SSF4 AE Vega Changes

I’m still pondering on the note that since cr.MK might be a stronger footsie tool now that the CH nerf is so-so. If you can footsie better (Yah yah I know CH is apparently part of footsies) with it, it might be easier to throw it into a hit as opposed to a block. I find when footie-ing already that i’m mostly throwing it into a hit, it’s almost rare that it gets thrown into a block already.

Maybe I’m just hoping too much haha.
Anyone got any stats on how much damage j.HP, cl.HP xx EX.RCF, cr.MP xx EX FBA does yet? I wanna see if the scaling is actually worth the two bars XD

this already works in vanilla and super (assuming you meant rcf)

i assure you it is much worse than so-so. i do not exaggerate when i say anything but max range is -3. mashed 3 frame normals, shoryus and spd’s will all hit vega. ive only ever tried holding back block (and up for command grabs) during the tests so maybe mashing backdash will yield a more positive result, though i dont believe the data will allow anything special.

ive done the aforementioned combo and damage wise it’s nothing special. you’re best sticking to the regular cl.fierce combo if you land a jump in. the damage is almost the same, plus or minus a smidge. if you pass through a fireball with ex-rcf then it’s worth the follow up.

Not true, normals don’t get reversal, so it is a 1-frame link on their side.

I seriously figured this would be the case. It’s worth the followup on a fireball, but honestly, the chances of you actually getting that one someone is miniscule IMO.

Remember. EX FBA apparently has reduced damage now. so it might do even less.
If it is that though. Super level damage isn’t too bad.

ji.HP > cls.HP > EX.RCF > st.HK ?

and

ji.HP > cls.MK > EX.RCF > st.HK ?

do they work ?

because they do lots of damage (360-380 ) for around 7-9% meter

I think EX.RCF > st.HK work. I think I’d rather do that than waste the extra bar. Unless it’s for a KO of course~

i haven’t noticed anything so if it has been reduced it’s not by much. i havent been looking for it specifically but if anything was changed it was very minor.

1st one yes. occasionally only the tip of s.hk will hit or only the knee of it (rare case regarding the knee). probably a hitbox/character specific thing but i haven’t looked too much into it

2nd one depends on cls.mk working in super. frame data on start up of the exrcf doesnt seem to have changed. that’s not a combo ive used before so i wouldnt know.

ST, I think people said eventually that it wasn’t, nor did it have invul. I think if it had invul but no FADC would breed some pretty bad habits in some people anyway. I’m glad I don’t have a wakeup abusable move like that because I imagine it’s a pain in the ass habit for people WITH invuls like that to break.

I think frame data confuses everyone at first. Sasaki broke it down really well for me when I first started reading up on it, so I think that helped me understand it a lot better.

i haven’t noticed any changes to pom. id pin your counter hits on the fact people react poorly to vega’s OH (at least in my experience). i usually get a free grab right after. what im betting is happening is they’re pushing buttons too slowly or made a poor choice in normals and you’re simply counter hitting them. not that im saying pom improvements are impossible, but i wouldnt know how to test that effectively in an arcade environment.

ST has never been FADCable but ill give it a shot today. who knows? maybe it is now. it would be a dick move to leave something like that out in the dev blogs though.

now you ungrateful brats, no, ST can’t be FADC’d (unless I couldnt do it in the 2 times i tried). ae vega continues to disappoint me to no end. i try to start offensives with s.lk and karas but it’s so damn difficult. i try to play a little footsies and have fun with c.mk but then they just jump on me >_>. every time i try to get back on the wagon with vega i get frustrated with what’s happened and rage. how can one stay positive?

get your life lead and stick to c.mp range. be ready to counter poke fireballers and jump back against dive kickers.

cr.mp, jumpfoward mp to air to air,flying barcelona atk when you see a devil reverse, ex ST again psycho crusher, ultra 1 against psycho as well but thats if you turtle like me =)

I’ve been playing AE for about a week now everyday after work and he doesn’t disapoint me I get atleast double digits wins and i’m having fun again in a serious arcade enviroment feels like the late 90’s to mid 00’s where everyone bring their A game because you’re paying to play.

poM wreaks havoc against crouching jabs.shorts and a lot of moves that statistically rape our usual pokes since vanilla and that was before it is an overhead and also beat people before and after the crouching move.

The fact people rapid fire 2-3 jabs/short to hit confirm into a combo helps a lot in the way of a counterhit. since they are basically in startup more than half of the time. I doubt this has been improved in AE. The sad thing about that is that PoM has such a bad startup and loses to a lot of stuff too so you get counterhit your share as well. I use it from time to time mostly against shotos that abuse their godlike cr.mk poke to zone me out to force me jump, but statistically speaking it is not a very good zoning tool.
