The point of having an anti-fireball Ultra isn’t always to land it, but to stop them fire balling as well. A ducking into straight can miss when an ultra would hit, so it is more useful.
You can NOT backdash out of U1. Or are you trying this at full range?? lol.
The point is to react to a fireball or focus that is within the mid range. Like I said, Seth’s will focus more than others against Dudley because of big fat normals & his focus is just generally really good.
U2 is useful as well for sure. But U1 is just that little bit more useful. I’d go for either one depending on the Seth play style.
I have actually had what Kiku is talking about happen to me. If they’re focusing at a distance and you do Ultra 1, what will happen is they backdash and the part of Ultra 1 that should hit the backdash whiffs since it doesn’t hit airborne and they recover in between the hits of the ultra and are able to block. It’s very frustrating.
U2 every time vs. Seth. This matchup is free regardless if the Seth is trying to zone you out. A good Seth recognises Dudley’s defensive options as being very weak and will mix you up until he wins.
Anybody have any tips against El Fuerte? He’s a weird one and I always seem to have trouble with him if I can’t rush him down and stay close. One he starts running around he gets me with ambiguous tostada presses and tortillas.
Use a lot of j.fp to stop him jumping around too much. Tostada Press doesn’t break armor, so you can do a little bit of shenanigans by focusing that attack. Backdash also works.
Hey guys im after some information on the Dudley vs Adon matchup.
I play Adon btw not Dudley. But id like your thoughts and opinions if possible. The Adon forums are pretty quiet so I figured there was no harm in asking here also
anyway bumbling over…
I have a lot of trouble with this match up I feel like Dudley can shut Adon down quite easily, I even feel the match up is in Dudleys favor, not even like I thought it was.
Anyway I find hp and f+hp beat out every one of Adons pokes and hp can even AA his jks
You guys also have an quick AA which is st.mp/mk? pretty fast and beats out a fair bit of stuff, jk’s and iajks too.
Once in on me, feels like I have to risk a rj to get out, frame traps and OS’s usually catch my back dash
I wont even bother with air to air haha, once im in the corner as Adon it feels like its RJ FADC or get lucky.
So your thoughts, who does this match up favor? what can Adon do that gives you trouble? etc
From my personal experience, I think this match up is pretty much 5-5. But there are times where I think a really smart Adon player can make this match up seem worse than it is for a Dudley player due to Adon’s superior footsies.
A few things you should know:
Stand FP and F+FP are a free level 2 focus if you catch a Dudley player relying too hard on them. Depending on spacing, you can punish them on whiff.
-Our AA’s are very, very good, but air Jaguar kicks will usually beat them when you are doing them from max range.
-Dudley is essentially negative on block with basically everything. F+MK is what nets us the most frame advantage, but it can be beat on startup by a grab or reversal. So that is normally one of the safest moments to look to break out of our pressure. If Dudley ends a string with anything but LP Machine Gun Blow, then he is punishable.
-Dudley normally relies heavily on focus attacks to gain momentum, but due to the amount of armor breaking moves and 2 hitting moves that Adon has, focus options become limited.
So pretty much, just keep him out with your superior ranged normals and safely spaced Jaguar kicks. It is really a pretty straight forward match up imo.
thanks for the response
I guess I need to work on my spacing a bit better.
I didnt realise dudley was so unsafe on block. he always seems safe to me, but maybe thats the pressure haha!
thanks again and ill think about what you said!
NP, keep in mind that when I say he is negative on most everything I am talking about his specials. However, duck straight can be made safe based on distance, and both Straight and upper can be FADC’d . Take the time to look at his frame data to better familiarize yourself with what you can punish http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2010/may/06/dudleys-frame-data-super-street-fighter-4/.
Other than that, keep your distance, learn when to focus our FP, and use your sweep, RH, and Jaguar kicks to frustrate.
These matchups need to be finished, edited, etc. I like this matchup thread better than the other one because it’s not clogging up the thread at all with separate thread matchups.
I think I’ll get things going plus I have videos of specific punishes on all the characters if anyone needs it.
his s.LK is stoopid. that’s about it.
on reaction he can punish whiffs with EX Rekka, not regular rekka like fei.
you need to use buffers btw bro.
imma make like… a 5 minute video on Dudley’s buffer normal/options.
also like i told someone else idr who
go test this out ASAP
training mode > dummy on crouch block all
count the amount of times you can do these normals on block before out of range
c.LP, c.LK, c.MP, s.LK s.MK s.HK
target combos… {s.LK MK} {s.LK MK MP} {s.MK HK}
his cr.MK and st.RH own my soul. Whiff punishing cr.MK is functionally impossible for a human being.
st.RH I can SOMETIMES catch with a st.RH xx EX MGB of my own, but that shit has mad range and you end up just standing at some far out range where you can’t hurt him, but he can hurt you.
if you check in training mode
his s.HK has more range than his c.MK
staying right outside his s.HK range is key.
he cant palm or jump
he isnt as good as yun in the air and keeps Dudley out with palms and gdlk footsies.
Ultra 1 is just to negate palm ( not as powerful but yun but w/e)
Most of the game happens right outside of Yang’s s.HK range.
Fierce punch is useless in footsies vs yang he can punish those on reaction with walk forward c.MK and s.LK
work on your s.HK reactions
Use s.MP c.MP over Fierce (f.MP is better than fierce too but doesnt get you anywhere it’s just a poke)
Ultra 1 keeps him from using palms
Neither player can jump
Both can whiff punish far pokes
stalemate at this point.
it’s up to the player match up now.
you have a waaaaaaaaays to go to mastering your character over All…Allione.
