lol Alioune is one of the best players in the world and he won that event. I have no qualms over being blown up by him.
Standing a gnats hair’s outside of my st.HP range in the corner and hitting me with palms was dirty though!
I have been finding that using his st.HK for whiff punishing with his good walk speed is key to pretty much all of Dudley’s bad matchups. It blows up Honda for example.
How do you guys feel about fishing for counter hits from mid range w St HK and buffering ex mgb? I’ve been doing that lately and its been working wonders…its a really good counter poke.
No, I havent been here for a bit. Dudleys always been my secondary…I’ve just kind of fell off the boat for a bit because I was trying to learn about the new characters/match ups and i was digging hardcore at how Ibuki is different in AE.
I’ve been kind of dropping out of playing Ibuki and playing more Dudley. I think I like him better in this game now.
-More Health
-More Stun
-More Dmg output
-Better corner game
-Better Ultra(s)
-Faster comboable overhead.
-Scary (reliable) and simple oki pressure
Ibuki has the tools as well to be really scary but shes soooo gimmicky and once people learn to read her oki game…its not as good.
Like, Dudley still has his match up difficulties w Vega, Sim, and any turtling character…but no one is playing those characters anymore so its not so bad. lol.
There’s no oki game in SF4. You can vary your quick rise by 5 frames. If you practice meaty attacks in training, all you can practice against is first frame teching. crLK only has 2 active frames, it’s going to lose to delayed quick tech. Only Akuma and Ibuki have oki games in SF4 (vortex > SRK).
Being against Dudley in the corner, it always better to mash shit out than guess wrong even if you can’t make it safe.
Dudley at best goes even or loses in all match ups and loses most of them still imo.
Older SF’s had higher damage output so mashing dps/being random was more of a risk. One mistake=death. Lower damage output/more scaling increases the likelihood of doing something unorthodox because the risk is lower.
It’s like looking at low health characters…most of them are offensive and pack the right kind of tools to be offensive w high execution, right? (Seth, Akuma, Ibuki, Fuerte, Viper, Yun, Yang, ) They cover nearly every aspect and have great mix up potential but if you fuck up…dead. With lower damage output people are less concerned of consequences and are more “random”
As the SF4 series has been progressing it has been getting worse because scrubs are living longer, mashing more, can be more “random” and get “lucky” the series has progressively been supporting the use of “Random ultras” Think about SF4 Vanilla…you couldnt do ANY of those ultras randomly without getting punished HARD/ Then SSF4 came out and pretty much at least 50% of the u2s were random or were insane for chip dmg to be used randomly. Abel, Fuerte, Guile, Cammy, Fei, Rufus, Seth, Honda, Makoto, Cody, Bison, Rose.
Yun basically “Breaks” the game atm because the entire meta game revolves around “what are you gonna do against yun though!?” like we used to say in place of Sagat for Vanilla. He makes the game random and mashy because thats what you need to do in order to stop Yuns pressure. Because of that, the top tier characters are random, safe, and offensive characters. IMO, any character that is defensive is a below par character overall. Not to say that they cant do well, but since this game is catered to offense without any form of “parry” to counter that offense (FADC is more of an offensive tool then defensive) the game is random as fuck.
All SF4 is reversal happy better to die doing something than nothing because it’s so easy to mash something out.
If the reversal window wasn’t so wide and you couldn’t FADC or trade mashed out SRK into 400+ damage or into a -2 frame advantage, it would be ok.
Yun is overrated. The series has been making every character collectively worse. The entire roster is mid/low tier worthy. It’s a battle of mediocrity. No one is good, it’s who’s the least meh.
