If you are buying SSF4 and plan to purchase all of the costumes (even the sf4 ones) then it is going to be obscene. There are five currently for the old characters and seven new packs in SSF4 all at a price point of 320 per pack if they keep the current SF4 rate. That would equal roughly 3840 MS points or roughly 48 USD (62CAD). At least I don’t fall prey to that frivolous crap like a lot of other people.
*This is not taking into account the complete alternate packs which use a lower price point as this is an example in the extremes.
I’m being way too bland but I’ve loved it since seeing the PC mods of it:
Vega - Ninja.
Or I would love the one of him dressed in Japanese casual wear (Mandarin collar shirt and all that jazz) with his glasses like in the art of SF book. I saw him with glasses and went “That is so cute. I’d so play Vega dressed like that.”
^ also means he doesn’t have to wear a mask since you can hit his glasses off instead.
As for Bison, I’m sticking with my other half on this just because it would be funny. The concept art that they did for him previously (You unlock it with the trials on SFIV, the artwork for it anyway) with all the wings all over the place XD get rid of the helmet part and the wings on his wristbands and we’re sorted.
I would love it if Capcom never said that the costumes were on disc. You’d all just shut the fuck up and never even be bothered about them charging for it.
Well, it’s better than the shit Namco’s done and have gotten away with in their games, be it Soul Calibur IV, Katamari Forever, Tales of Vesperia, IdolM@ster, etc. If Capcom is evil for doing this, then Namco is Satan himself.
All I know is, I’m waiting for the package that includes all the costumes in one this time around
Putting the costumes on the disk and forcing you to pay extra to use them is akin to selling a Rembrandt with one of the corners covered up with sticky tape. “Yeah, I put that sticky tape there. Oh, you want me to peel it off? That’s* extra*”. I mean, you can just as easily appreciate every other aspect of the art and just put up with the sticky tape, but why should I pay you extra to reveal the rest of the product I just bought from you? The entire product is there, it’s just that you’ve gone out of your way to artificially reduce my enjoyment of it. It just leaves a bad taste in your mouth and frankly, is… well, underhanded.
There’s honestly no other word for it. Whether Capcom is a company out to make money or not, doesn’t make the practice any more palatable.
No, because that’s essentially the same thing. They used the same development budget and time to make the costumes as they did the rest of the game, and even advertised them as a feature in trailers. Intentionally holding the content back in any way is just the same as making it inaccessible on the disc.
I would understand if they finished the game, and THEN started to create optional extras once it was ready for release, but creating content along the same development time and knowingly holding it back to add artificial value to the costumes is as I said: underhanded.
dont pay anything for this bunch of japanese bullshit
if you do, then they will start to sell each characters to 10 bucks when sf5 (or any other capcom game) comes out
People who bitch about having to pay extra for content that’s already on the disc are eventually going to force the developers to stop putting it on the disc. Nothing else will change: they’re still going to build that content as they build the game, they’re still going to hold it back, they’re still going to charge extra for it, and it’s still going to make no real difference to the game - but everyone will have to download a patch just to shut the whiners up.
I never really understood all this commotion surrounding the costumes, I don’t see how it would make much difference whether they were on the disc or not if you are still going to be charged if you want them. Do keep in mind that this IS **OPTIONAL ** DLC, I don’t see any justification in complaining if you aren’t going to buy them.
Not a lot of people do complain. It’s just when Capcom say “They’re going to be included in the game” then months later “Oh wait, no. You have to buy them” Can you really blame people for the complaints?
You make good points, I was actually deceived when other websites started reporting the alternates as “free” as well. I think, if they were going to charge for them, they should’ve said so at the very beginning.
