I’m so depressed at this. I wasn’t expecting them to revert anything, but hoped for the EX Tatsu to be fixed. Or something interesting like Ryu. Bleh.

Anyway: Ryu’s buffs are good. I remember Daigo antiair like a monster in vanilla with that fierce DP, yet in Super he wasn’t as effective with MP DP. 160 damage off a 1 hit move is good, I don’t get why some consider it a nerf. I mean the move as it is now it’s useless, it’s just a midscreen combo ender when you don’t FADC and you need some more damage and choose not to go HK Tatsu. It’s not a spectacular buff, but still okay and adds some variety. Also, +10 damage on fireball is great for his game.

Seth’s nerf, I don’t get it. Sure he can still FADC off first hit, but then he’s not confirming shit anymore. I agree that his mixup there was kinda hard to deal with, but dunno…

Overall Honda gets even better, Chun can now combo into roundhouse SBK for good damage, and Gouken gets 340955 buffs and people will still want more.

Did they just give +10 damage on the best HK (Dictator’s) in the game?

DF slide was already almost useless, but now that no more DF is overhead, please Capcom remove that DF version…lol.

What the hell? Didn’t they say they might reintroduce the loop again? Give us something man.

EIther of these will make up for the nerfs:

  • cl.s.LK +6 on hit
  • improved hitbox for st.lp.
  • tatsu sweep on all characters.

If you want a weaker Vortex Akuma, at least make his ground game better or something.

This was expected. Akuma is still going to be good enough, especially considering that his 2 worst matchups have been nerfed way more than him

I’ll wait till tomorrow for that, Ryan Hart twitted they were gonna buff Yun a bit again lol

Yeah, I think they hit Yang especially hard: why did he get less stun than Yun? And why does his palm build less meter?.

Yun’s damage had me wondering, that seems way too harsh too but I’ll wait and see how that impacts. The target combo became kind of horrendous.

I also don’t know about the upkicks, @ SBO they punished every single one of those for huge damage, I still think that wasn’t to be nerfed, maybe just the recovery on the LK one which was Ken-ish…

To be honest, the thing I was the most happy with was the nerf to their cr.LK, it was impossible to hit that :E

Can’t wait to see tomorrow’s changes. I actually wonder whether those will be final.

Which characters are you referring to?

I still consider Ryu a difficult match-up and that sodomite has been buffed combined with us being nerfed in areas that directly affect this match-up.

I assume you’re referring to Y&Y? Yang’s had a kick in the nuts, but Yun still strikes me as fully functional.

Ah, 2012 … I’m so frustrated I’m laughing. All my side characters got jack shit, and Akuma gets nerfed lol! Maybe I’ll graduate to 3rd Strike.

Bison also got buffed and that is a tough ass matchup.
Lol actually anyone who has safe pressure is a hard matchup for me :frowning:

I was playing E.ryu earlier and I lost to an Adon because I didn’t know how to punish that u1 lol he did a random full screen u1…I didn’t realize it recovered so fucking fast that i couldn’t walk up combo…ended up costing me the match, should’ve just counter ultra’d.

He got +10 damage on his best normal, +50 stun on his best special and better FADC combo for +30 damage.

I wish we’d get that lol.

I’m kind of happy E.Ryu sweep went back to 7f though. Dudley got moar love.

Well…As it stands in AE, Bison is 5-5, and and Akuma is 5.5-4.5 (in my opinion) in the current edition of AE. If you know your OS, and your ground game is solid akuma pretty much beats not only bison,but every character in the game(minus twins and seth for me). I hate Yun of course, but I also think seth is secretly gonna creep to the top as the contender for the best character in 2012,along with Gat.

Edit: ^ about dudley, I think he got some of the better buffs out of 2012, 3 Frame DP helps, but I still dont think it has invincibility unless it was a stealth buff. I might use him in 2012 just for fun,I think im done playing competettively though.

Pretty sure his DPs (excluding EX) still aren’t invincible, 3f Jet upper will probably only help him for punishing stuff (i.e deep Rog dash punch).

Bison’s buffs are decent, his far st.mk (a better poke than st.hk imo) already does 70 damage, it makes sense that the roundhouse version would do a bit more than +10 extra damage like in AE, 90 still isn’t much because that thing is used as an AA (crappy one at that) and for example vs Gief it now always trades in his favor (in-case people don’t know, far roundhouse used to hit for like 110 or 120 before then got nerfed after all the complains about it lol).

Anyway, I can see in the blog that some alpha phase changes were cancelled (like E.Ryu’s cr.hk 6f), there’s one more test location right? If so, that gave me some hope that maaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe we’ll have one of our nerfs cancelled or get a tiny small buff lol.

Surely they’re not gonna go beyond a beta test? I think this is pretty much the final version.

Anyway, assuming that this is the final version, how do you guys think this will affect Akuma’s current worst match-ups? I think Fei and Viper got marginally easier, but I’m unsure about the twins. They obviously got some significant damage nerfs, but we also lost the ability to safe jump them off a forward throw. That, combined with the palm nerf, might make the match up even harder. Then again, they did receive a nerf to their dive kick, so I suppose it comes down to whether the nerf is significant enough to make DP’ing dive kicks on reaction a feasible strategy.
