keep dreaming dude. SFxT is SF5. That’s what fighting games are now: chain combos for everyone, rushdown only.
people aren’t going to admit it, but sf4 was the last great fighter. you’ll only figure that out when you play the next one they come out with, though, and then everyone will clamour for an sf4 revival, just like they were doing for sf3 recently.
on topic: ex hadou from ex df SEEMS cool, but only if it hits over head… cos if it doesnt then it’s not really anything.
Ryu has his cr. forward back, while Ken lost his combo into sweep…
I’m trying very hard to find the sarcasm. So you want to use an EX bar just… because you can?
What’s so good about EX air fireballs after a demon flip in your eyes?
Unless it gives an awesome mixup, 2 bars better spent elsewhere methinks?
No one would mind that. But it’s Capcom and not going to happen. See Hawk’s old EX spire to EX dive.
WTF I can’t believe crapcom are trying to nerf a top 5 character’s 7-3 match ups. No reason to play Akuma anymore. He’s going to be dan/hakan tier in 2012.
Even if they add the option for non ext demon flips, this whole change itself is absolutely ridiculous. Why change the very gameplay of a character this late in the SF4 series? Why change him at all?
Players like Tokido and Infiltration have incorporated the fs.hk into their footsie game in a way that only works at high level gameplay (walk back whiff punish crouch tech). The move is utter shite now.
It’s like they have no clue how long players have practiced to make certain things work on CERTAIN characters.
If they are going to give us a pointless demon filp combo they need to take away the bright yellow flashes or at least make them start later.
Sad about the st Hk but what ya going to do. I would really like to see Shaku combo get some of its damage back. Man there are a lot of little things I would do to Akuma to make him better. however I guess I am bias since I play Akuma.
To the the people who think that far roundhouse only got effected vs Gief, you’re seriously mistaken. Far roundhouse is Akuma’s pressure tool vs characters who can’t dodge the 2nd kick. Look at Tokido pressuring with Far roundhouse into cr.mp into another far roundhouse vs characters like Adon, Sagat, Abel, Guile…etc, now after a blocked far roundhouse, our cr.mp will technically come out in 6 frames at least, opponents will have a ton of options to stuff it out on startup.
I remember Tokido mentioning far roundhouse being an essential tool for Akuma, I’m really interested to hear what he thinks about this particular nerf since the throw nerf didn’t bother him much, will it be bad enough to drop the demon?
I guess this is the final changes right? If so, I can see Akuma very easily being mid tier in AE v2012 and considering his character design/health/stun that doesn’t make any sense, Capcom has done a very good job Fucking his shit up this time around.
Fucking sick of those cunts at Capcom and their nerfs to Akuma. One week we get the everloving fuck nerfed out of the vortex and the next week we get our normals nerfed, even though the normal in question was already only viable against half of the cast.
FUCK YOU CAPCOM I QUIT THIS GAME AND I’M NOT BUYING ANOTHER FIGHTING GAME OF YOUR’S BECAUSE WHAT’S THE POINT IN LEARNING A CHARACTER WHEN HE IS REVISED EVERY SIX MONTHS. FUCK YOU.
Players will learn to deal with it. Akuma’s just going to be taken for a ride if he just throws that st.roundhouse out there.
He’s still gonna be good, no doubt… even after nerf nerf nerf. He’s just going to play really differently. No more vortex for top tier.
I saw the -2 nerf and didn’t really read the damage nerf, so on top of removing far roundhouse as a pressure tool and making it totally punishable vs certain character like Gief (Wow now that I think about it: Guy, Rog and Honda will be able to punish us with their 1f grab ultras on block, right? LOL).
They Nerfed the damage from 100 to 80, because that move was TOOOOO GODLIKE
Cr.MP? Great move, but average active frames and too short range for a poke. It’s more like an decent counter-poke.
cr.MK? Unreliable as fuck. As soon as you hit your opponent from a reasonable range, you lose all combo ability.
cr.HK? Awesome move, but without a decent amount of other possibilities, can be easily telegraphed and focused.
st.HK? Whiffs on half the cast and now becomes -2 on block?
Yep. And like other posters have said, c.MP is weakened also by this fs.HK nerf because it has less application potential for frame traps. c.HK is still a really good normal, but it’s not enough.
This is basically what Akuma as a character has to work with now:
-A good c.MP
-A great sweep
-Good wake up options after a sweep
-Decent zoning ability (bear in mind that our FBs do less damage than Ryu’s, recover a frame slower, and our DP has much narrower horizontal range)
That’s not enough to make him a tourney viable character. I will be very surprised in Tokido sticks with him after this latest nerf. I really don’t know what Capcom was thinking. They shouldn’t be doing stuff like this to a character that was already well-balanced (albeit quite high on the tier list). He’s a hard-work character too. You can’t just pick up Akuma and win with him. You have to invest time. What incentive is there to invest any time with him now? Fucking Capcom.
Akuma’s recovers a frame faster but has a slower startup by 1 frame.
That reminds me, someone please tell Capcom to add a few extra recovery frames to both ground and air fireballs, I don’t like playing with broken characters.
We’ll see about that, I want to hear what Tokido says and see how he deals with this now, -2 frames isn’t really that much of a punish opportunity, at least it’s the way I see it. The only problem is vs Gief, but Gief has much more stuff to worry about when he’s playing againts Akuma then his st.HK, it’s not like he’s been losing cuz of that move lol.
Anyway, if Tokido says it’s fine, then it’s fine and I can deal with it. If not, then I’ll consider switching.
P.S. I’m just curious, when ver.2012 hits us, will we still be able to play SSF4 not AE? Cuz Akuma from SSF4 is all I really need (though I really like the extended hit box on U2 but I will gladly give that away any day of my life for my vortex and standing roundhouse back to what it’s used to be), so I may be just going back to SSF4, assuming there will be at least a decent amount of people still playing it.
P.P.S. And just to make things interesting, tell me guys, would you agree to get Akuma back to his AE version in cost of returning the twins to their formal broken state? I think I would xD
Ken didn’t exactly get the best buffs, he got his st.jab > sweep removed which was another Very pointless nerf by Capcom. I also don’t remember him using Ken much at all, he did use Seth from time to time.
Ryu looks like the best shoto in AE v2012 in my eyes so far.
