SSF4 AE Vega Changes

Yes. Feeling good about a win, and getting compliments from people is very egotistical. Also, how does my comment bring shame to any true street fighter player? That’s a pretty bold statement if I must say so, and who are you to bring that sort of judgment to the table? What defines a “true street fighter player”? I guess playing the game for 17 something years or so doesn’t make one of the cool kids.

I was a bit upset that you said that, now I think it’s pretty damn funny.

Most of this stuff was already covered in that “Sharpening my Claws” thread, really. But just to make it clear again - the arguments of no-invincible-ST advocators basically break down to character design.
People feel he is supposed to be a character that dies to pressure. EX ST is 4F and must thus be safejumped (which is not something you can always pull off, unless your name is Ryu, JDH) or crossed up. The latter can’t even be relied on because it might auto-correct. Now, whether a move that costs 1 EX Bar and requires charge really makes him so strong defensively that he’s not typically prone to pressure anymore is debatable.
I will say this though: To a lot of Vega-purists (mostly in the old thread) his weakness is part of the fun/thrill of playing him, especially since he has a lot scarier things to work with offensively since SSFIV.

But, like various other people said, not having a reversal does not necessarily mean you have to think to get out of bad situations. Generally Vega’s worst matches break down to 7:3’s mostly because the character puts him into situations where he can not do shit except guess. Mixups - they’re random. It’s just guessing on Vega’s end, it doesn’t have anything to do with thinking more.

Also, I don’t really like bandwagoning either. But because of other reasons and in way more specific situations. I don’t like the mentality of those that don’t bother trying out their favourite character because they rely so much on tier lists, even in a balanced game like SSFIV. Of course I’m keeping pro level out of this, although even in that department I still think purists like Kuni Funada are the coolest!

Vega is not absolute broken tier or whatever. Make his FBA-Claw attack safe and then we’ll talk

Wheres Tatsu with his thoughts!? lol

Also he even said Capcom could have made unfinished things to Vega in that interview.
Hmmm i wonder things he was talking about…

bottom line-i would any day go with a better backdash compared to an i frame ex ST.vega just wont feel like a focused character anymore,im surprised moat people dont seem to get that.he’d become sort of this weird hybrid who’s going to suffer from an identity crisis.

i honestly wouldnt care if the i-frame st is added with the other properties untouched.why did they have to mess up with the back dash?all of the back dash to cosmic heel setups are going to feel weird and clunky if this turns out to be the true.

emblem lord you’re missing the point, its not what he’s gaining right now interms of an iframe AA,its the kind of stuff he’s going to loose out on with a clunky backdash, which i dont feel is going to make it a worthy trade off.im saying this again, almost all of his back dash cosmic heel/kara throw whiff punishing setups
are going to feel weird(which also happened to be 60% of what claw’s game was all about).

so if anything, vega would probably turn out to be weaker imo.

This website gives me lulz all day. Everybody is so adamant on their opinions xD

Personally, the only thing I want for vega in AE is a purpose for claw throw. make it hit like Dudley’s rose, or give it instant recovery so you can do interesting combos via attack -> claw throw -> attack some more

Caring what others think or letting others give you props get to your head or influence your thoughts on your char is utter nonsense. If you are strong then you are strong. If you are weak then you are weak. Claw getting buffed or nerfed won’t change that nor will it blind people to your skill. If Claw is bufffed to top tier instead of people saying wow you are so good with a mid tier people will say ah damn Claw, I don’t like him at all but I gotta admit your Claw is beast.

Same shit at the end of the day.

For example, I think Tokido is one of the lamest most boring fighting game players that ever walked the face of the Earth, but I fully recognize his skill.

Are these changes stuck for ever or are they just seeing how things are rite now of what they done to the game?

its just a loke test nothing is set in stone yet

In spite of living in Jersey, you do make some good points.

Totally agree on the Tokido point too ;__;

claw throw is useful to reset its durability…i think

And it was mago and tokido that said vega is still weak because hes vulnerable to rushdowns. Dont know who you’re speaking for but i think most people here will agree hes not perfect or else he’d be winning tourneys or at least placing well in them (please dont mention your weekend tourneys, they do not count).

I dont know why some people still think ex.st is going to turn vega into a bison or chun li, you’ll only need to compare what the top tier characters are capable of and realise its a ridiculous notion. He’ll definitely move up a tier and where does that place him…possibly high tier, and again so what? A strong and competitive vega oh noes…

as far as I could gather months ago (during sharpening my claws)

tatsu agrees with me.

so does cat-k and makoto apparently.

EDIT : well apparently BangMAngo you are somewhat correct, though the wording of what Mago is saying and Vega’s placement on the tier list pretty much blatantly contradict each other.

http://snskidmoviereview.wordpress.com/2010/07/05/new-ssf4-tier-lists-from-mago-and-nemo/

lol there are many guys itt who are up their own ass.

EL talking realness though.

What realness? Proposing a character he just admitted to being mid tier be bumped up to high tier?

I’m bored right now btw;

So we’re stupid for having an opinion with a pretty logical basis (keeping a well-balanced mid tier character mid tier)? Fine by me. But wait

Some pretty stupid shit. Realness indeed.

edit: double post, nvm.

they should fix vega’s ultra 1 to seek opponents in the air, when it hits the opponent on startup. That shit gets annoying when you think you won the match because you caught yer opponent with U1 startup, only to see that it whiffs. That is bull!

izuna is weak enough as it is…lowering the damage will make the little izuna vortex not even worth anyone’s time.

For me the only buff he needs is a better start up on Splendid Claw.
I worked so hard to have a good wake up game and to not panic in this situation and now they gave him a reversal Scarlet Terror after 2 years of SF4, I don’t understand Capcom…

Well i’d argue that Vega’s more balanced with these changes.

His BnB damage is lower, but his wakeup is greater. Give and take…balance.

Without these changes we’d be ‘‘ok’’ on wakeup with SC, but now we’re good. I think…

Does Vega have a glaring weakness now? Ummm…i can’t think of one tbh. Great walk speed, pokes, normals, kara throw, probably best air grab, buffed rcf pressure, good AAs, good ultra(s)…

He’s seemingly one of the few without a true weakness, and many strengths. Granted he’s in the right hands.

I’m a fan of Vega, not tier lists, i like balance but i like Vega more so yes!

Guile has the best air throw by far. He can do it closer to ground and it has more range. Unless you count instant tiger knee buffer siberian blizzard. But that’s just crazy talk!! Until arcade edition <.<’ !!!
