SSF4 Dudley Match-up Thread

A good Hakan isn’t using U2 vs Dudley, imo.

Do people know that you can cross up Hakan in the corner with jumping hk? It’s actually pretty easy to hit, not like the jumping lk cross up. I just randomly figured this out today and wasn’t sure if people know this as i haven’t come across it on the boards yet. It seems to be Hakan specific, although I haven’t had a chance to try it on everybody, just Gief, honda, and ryu.

Hakan seems to be crossed up by every jumping move for some reason. In the corner, I hit a crossup jMK on him. Trade off for all his jumping kicks crossing up I guess (I think I read that somewhere).

jHK does crossup though. There’s a vid between Ed Ma and Marn @ Evo where jHK crossed up Juri midscreen. But Juri’s hitbox is the size of a truck so take that for what it’s worth.

j.lk crossup on Hakan and T Hawk is consistent midscreen.

Does anyone know the Frames for st. RH cancel into light duck on block? I know st. RH is -2 or -3 on block but that should be if you dont cancel into anything.

LK Duck takes just as many frames as recovering from stHK being blocked on it’s first active frame.

stHK blocked = stHK xx LK Duck blocked = -3

I’m a dudley secondary. Trying to learn some match up information on him. Rose, Rufus, Blanka, Chun, Gief, and Seth more over as a quick start.

Also i use u2 unless it is honda, ryu, akuma, sagat, seth, and sometimes Blanka. Anyone else i should be using u1 against?

I actually like U1 against Zangief and try using U1 on T. Hawk if you’re low on reactions against dives. U1, if blocked, will catch him as he falls.

Rufus, Guile, Chun Li, Deejay, Rose, Bison, Gouken.

Possibly T Hawk and Abel to punish blocked moves. You can Rolling Thunder a Conder Dive on block, but you can also do a fwd dash then a st.HK against most on block. All of Abel’s non-EX Wheel Kicks are at least -8 on block

But Corkscrew Cross is the same speed as RT, and Wheel Kick recovery is definitely still within CC range.

Still… only shitty Abel use Wheel Kick enough to warrant even considering it in your gameplan. I think CC is a better choice against Abel, personally.

Max range Wheel Kick is safe from Corkscrew Cross, but if they are doing it from that far away you can probably CC it on reaction before it even hits you.

I personally use U2, but I did see a decent Japanese Dudley using Rolling Thunder

I feel like for Abel, you’re going to win up close so you might as well have CC for combo damage.

Can you hit confirm into lp jet upper from the

cr lk-st mk TC? Because that seems like a more viable way to land his ultra off of a crouching hit confirm without meter. (If they are going to be in the corner i would just do cr lk-cr lp-hk-ex MGB-u2…

You guys still using the CR LK-CR MP-CR HP TC on Blanka? lol. This thread needs a face lift.

No disrespect, but this thread is a mess.

cr.lk st.mk TC is so fast that sometimes it’s pretty hard to hit confirm. Never used the 1, 2, 3 TC on Blanka even if he does have meter because I can do bigger damage from low mixup. Plus idk if st.hk connects after the 1, 2, 3 TC like it does on Abel, and other fat hitbox characters. Thread does need a makeover but what can you do with the non availability of the OP? Like I said on that other thread, the Dudley thread needs multiple new mods to keep forums clean and organized.

I think it’s a pretty easy hit confirm. Definitely easier than confirming stuff like Short, short, Super, in 3S/CvS.

As for match-ups, I would suggest a new thread, but with SSF4 in this current state of flux (AE coming to console, not readily available… though available for some…), it doesn’t pay to start a new match thread now, IMO.

You guys should just ride out SSF4… then reboot when AE hits console. Once that happens, there should be a thread started by somebody that actually knows their shit, and wants to deal with the burden of running a match thread (it’s hard, thankless work).

I might stop playing SSF4 for a while like I said after MvC3 comes out. Still going to play SSF4 from time to time but definitely waiting 'til AE comes out. I can’t even go to AE because, well…

I have trouble with Seth. And T Hawk. Some tips plz?

And what’s good against sim HP? cr. MP kinda works.

Focus can be good against ground stretchy arms, so can full screen s.HK buffered into ex MGB.

Usually it will only work as a whiff punish, which means you just stand right outside s.hp range and do s.hk. I haven’t seen or gotten it to work closer up.

Against Seth j.hk and j.hp keep him out of the air. OS backdashes/teleports with EX MGB. ducking punishes sonic boom on reaction easily. Just hit him twice and he’s done.

Seth’s stand fierce is ex mgb punishable on block. Don’t let that bastard throw it out for free if you have meter.
