SSF4 Bison Hitbox

ST Dictator had a lot more shortcomings than SSF4 Dic.
Powerful, but incomplete in terms of available tools. I think it is quite the same this time with the anti-air weakness.
Claw on the other hand…

Could someone put the whole s.roundhouse possible hitbox change issue to rest? Does anyone have hitbox pics for vanilla that we could compare? I know some have posted that the vulnerable box feels lower or smaller but cmon, we need some empirical objective evidence here.

No one has hitbox data on vanilla. We were lucky as a community that someone recorded the info from an early build of SSF4.

Well looking at all this again explains why 90% of Bison’s AA’s trade or straight up loose. Most of his normals are strangely vulnerable if i am reading it right active hitbox fully encased in a vulnerable hitbox making it way too prone to fouling if I am reading this right. In fact looking solely at those hitboxes his only real decent normals are both standing hp versions and cr.lk and cr.mk

This is solely on the hitbox however, thankfully we can add st.hk and st.mk to useful at least simply because of their speed and reach. Still kinda sad though, I would have thought to see better hitboxes for Bison than that.

High level bisons have all claimed that roundhouse has lost horizontal range and (I believe) gained vertical range. Andre has said that, Kim1234 has said that. I’m sure others have. I don’t know what kind of tests have been done on the matter, but I’m inclined to believe high level players over people who do theory fighter if only because high level players HAVE to know normal ranges like the back of their hand.

Perhaps, doesn’t really matter all that much though. I simply wanted to figure out why exactly Bison’s AA normals in particular had a bad habit of trading or loosing to jump-in’s. I found the answer, I may not like it but there it is.

If you play enough games with Bison cornering other people and like to throw in random s.HK after safe blocked LK Knee Press, it would hit a lot more on crouching opponents in SF4. Right now in SSF4, it misses a lot more, so you need to throw out a mix of s.MK and s.HK instead.

Standing Heavy Kick *is *a better Anti Air now because of the adjusted hitboxes.

Was there ever hitbox data on Ultra 1, 2, or his Focus Attack?

I’ll throw up FA hit box data over the weekend. Or I can mail images to someone tomorrow after work. Just PM me and we can put it up in the thread.
But for now:
FA have purple boxes (super armor). Active super armor frames vary. I always thought they were able to absorb up untill bison put his arm out. Apparently not.

FA1 absorbs from frame 0 to 10. Becomes active on frame 22 and is active for 2 frames.
FA2 absorbs from frame 0 to 29.
FA3 absorbs from frame 0 to 59. Active on frame 61.

Hitbox itself is top of his arms down to mid thigh of his forward leg.

U2 hitbox is hilarious. It’s basically the width of 3 bisons in headstomp pose. And as tall as his elbow down to below the floor.
U1 hitbox isn’t continuous. It has active frames within the scissor kicks in the animation.

Just to be able to see them would be nice. I’ve got hit box data on Juri, and I saw the purple boxes and figured that was super armor. I found both level one and two have armor until you release for the attack, but level 3 has armor all the way except for one frame before the FA’s attack frames.

But yeah, I’d love to see some of those hitboxes for Bison.

Good work Tony. Now if we could find U1 and U2 data. I am aware of how rediculously large Punisher’s hitbox is though, I’m just trying to collect pics of the attack. To collect the whole set.

I am interested in knowing about U1 though. I know it’s invicible until the first attack frame, but I don’t know exactly where that is in the animation.

I have everyone’s data. If anyone wants to see any hitboxes for specific moves from other characters i can post those, too. Like Ryu’s c.mk.

I was looking at Adon’s jaguar tooth hitbox last night, scrubbing through the different files, and noticed it has a TINY hit box. The hitbox is also well inside his vulnerable hitbox.

Yeah Adon’s thing is tacky. It trades a lot with s.HK.

Ultra 2 pic for active hitbox is in the psycho punishment thread if you guys didn’t look.

But Ultra 1’s Knee Press is just basically like the regular one except is a bit bigger so it does nail people that jump. I’ll up it later, but figured you guys kinda knew or figured out already back then :stuck_out_tongue:

Ultra 1 is up
