I heartily disagree, I think the new ultra is perfect. Made me smile when I first saw it. What up with you guys and your fetish with boring looking ultras?

cause after the 100th time you just wait for it to finish. that was too long and gay looking. but the damage was wtfbqq and it was only a half full ultra. pretty sure that’ll get tone down.

I think the ultra looks fine up until it connects with Adon and Akuma stops spinning. The spin effects should stop at that point.

It does look very looney toons and goofiness isn’t really something I associate with Akuma.

New Ultra is 720 command grab? Why did the player neutral jump?

I think he jumped because he sucked… You can see it at his first try, he does the motion but c.hk comes out.

I agree the whirlwind needs to stop as soon as akuma hits them. Other than that, it’s really cool/flashy. Screw the haters.

Why do I get the impression we are going to have a bunch of online scrubs teleport > Ultra…

when they start their ultras, if you look right above there super meter and to the right of their ultra meter, the name of the ultra they chose appears. akumas U2 is called Demon Armageddon.

Hmmm… Don’t really hate the 2nd Ultra. But don’t like it much either… Like someone else said, maybe if it was like in the vanilla SFIV intro video where he’s fighting Gouken and he sort of “air teleports” into his opponent. That would’ve looked 10 000 times cooler than the “Taz spin” thing they put on him.

On another front, this looks like a 2 hit ultra and it did about, let’s say 400-450 damage on Adon when his ultra meter was half full? If this can be comboed, what’s that going to be like with damage scaling? After a BnB, damage scaling is 70% usually So with the ultra’s first hit, it will go down to 60%, then 50% for the 2nd hit? So that’s what; 310 for BnB (j. HK, s/c. HP, LK tatsu, SRK HP) then FADC into Ultra II for another 200-250 damage? That’s almost SGS level damage and it’s comboable? That’s insane!!

I can’t believe they’d leave it like that, though. I’m sure they’re going to be toning it down…

On yet another front, do you all remember how Akuma’s SGS was ALWAYS available ONLY when he had full meters, on top of his other regular supers? In SFA, you could only Demon when all your super meter was full (LVL3) and it would drain all of it. In SF3:3s, same deal. You have to fill up the super arts meter up to 2 before you could use it and it would completely drain it. Why can’t the SGS be the same way in SFIV (and now SSFIV)? Make it only available when both the Ultra and Super meters are full and give him other “Ultra” combos for normal use like Messatsu Gou Hadou and this “Taz spin” thingy… I don’t know. I just used to like the idea that Akuma had a “hidden” ultra aside from his normal ones. That would at least justify the insane amount of damage it does, IMO.

And it could open a whole bunch of new options for Akuma users: do you use meter or ultra during the fight, or do you try to keep both and go for the big prize?

That wouldn’t be bad but it’s kind of hard to gain a full Super and Ultra meter with Akuma in SFIV. Third Strike supers came so much easier… you could just stand there and punch and it would gain.

By the time you get full Ultra in SFIV you are all but dead or your opponent is mentally retarded and throws focusable fireballs forever with out attacking.

I’d rather it be Super is Gou Hadou. Half Ultra is the new spin ultra and full ultra is SGS. Pretty unlikely though.

His current Ultra is perfectly balanced I think so I’m not sure what kind of can of worms will be opened with his new spin let alone the SGS or an additional secret one.

Akuma’s new ultra looks like he is turning into the Tazmanian devil. Lame.

Haven’t posted in awhile, but had to drop in just to comment on how stupid Akuma’s new “Raging Dreidel” ultra looks. Especially frustrating since there’s about a bazillion existing things they could have used that look a lot better.

The motion for new Ultra is … Up, Up + KKK, and he can cancel into it during a teleport.
