depends on character… offensively tho i’m probably about 60% offense 40% defense. most characters i can rush down. (Vega, Ryu, Blanka, Hakan, etc). reverse that with the characters i cant. i’m about 60% defense 40% offense. (people like Juri, Guile, Honda, thawk, etc). zangief is 10% offense 90% defense/run away
Vega = 50% offense 50% defense
everything I do is intended to pressure, which leaves me less likely to get jumped in on or owned in my own right, etc
i’m always in the same space where i can hurt people but not get hurt myself,
that’s pretty much my goal 100% of the time
it appears that vega is a very offensive character but i don’t think it’s necessarily the case because if you’re not playing offensively then you’re not playing defensively, cause he can’t turtle

Vega needs to approach carefully, and apply pressure where he can both apply poke pressure, counter poke, kara throw, and knock you down. Once he knocks you down, that is where all of his (imo) can start his pressure, with meaty mix ups, cross ups, and os punishes.
Its hard to give a number because against opponents who know what they are doing its so hard to get in a position where you can start all your offense.

I think Capcom’s mindset is to reduce the corner rape pressure Vega can be subject to. I’ve watched games where Makoto will perfectly play someone for 50 seconds and lose the game when all he’d need to land would be two cr.MPs… If you happen to get cornered against some characters, all you can do is block, tech throw and pray (or burn U2). That’s probably why they buffed his forward dash too.
Caveat – I’m a pretty low tier Vega. Thinkinng about it from a VS standpoint, even I think the I-frames on EX ST would be pretty annoying TO PLAY AGAINST. A vega with a life lead would be able to sit back and turtle and poke / counter pretty much everything.
A better solution to solving the corner pressure might be something like buffing EX SHC so that it continues through the target on block like it does on hit (as opposed to bounce off like it does on block currently). It would give him a non damaging escape tool in the corner and might be punishable if baited by certain characters (blanka ball, bison u2, etc).
Either that or make EX SHC have different heights based on the combination of buttons used like Juri’s ex fireballs. EX SHC MK+HK could be used as an escape tool.
Normally if you say fuck this guy ppl are gonna have something to contribute, usually not positive and I think ppl who would agree with you don’t care anyways
