SSF4 AE Vega Changes

Hey you guys that have played AE, how likely/often/hard is it to punish FBs with ex-rcf?

before the ae edition came about, ive only landed roll fadc crlp combos about a handful of times in real matches. but in the ae edition i was doing it every other round againt players like haitani and beruberu. if i remember right, even the 40 year old vega main who couldnt play for shit that day was hitting the link pretty consistently.

If you guys want to test how fast his dash speed is then all you have to do is attempt a FADC after a non EX RCF and use cr fierce which will confirm if it is at least 19 or cr mk which will be at least 18, assuming that RCF properties are the same on hit.

It sure looks like you can still use Ultra 2 as AA to me…!

You can its just harder.

I don’t think people realize that now with U2 you can activate it sooner when someone goes for a jump in, and it will still hit if they throw out a move but what do I know?

Is it me or when that video showed Vega using CH he got countered even at tip point? Its at 14:23. So CH is not to be used unless its in a combo or a wake up game. :frowning: This is getting depressing.

Vega looks solid nevertheless. His cr. MK buff looks really nice.

The problem is that not only do you have to react earlier but you have to make sure that they attack earlier… otherwise their attack will not come out and they block as they land, and then you get punished hard. Smart players are just going to attack slightly closer to the ground. SC will no longer be a semi effective AA. You may get it here and there, but more often than not it will just be countered.

@Kei_Kun- The only reason he got hit is because he tried to attack after a blocked CH. It even shows the counter hit for the chunli. Even if Vega was at +0 his 4 frame attacks will still get stuffed by Chun’s 3 frame attacks.

Yea I see it… Its still ugly though. Such a perfectly landed CH and so little reward.

Vega looks great, question to the other Vegas out there:

Do you think Vega’s changed backdash will help him escape a punish via poorly spaced CHs?

I know it’s not as sexy as a mixup but will it help?

When the recovery is so long, that you can’t even block 4-frame reversals (see the video vs Giefs Lariat), how should backdash work?

I thought Tatsu tested it out against Warahk’s Guile and he blocked his jabs/teched his grabs safely?

E:DIT: Yeah here’s what I’m talking about:

Besides checkout 15:45 on that a-cho vid. He safely backdashed out of a cr.jab, just wondering in the scenario where the CH is spaced worse than that one will it get us out of trouble? At least a little?

Little help here that means we can have a chance to get out the combo from cr.jab, but Lariat or Shoryuken and Flash Kick can smash our face :frowning:

^ Pretty much. I guess you could say now is where people who’s footsies suck who rely on Cosmic Heel as their main offensive tool might want to start practicing them.

Im just wondering, on eventhubs they stated that some of the changes for Vega was reduced damage on cr.mp and cr.mk (or was it cr.hk?). Can anyone confrim this?

And if it’s true, (which it prolly is) does anyone know how much dmg both attacks do now?

Thanks!

The damage reduction in cr.mp and cr.mk is balanced out by the fact that you will be comboing cr.mk into cr.mp much more often. I’m not sure if anyone knows the exact numbers.

The Cosmic Heel change hurts a bit, but luckily for me I mostly use it only to punish, move around, and try and catch backdashes. I never got a strong feel for catching pokes with it, so I’m not too upset.

I was a bit more miffed about the slower U2, because I really like it as a deterrent to too much pressure. However, lets try and see if it has more invincibility now as well as a longer startup. In SSF4 if Cody starts his Dread Dust U2, and then claw immediately counters with Splendid Claw, claw still loses. If in AE claw wins, his invincibility has been increased!

I highly doubt SC got any buff. The only ultra that may have received a buff is BHC and that would be to fix it missing when you hit the ultra. So probably a hitbox fix if anything for BHC.

Saw some video of Vega in AE 1 day ago
Also base on http://img704.imageshack.us/img704/8306/29cl3yq.jpg we can simply conclude that Vega is not so weak anymore
People shouldn’t worry so much on change, what we need now is practice and training

Vega isn’t weak because of week 2 charts showing people are using him a lot?

Base on BP, we saw that Vega might be placed at mid-tier, not so bad as we consider he is weakened
As Vega users, we should be more optimistic
Here are 6 parts of testing AE in Japan, Vega users here seem so strong
