I think if you want to main dudley you are forced to learn another character for matchups like chun/boxer, 35 characters are too much and some character will need backup because of retarded matchups.
The juri matchup is hella strange to me atm. whats the general gameplan against a competent juri who knows how to and will make you have to deal with her fireballs? Its seemed like the only way i could win is if i guessed right after a knockdown. other than that i spent the rest trying to get in.
agreed. her HK sticks out so far, its hard to close in on her. i just learned that ducking can go through her low fireballs too, so that will help alot.
If you do forward throw mk ducking to j.hk it’s a true safe jump.
Regarding that safe jump setup, it seems to work very nice against any 4 frame reversal, and you also get to block shinku hadouken, but you eat 3 frame dp.Why so?I mean their startup is identical: shinku=3 frames, dp=3 frames, and the shinku doesn’t seem to travel one bit, so it should hit on the first frame?

Question on the backthrow lk ducking safe jump. So i mean that is a pretty safe move I guess. the only real things that bother me are dragon punches so what i’ve been doing is using mk ducking after a backthrow. In my experience reversal dps whiff. unless an ex one auto corrects it… don’t know if that helps at all. did wonders for my shoto matchup tho.

It’s a very hard matchup for me too. Some things I’ve found:

[]Jump forwards with j.hk at far/mid range. You can’t jump in at Sim with it but you can avoid walking into his limbs this way. j.hk will stuff any of his far AA.
[]Cross Counter every once in a while can be very very nice
[]Option Select his backdashes with either f.mk OS mp DP or cr.lk xx mk. If they cr.lk whiffs and you do the mk crouching you get cr.mk to punish.
[]Standing jab instant air teleports
[]Once you get in if you start a string and he blocks do a ducking to get back in immediately
[]s.hp is really nice once you get close.
[]Keep him in the corner once you get him there and do high/low mixups all day.
[]Try not to go for throws often because if he techs them you get pushed out. Abuse f.mk instead.

I MIGHT have been timing my counters wrong but I’m pretty sure that dudley j fp beats dhalsim’s b mp and b hk. at least in my limited experience.

i noticed that dudleys corkscrew cross is also a anti air ,i keep catching shotos with corkscrew cross everytime they go for a jumping round house fierce anything (except jab)
and i had a tough time with vega till i realized all his wall dives get beat by cross counter…god i love that move
don’t always cross counter wall dives, as they could just throw you. Ive had really good success going air to air against them right now using j.mp that thing should be nicknamed the wall. Its hitbox seems really good.

Marn, those block strings and combos you were doing were simply incredible. I don’t see how anyone can really say that this is a tough matchup for dudley. Granted Marn isn’t the everyday dudley player but the concepts are still the same. And i mean seriously? ex MGB to cr RH to ultra 2? so unnecessary

thanks for the tip FMR i was playing a vega last night and he started grabbing
zoning dictator gives me a headache. I have 2 friends who main bison. I usually beat them most of the time but there are some bison users out there who are good at not letting me get in close dudleys best place to be. their hs and dr’s dont affect me because st mk swats them like flies. I just can’t seem to get too close if they spam lk scissors or st hk. Jump in’s are out of the question for me against good bisons because of his st hk. So far my success against bisons is to bait their cr hk’s with lk ducking and punish them. Usually with lk ducking they think i’m going to attack but I back dash and repeat inching in little by little. If their gaurd is dropped then I"ll hk duck to throw if they expect a lk duck from me. When I get in close enough I stay on them like a pissed off hornet until they teleport or throw out ex scissors. Any tips for getting in close on dictator?
Edit: ex mgp helps me a good amount to close the distance but it’s not really safe on block so I try to not use it too much unless I land a combo.
Any general tips against Cody? I’m getting routinely raped by him and I can’t put my head around how counter his rushdown/blockstrings/specials/etc, its really giving me a headache.
Do NOT get in a poke battle with Cody, you will lose.
st mk stuffs every one of his jump ins clean, if you are just outside of the range of his little slide move you can st hp him in the face for doing it. Heavy pressure his wake up, block low, ALOT.
