SSF4 Dudley Match-up Thread

guys… what do i do against chuns? especially footsie & turtle chunlis. getting in is a very big problem and is there anything that i can do? like baits and stuff?

s.hp is your friend, it can beat Chun cr.hk, s.hp, and s.mp. Play footsies. Also anti-airing with Chun is kinda hard and there is a space where you can jump in on Chun if she doesn’t know the proper AA (if she doesn’t have charge for EX SBK).

You can punish her fireball on reaction with Ducking if you’re close enough.

c.mp beats your everything. but most chuns dont know this.

you also have quite abit of time to punish chun’s fb with u1 as well. dash u1 is pretty good vs chun players who like throwing full screen fireballs.

i also just found out blocked chun ex sbk can be punished with u1.

cool… didn’t know u1 punishes blocked ex sbk! guess i’ll use u1 against chun li.

I actually have a pretty easy time doing it. I know in one match online I saw the fireball, walked forward a bit to make sure I hit, then ultrad. He didn’t press any buttons.

Both ultra’s punsih Ex sbk. You can pretty much punish with whatever you want…

The weakness of chun’s cr.mp (and of most of her pokes) is it loses to focus pretty bad. Can’t be cancelled and has long recovery. Jumps can be good too.

Be wary of far standing strong canceled into legs. Not many Chuns I see do it, but it can make focus baiting hurt.

guys. we all know dudley’s wakeup/escape is pretty damn bad.
jus asking if anyone has tested out that wakeup hk duck is safe for dudley’s wake up?
cos duck is invincible against quite a number of moves.

ducking has invincibility against projectile type moves.
doing that shit on wakeup generally ends in failure
the only time i’ll try that shit is if my opponent does an early crossup when i can escape it, but even then the duckin will autocorrect into the move sometimes, making it even more risky

Dudley players still trying to look for that wake up he doesnt have?
His wake up options are, imo, most similar to Gouken’s.

Without EX Meter he has 0 options however since his Cross counter comes out in 3 frames and loses to armor breakers and low attacks. Similar to to Gouken’s High Parry except it’s a 1 frame move.
Dudley’s options with Meter are a 4 frame EX DP, with a above average amount of invincibility frames and is FADC-able. Duck to avoid meaty fireballs. and EX Cross Counter comes out in 1 frame, loses to meaty attacks, low attacks and armor breakers still. His backdash is also a wake up option…

How come all Dudley players do here is ask for info they can find out by going into training mode.

People who ask that stuff just don’t read through the threads because they are lazy. Thirtyfour, where did you get that info on EX CC? I have only seen it be 3 frame start-up.

PoppinJar, all that video showed me was that Dudley’s ducking hitbox can avoid some hand-picked moves. Try that in a match and you will 95% get stuffed for it.

Dudley’s ducking only avoids projectile moves. All of those moves are considered projectiles - if they hit an opponent’s fireball it will cancel out the fireball.

I never would have guessed the EX Rekka, Galactic Tornado, and EX Machine Gun Upper counted as projectiles.

Yeah, I didn’t know about EX MGU so I’m not sure about that, but galactic tornado is definitely a projectile and I’m assuming it’s EX Rekka because it has to be EX.
