I’d also like to add my support for a collector’s edition! I love all this stuff, collector maniac and SF fan that I am.
With SSFIV being cheaper than current full price games, who knows - perhaps the CE (if there is one) will work out as the same cost of a regular priced game, rather than over and above which seems the current trend…

The figure thing really disappointed me, even next to trading figure/Gashapons(which usually range from $2 - $8), Ryu looked inferior to them. They should have specific limited editions like Japan for those who love figures because I know I wouldn’t mind paying an extra $50 to get a smaller scale Juri statue like Cammy’s quality in the picture below(with the Ryu comparison to cheaper figures):
It’d probably be a lot of work, but it’d be interesting to see them release the game with the dated versions of SF that they’ll no longer sell i.e. SF1, SF2, SF3/2I SF: The Movie
Just some of my thoughts they could use for a CE:
- Steelcase box
- Action figures
- Madcatz (S)SFIV joypad or stick
- poster for on the wall
- PS3/XBOX faceplate or skin
- Ken/Ryu fighting gloves
- T-shirt
- Vega’s (Claw) mask
- A real life Cammy, Chun-li, Juri or Viper to play with when you’re not playing the game.
i think it’d be dope if capcom linked up with IGN/the evo staff to get the EVO 2009 coverage of SF4 put on a DVD/blu ray and packaged it up for a SSF4 CE.
that way, people who follow the scene get a hard copy of the SF4 tourney. and people who have never heard of evo can see what top level play is like. maybe include a 5$ off code for registration fees for evo 2010 to encourage even more people to attend.
some other ideas - i doubt they’d package something like this, but possibly a dustwasher for TE sticks, perhaps the infamous hadouken motion dust washer that was supposed to come with the SDCC TE.
and instead of the ryu headband again. maybe they can include either ryu or ken’s belt with the japanese inscriptions on them.
that would be an epic CE that i’d gladly put another 20-25 down for…

maybe throw in the soundtrack or some alt costumes limited to the CE buyers, and you got one nice package that i can only dream of purchasing.
The blazblue limited was really good. I hope they do something similar with the character tutorial dvd.

as for collectors edition ideas:
- Bison hat
- Sagat eyepatch
- old school SF games (even the first one would be nice)
- old school SF games with ONLINE functions
- Anime movie properly explaining the story (this should actually be standard for all SF games, just so you dont have to buy a separate movie, then google like a crackfiend, just to understand what is going on).
- Every time I open the case, it should be like Hallmark cards and either play theme music, yell SHORYUKEN, or play Indestructible if they feel like being dicks
- EXTRA HIDDEN BOSS FIGHT
to be honest the ryu statue i can live with but the viper statue for 360 almost seemed like we were getting shit on, no offense to anyone that likes viper not a bad character but i feel a bad choice for statue. what i think should be done for a new CE is definately a quality Anime that will actually explain whats goin on with Shadaloo, S.I.N, and the Illuminati or whatever they are called lol. if the game is even gonna touch base on that. Maybe a set of Ryu’s Gloves that you can hang in your room or something. another dvd showing off some of the best and most memorable matches and combo videos for the original SF4, for a sense of nestalga (not sure if that is how its spelt). and maybe a booklet that goes over the history of street fighter, show artwork and concept art for all street fighter games (no spin offs like the ex series, versus series etc etc)
5 dollars off a ticket to EVO would be awesome as fuck.

I think a good CE extra would be all of the alternate costumes. It would be useful throughout he life of the game and not just one day. Another good idea a few pages ago was a “making of” DVD. Or maybe a tutorial like with BB.
I just got the CE SF4 to support the game, but I don’t wanna get jacked again either.
