Why taunt? It’s just a game.
People get angry, which makes win easier.
Yes if you want to finish the match and don’t want a ragequit, don’t taunt.
Best places to taunt are after you knock away obvious jumpins. That’s why I am still disappointed that I haven’t seen a Guile player do flash kick -> FADC -> Shades yet
i got - shades ->high kick -> flash kick when dizzied on my last bit of health. i thought it was pretty awesome even tho i lost lol

Exactly… it’s just a game. People shouldn’t get so mad and quit just because I taunted once during a fight.
I think I’d earned the opportunity to taunt after the raping I gave him, lol, hearing chun li say ‘Sorry!’ just before she perfects the opponent makes me laugh a little.
His rage made me laugh just as much though, so it’s all good.
Or you piss off someone who knows what they are doing and proceeds to wipe the floor with your scrubiness. 
A classic flowchart Ken ragequit on me today. His mastery of the flowchart brought back memories of March 2009 when SFIV was just a baby.
Another Ken player ragequit on me, he did it once I blocked his random, last ditch, desperation ultra. What a fucking bitch. The guy had a lot of points too, like 3000 PP…
I always wondered why people taunt you when they are winning a very laggy match. Like those slow motion ones. It is like they are admitting they are lagging you out.
Typical Answer: Because you want to make your opponent angry, making it easier to beat him.
Actual Answer: Because alot of people are douchebags, the same reason why people crouch-uncrouch in FPS games after kills.
If you taunt someone, don’t complain about someone quitting the game on you. If someone taunts me, I don’t get mad about it. But if someone is trying to piss me off, I’ll return the favour. They taunt by pressing HK+HP, I taunt by quitting the game.
Really? Man that’s lame.
Taunting’s part of the game, everyone can do it. Quitting because you don’t like the way someone taunts is no different to quitting because you don’t like how they block, or throw, or whatever.
Man… people are just complete fucking girls.
Incessant taunting is annoying granted, but if I can’t beat someone who taunts repeatedly I’m not gonna take that as justification to quit the fight.
In the case I mentioned before, I’d only just started the taunt animation as it lost connection so I’d imagine he’d already hit the PS button by that time anyway, due to the loss rather than the taunt.
People who taunt for nothing are just assholes. I force myself to tough it out even though I’m new to the game and take my beatings. There was this user the other day called Polite Javier, total asshole who just kept taunting and doing Blanka balls. Its pathetic. He wouldn’t even have a chance to taunt (or breathe) if it was HDR. Whatever, my advice to anyone who gets mad is just to practice and then taunt the fuck out of that person when you’re able to beat them.

Personally I find it funny when I get mail for kicking someone. My latest being:
“Why’d you kick me.”
“Red bar connection.”
“Yeah and?”
What? yeah and? Do we suddenly thrive off guarenteed lag or something to find matches?
Nothing wrong about taunting someone who has taunted you, I’m only returning the favor and not instigating anything. I am never the first one to taunt, in fact I set my taunt to 0 to ensure that I don’t mix it up with a focus attack.
As noble as that is, I just find how seriously people take the whole taunting thing ridiculous. It’s just a useless animation in a video game. I use it for humour rather than to just people piss off.
‘I don’t instigate anything’ - or people claiming that being taunted justifies their rage quitting - makes it sound like something massively insulting rather than just a bit of online mockery in a video game.
Anyway, I think my views on it are clear… if people want to have their own codes of conduct and moral standpoint in regards to a superfluous part of the game, fair enough, but don’t let that impede on my experience of the game by quitting over it. Don’t claim it justifies ragequitting because that’s ridiculous. It really is no different than someone bitching/moaning or quitting because they got thrown too much…
I have Dudleys taunt set to “your fighting disgraces us both”, and I instantly use it the second I get a corner hugger (you know, jump back shotos, guys who run to their corner), I love these guys, im not sure what the exact mind set is, but im sure there is some kind of insane reasoning for heading to the worst possible position ASAP.
All I know is I like it. ;p
My favorite is the taunts that make absolutely no sense. Like the guy that’s down to 10% health bar while you’re at 80 and decides its a good time to taunt.
Or the guy that’s actually DOWN a game and maybe gets a lucky combo in and taunts.
If playing Bison with a corner hugger they instantly get “Where is your agression?”-ed X3
i taunt all the time. usually it turns into a one-upping taunting contest. Full of lulz and fun. I’ve yet to run into someone who DC’d on me for taunting. I’d send that person a picture of a tampon to their email.
