SSF4 AE Vega Changes

Hi guys!

I’m wondering if they changed any of his hitboxes for AE. The reason I ask is that in training I found the last hit of standing HK to whiff on a focus charging Ryu. If they actually have done this, then many focus attacks will be eating Claw alive.

I’m at work right now and can’t check it out, but I might do some tests later today against other characters. Also I never really played regular SSF4, so I’m not sure if this is something you already are aware of.

it will hit twice if you close…when his FA animation draws further back the second hit will wiff if your not close

Case 1: You are too far away. The 1st hit occurs on the chamber slightly before he extends his leg fully. The 2nd hit occurs when he fully extends his leg.
Case 2: On the 1st hit of the focus, the smart ass Ryu back dashed. Yes, you can back dash HK 1st hit to avoid second hit which begs the question… Why Capcom? He has nothing already… Why make it avoidable when you anticipate correctly? HK is supposed to punish obvious FAs >_< More reason why Claw sucks.

Case 2 has cost me so many matches -_-

AE Vega plays like a mixture of Dhalsim and Fuerte, frustrating the opponent with annoyances, can’t really pressure in neutral state, has to guess to deal damage offensively and has to rely on mistakes and meter to deal any safe damage…

And you forgot has terrible defense to rush down.

What exactly does df.HK “bait” anyway? It’s a move that rather punishes mistakes. Vega can still force OS cr.LK or stupid pokes out of the opponent just by using his walkspeed, kara throw and his own normals. I’m not gonna go too deep into this. Seriously, just read the footsies handbook.
In AE you just can’t rely on df.HK to punish crouch techs anymore. Use it sparingly in the right matchups, but avoid it as best as you can against the twins, for instance. Use cr.MK to beat their cr.LK OS instead. Walk up, cr.MK, cr.MP xx EX Walldive works well. Late cancel so you don’t need to charge beforehand.

Yeah, and all I’m saying is that it never was a bait move but rather a punishing move which is too risky to use now.

I still punish crouch techs and untimely pokes with CH. I’ve played an assortment of characters/players and I’ve yet to be punished hard for CHs. I still find great use in it, the nerf is felt way more when the CH is FA’d from my experience.

are you playing people like that like to push buttons because you are simply in their range and you are profiting from it? That is the only way I can see why you still feel like Cosmic Heel is great to use, and the nerf is over hyped. And you saying that you’ve yet to get punished hard for using Cosmic Heel says a lot more than you would like to believe. Just sayin’.

Maybe, maybe not. Maybe the comp isn’t playing the match up right. I know a lot of people who I played regurly didn’t play the match up like they should. they would play it like if i was spamming FBA or cr.mp.

Yeah I’ve considered that, surprising that no one’s punished it yet though.

I just got AE yesterday. Anyone notice the range of HK.ST has gone shorter? Im missing it on everyone; just missed it on a sagat a few times… thats shocking. By the way, not just an empty ST, im doing cr.mk xx hk.st

Few other things are different. Seems weaker, cosmic heel kinda sucks now. But… dunno, there’s something really different about him, not sure what. Seems different.

yeah i’ve noticed that too… but cant do max range cMK xx ST, but i dont remember if this was possible back in super

ok there’s definitely something wrong with s.HK in AE, im whiffing the 2nd hit way too often where im 100% sure it’ll hit if it wasnt AE.

also, did max range c.MP xx EX FBA always whiff on crouching ibukis? coz i can almost swear i never had this problem in Super.

Had loads of matches now, and yes, there is something really wrong with hk. It whiffs the second hit from a relatively close distance.

As for cr.mp to fba. Im missing it on ryu, evil ryu, oni lol. There is a lot of things wrong. I think im starting to realise why he feels so different.

Cr.mk xx st worked on big characters at max range, which now whiffs. But i can tell its much shorter, i dont recall missing ST’s before. Now im missing too many, when i confident they should connect.

i thought i noticed blocked moves having ST whiff more often
