I’ll just keep hitting at it @ Next Level until I can transfer my playstyle in accordingly. I also need to keep working on that fake cross up and develop something stronger off of it. It’s too good as I was catching a few people in casuals with it.
Cool to hear Slinkun made it to top 8 at Youmacon Battle Opera. Its cool when you see a guy that really helps the forums with good info get a big break in a major. It gives me hope that SRK isnt just for online warrior know it alls who dont actually get out there.
Ended up getting 5th. I can beat a whole lot of people, but I still get destroyed by the top players.
Got completely bodied by PR rog and iPeru.
=\
Confidence…that’s I what I need. XD
Boxer is a nightmare for Guile if the Boxer player knows how to approach the matchup.
And still, Rog players cry about the matchup and are calling it a 7-3 even 8-2 Guile.
Yah. PR is the poster child for good Rogs obviously. He just mind f&$@ed me and I played like a fraud. I’m super salty, but I still had some moments against him. I was at my best when I would toss a couple booms, then just do nothing. I kept reverting to how I play other Rogs. I’m definitely hungry now though for the first time in a long time.
who is this Blue Emblem guy, is it Ace?
Is cr.short, cr.jab, cr.strong a true string? Also I assume this is the best string to hit confirm with into his bnb.
On block? No. On hit? cr.lk, cr.lp is your hitconfirm into cr.mp.
Did anyone else see the NEC13 finals? Im predicting a swarm of new Guiles online.
Ah that was a beautiful final 8… I absolutely love seeing good Guiles win.
Yep. NuckleDu climbed up there really fiercely. Taking 1st place in Big Two and now taking 2nd at NEC.
Best Guile wins. Luckily no Chi-Rithy ;;
This is kind of off topic but I was wondering if anyone could give a rundown/tutorial on Guile’s backdash and focus attack. I see someone Guile players using backdash, but I’ve gone days without seeing a Guile player use a focus attack. Also is their any point to not focus a backdash with Guile?
Guile has a terrible focus attack and backdash. That is the main reason you don’t see it, so you’re forced to block more often than other characters.
So just never use it? I can understand that it’s bad, but I’m wondering if there’s situations to use it. I believe you, it just may be a little too general to say it sucks, then again maybe not.
His back dash has bad range. His focus attack does as well. The best time to use it is if you have a good read and its reasonably spaced well. But its not reply one of his primary tools. Guile forward and back dash is pretty subpar and very punishable. Use it sparingly, or to punish attrack that lose badly to focus attacks. Overall I think its best to focus on playing Guile without them, due to his dashes being so punishable, it normally does more harm than good
Yeah, I was kind of getting the feeling that this was the case, since I’ve never really used them at all myself. I’ll wait to see if anyone responds differently. Thanks for the replies!
Dieminion is so good with Guile he makes him look much better than he really is, amazing shit
Ok guys found some new-ish tech in the lab.
A couple of months ago I found out the first hit of Guile’s cr. roundhouse could cancel into super but I couldn’t think of any application for it.
I tested it out in the lab today, and found out it can be used as an FA tech. If they FA the first hit, instead of FA Back dash cancelling out of it (to cover yourself) you can input the super command and it will crush all levels of their FA. The best part? You can still hit them with an ultra after.
I tried it on Gen’s level 1 fa dash backwards to see if it caught his back dash and it did (super would connect as would both Ultra follow ups). Edit: it works on Rose’ FA Backdash. And it works mid-screen.
Also, seeing as it is a cancel, you could potentially set it up as a counter punish. They block the first kick, try and hit you in between and bam, super!
This being said it’s probably the least practical thing Guile can do in that situation seeing as you have to deliberately throw out an incredibly unsafe move. But by God is it the coolest!
