would grab her too?

At first I thought this would make them safe jumpable, but since Rose actually BLOCKS the attack, maybe that holds them in the air longer to get hit? I need to go in the lab for awhile.

Although, in ultimate theory fighter land, if you’re close enough that he’ll grab you before orbs show up, and you can actually input the ultra, you could have jumped over him.

Although I’m waiting for the day when Abel does ultra to bait a jump over, cancels it, and anti airs for the win.

From Abel’s perspective, Souless is the better choice against Rose, since it goes through her fireballs just as well, and he’s going to get in on her and putting her into combos.
Breathless is better against characters Abel has a tough time getting in on. Akuma, Gief, Bison, Etc.

Did they do something to crouching LP to Light Spiral? Cause im trying to do trial 18 in Super and FFS I cannot get this spiral to come out on time haha. I got no problem doing the others so far but I cant get this effing spiral to work… maybe its my stick, but it works when I do it without the LP before it…

Just wondering if the timing on it got stricter?

Since Gen is pretty meh at the moment I’ve started playing a bit of rose and she’s crazy fun. U2 is too much fun, makes for some sexy combos.

This is the most difficult trail for Rose for sure, try delaying the last LP a little before you hit Spiral.

Not sure if this buff has been mentioned, But same as how we can reflect into soul throw, we can also soul throw off of a HP reflected projectile juggle.

Did it earlier against Chun. First time I tried HP reflect too. maybe they increased her FB hitbox? It was pure gold though.

Seeing this trial again was special to me, as it took me TWO MONTHS to get it done in the original SF4. I was new to all this linking and cancelling stuff :slight_smile: Now I did it on the third try and completed all her hard trials in less than an hour. Things change.

God…I think I gave up on this trial in SF4, took me about a minute to do it in super…was quite happy.

The trials took me all of 4 minutes (counting the time of pressing next trial).

Ugh facepalmed yesterday when I tried to do 18 again on a dualshock 3, got the spiral out and wasnt expecting it so I wiffed the super haha. Oh well, I’ll try more sometime in the week.

Anyway has Spark been tweeked on start up, or are people just pressing buttons when I do it close to them haha.

Startup is the same. She recovers faster afterwards now though.
