Ok. I am trying to break it down into phases. I can backdash cancel out of FK just fine. So I am only practicing the second phase, which is inputting U2 out of a focus backdash.
So it sounds like I need to leave the stick neutral for a very short time before I do the back motion that causes the backdash…I have not tried that at all. I know the tutorials and vids say to do a slight pause while focusing, but I was pausing with the stick at b, not at neutral. I’ll give that a try. Thank you!

I think you only need to do the FADC backwards one when they are in the corner and you are right up next to them… other than that I think you always want FADC fwds which doesn’t require going to that neutral positon,

im thinking this is actually way easier cause i do fadc through fireball w/ honda into u1 its almost the exact motion

Was practicing it a bit this morning seems like the backward dash is the more practical of the two, fwd dash is just for when far away from opponent

Played a lot of the ultra build while I was there. Mixed up my time playing between Hugo, Guile, and Vega. Guile feels good… REALLY good. The c.mk buff is small but noticeable, and I was able to UDK an ibuki crouch tech. U1is seriously, seriously, seriously, seriously, seriously, seriously amazing. That old evil ryu unblockable (on top being able to block it now) gets totally blown up by reversal U1. So do not-so-meaty Rufus divekicks. At one point, rufus did a knockdown setup on me, and during my reversal U1 freeze, guile was pointing the wrong direction and rufus’ foot was 2 inches off the ground. U1 still turned around and punished it. Absolutely amazing. I think ultra combo double is going to be the best pick in a lot of matchups. It gives you access to an invincible, mobile AA with U2, extra damage on random flashkick FADC, and it prevents people from doing unsafe crossup setups. The damage is pretty meh, but who cares?! Utility trumps damage every time.
If the edition select thing becomes tournament standard, everything is going to be a tossup between Super Guile and Ultra Guile. Vanilla and AE Guile were terrible, and Ultra is essentially just a souped up AE2012 version. Combofiend told me that Guile is 100% buffs in Ultra. No nerfs. I think it will boil down to how important the fireball war is in whatever matchup you’re playing. Like against Ryu and Sagat, super guile would be king. Against someone like Chun though, you need access to the buffed UDK to beat hazanshu, so ultra would be the better pick.
Although, truth be told, I’m probably going to pick up Yun too if this becomes tourney standard. AE Yun will be hands down the best character in the game, period.
I’m most excited for the fear of ultra 1 more than actually using it. Kind of how Ryu gets scared to throw fireballs when you have U2 stocked, that fear to crossup or apply jump pressure makes me extra stoked.
I think it would be wise to brush up on your focus absorbing to get ready for USF4. Being able to have an U1 stocked up quickly without actually getting hit will be key. It just sucks that Guile will only be able to autocorrect with his U1 and not his normal FK’s. It feels amazing when you hit someone with autocorrect U1, but in all the old SF games, Guile’s FK worked this way too.
I just got to play Guile a bit at IVGC, feels very solid.
U1 against that braindead wake up pressure is so funny. People’s jaws were dropping. Also good AA now. I might exclusively use U1. Of course people will adapt and use set ups but those you can learn.
The CR MK buff was really noticeable too, I was poking a lot of people out with it.
Unfortunately the flash kick invincibility buff doesn’t seem to make it win against a well timed Ryu j lk. Sigh.
UDK works well now, but to be honest I didn’t really feel the extra range in the air throw.
Bison can now EX scissor on reaction through a sonic boom. The guy I was playing against was either guessing really well or it’s on the edge of reaction time to hit from midscreen.

To me it seems like a pretty sick hit confirm with guaranteed chip.
err that is way too little time to charge the flash kick… Make that 2lp xx boom > 2lp > 2mp xx FK

Played at Next Level the other night.
Lost to Pie Smug in Winners then got taken out by Shine’s Gouken. I should’ve won that match against Shine. If its one thing I know I’m good at, it’s rushing down Gouken. I know for a fact that I could’ve beaten him clean. One of the wires on my lp button came loose (don’t even know how that happened) and everything went downhill from there.
Next time, I’ll be in full force.
Question: what is a good attack to combo into off of jumping fierce kick when cr.mp is out of range? Habitually, I have found myself doing cr.mk, but the range is too far to finish the target combo. I’m sure there is something better I can be doing. Should I just sweep?
