the only other situation i can think of is when you know youre about to get big damage. like if you make a good read on a fireball. in that case, youve landed a raw jump in into your punish combo
that can push up to around 380 if you jumped with fierce or double roundhouse
to sum it up FADCs are worth it in-
footsies into hands
punish combo
punish combo + jump in
or like cront said, you can just save it. Gen’s supers are among the easiest to land in the game IMO.
i use my supers in the same fashion i do with my FADCs because of the scaling, but i usually wont burn the full super early unless i need all of it to win a round, or i land a poke into hands at the very beginning of round 2, because i can build a second full super before the fight ends most of the time. 3rd round i burn it ASAP
The only thing I hate about Crane U2 is that it’s too easy to punish now. Also I mainly play while listening to music(my fault of course) but because of this sometimes I think they are doing something and end up doing a random U2. But you are right. It’s so easy to land U2, it’s a bit harder full screen. Unless you do it before the fireball leaves their hands. But I’ll trade missing Air-to-Air punishes with U2 with punishing fireballs a lot easier. However, if you delay your U2 to come out a lot later than you would normally, you can still punish some characters. But unless you are on pixel life or at your whit’s end, I’d rather just save it.
I prefer to save my meter for EX Gekiro and Supers. I’ve been pretty good with my meter management where I can get a few EX Gekiro’s off and still have super almost every time I need it to finish someone off. I think FADC should really only be used if you only have 2 bars and need to finish someone off. Personally I only FADC to keep the pressure on. Like if I’m fighting Sim or Guile. I like to stay in their face.
IMHO, I think meter should be used for Super, FADCing to keep pressure on, EX Gekiro and EX Hands followed by PPP c.HP, s.HK, or sweep.
guyyyyys… I’ve accidentally faced the present 2nd ranked Blanka. He was clearly better than me but with some shenanigans and smart play I managed to win on the first try! And I’ve to thank you for all tips and suggestions…
The other day I managed to beat the 5th ranked Zangief. Mostly through shenanigans. It’s really nice to know these things for sure. Having this board is pretty much the only reason anyone can play Gen honestly. How could a single person figure out a fraction of this stuff on their own? (Unless you’re Amiyu, which doesn’t count because he’s obviously inhuman.)
Congratulations! Amiyu recently tweeted about his “Zangief diet”… he wrote you need to be so careful and ready against the Russian bear that the tension itself makes you sweat abundantly. Lol
