SGS should be Ultra-only, and thus use the original motion. His super should be Messatsu Gou Hadou / Tenma Gou Zankuu (ground/air fireball super). They should be patterned after his CvS/CvS2 version (HCBx2 for Ground, QCFx2 in air)
His other Ultra should be Kongu Kokuretsu Zan (CvS2 Shin Akuma Version, NOT the dogshit 3S verison). Blockable, but VERY fast, and if you’re in the air when it comes out you’re gonna eat it, but not as powerful as SGS. As in CvS2, make it HCBx2+3K.
Honestly, Besides some minor frame and hitbox tweaks (depending on the core system changes which, AFAIK are far from locked), thats all he really needs.
command throw. its not overpowering. and him taking a lil less damage and stun would be ideal. before people start bitching overpowered or anything, give the other characters shit to match to even it out. i hate it when people make top tiers stronger instead of making the rest better. EVERBODY in sf4 needs at least 1 or 2 moves more. and wtf is up with guile still having those 2 same old lame old moves?
Seriously, the argument that “more moves = less stamina” is fucking pissweak. Akuma is not Seth. None of his moves are godlike, hell, most of them aren’t even exceptional, outside of maybe his air projectiles and his focus attack.
You could very well leave his stamina as it currently is; he does pretty darn good for himself in his current state - that’s something that we can all agree on. I’m just saying that he really wouldn’t be any sort of overpowered if his stamina was buffed slightly. We’re not talking about Ryu level, more like along with Chun or Fuerte.
I don’t really get where you’re coming from when you say most of his moves aren’t even exceptional. The tools that he has allow him to handle most (if not all) situations that befall him, and because of that is why he has such low stamina (not to mention he deals solid amounts of damage). Even if they’re as you say “not exceptional” the diversity and usefulness of his move set would make them exceptional as a whole.
I’m with Champoo here. You really can’t say Akuma’s moves aren’t exceptional; his lk.tatsu juggles, his fp.srk does a solid 190 damage, his fireballs are pretty great, his air fireball provides tons and tons of control and pressure, his teleport makes him relatively immune to wakeup pressure, his demon flip and air tatsu together make him one of the most lethal wake-up game characters around, every single one of his EX moves is very useful (arguably not SRK, but even then, it gives it insane amounts of invincibility).
Even his Shaku is friggin nuts in this game: compared to Third Strike where it did meh damage and took about twice as long to come out and moved like 4 times slower. Shakunetsu makes his fireball war game fantastic.
There’s virtually nothing wrong with Akuma, arguably the only thing that’s wrong at this point is that he has a weakness, but he doesn’t have a -single- move that’s actually outright useless; even his rh.tatsu at the very least does 250 stun and if you do it over a fireball and catch them you can immediately combo into a fp.srk off of it.
He doesn’t need anything in particular. Maybe a nifty command normal if they -had- to do something, but beyond that, he’s pretty much set.
If they were to give him an air fireball ultra, I would ask that it be able to be done out of a demon flip to bring another level of mixup to the move, but I HIGHLY doubt they’re giving him one. It’s most likely going to be some other iteration of a raging demon-esque move.
I think thats true for the most part but when a serious Sagat (Death By Nines) or Balrog comes at him, by the time you squint your eyes to see whats really going on… YOUR DEAD!!! I think he needs stamina upped a little, and give him Misogi!
That’s Capcom’s reasoning for his low stamina, but I simply don’t think it’s needed. Akuma cannot handle all situations without his teleport or air projectiles, most importantly the latter. Akuma is a powerful character because of his ability to zone better than great deal of the cast, and pack a solid punch when he lands a hit. Neither of these are linked to his stamina.
If you keep his damage the same, his moves the same (with the exception of his 2nd Ultra), and increase his stamina by a relatively small amount, the result is only a SLIGHT buff. He’ll still be low, but not the lowest behind Seth. I honestly believe he still wouldn’t be overpowered if he had Rufus’ defense - he has to be patient and precise enough as it is to earn his damage.
As of now he is a bit Overpwer but with a few tweaks we can change that.
-lower health by 50
-Hp is a bit too strong
increase air fb dmg just a little bit
-ultra is ok, less dmg would be better
-take away hurricane kick—>sweep, this is really overpowered in the right hands
-remove the lp–>hk loop. wtf were they thinking
-ex hadouken no knockdown like ken’s. red fb still knocks down
-less invincibility on shoryuken
-to help him out a little bit maybe increase his normals dmg a bit.
HP what? Shaku? Shoryu? Far standing? Crouching? Jumping?
Ultra doesn’t need to be touched, period. It’s punishment for people doing stupid things.
It doesn’t work on everyone anyway, but I wouldn’t be concerned if it went.
Eh, never seen it used too much 'cept against big people like Sagat or Abel. Keep it in or out, it’s a 1 frame link anyway.
No, just no.
SRKs are already worse than Ryu and Ken’s, but still good.
I think they’re fine as is, but definitely increase the range of his c.mk by the smallest fraction. So sick of my feet hitting Boxer or Dictator and getting punished for a miraculous whiff.
i dunno about rufus health…but a lil more would be nice…he’s Akuma, maybe under normal level.
and give his air fireballs a slightly (like 10 degrees) more angled trajectory. That might be too much lol, but they’re just so much steeper than they used to be. Maybe somewhere in between the old gouki and new one.
Health doesn’t need to be changed. Another super would be nice, but it’s not needed due to his fantastic EX’s. Demon flip throw should be given a bit more leniency with the timing on crouching opponents (if you’ve ever tried to thrown and you landed in that godawful slide, you know why).
And personally I think the hitbox issue with some characters is absolute bullshit.
Ryu, Ken = 5"10. Second hit of st.HK will always whiff on them. Sakura = 5"2. Second hit of st.HK will always connect. Rufus = 6"5. Second hit of st.HK will always connect. Makes no sense.
But other than that…he’s perfect. Don’t overbuff him. I don’t want all the failures playing Ken and Ryu to scramble to my killing machine.
