Yeah. I’m sorry but if they play the match correctly, you lose. That’s just how it is. Sorry.
drat guess there’s nothing i can do about it then
Vs Juri: Know exactly how many fb’s she has ready at all times.
@ Health advantage/even health: Don’t style. If you’re in, stay in. If not, don’t try. She can’t even do chip at fullscreen so just wait it out.
@ Health disadvantage: you may find yourself at fullscreen at a health disadvantage. What you should do is quickly gage your yomi level and that of your opponent if yours is more than double your opponents, get in with smart walks, spires, jumps, dives and blocks. If it isn’t, build meter for the next round. I guess you could try to push towards the corner, but that most likely won’t work.
Honestly? If you want to get a handle on fireball mixup bullshit, use Gouken. Kind of a lame answer, but it’s extraordinarily effective to learn what goes into that when you literally have nothing else going for you but that mixup. Basically, if you think it’s at all possible, you just crouchblock. Don’t focus because Ted’s shit dash leaves you open to palm or Juri’s dive. Best you take chip, worst you calculate wrong and eat FB damage that doesn’t really matter so long as you’re not constantly eating FB damage.
Second thing is, there are two primary functions of Juri’s or Gouken’s angled fireballs. The biggest is to keep you from jumping, which isn’t a big deal: against Gouken, you’re crouchblocking either way. Nothing you can do about it. Juri’s different in that her FB startup sucks so bad that they’re not going to be using it like Gouken, and most players tend to hang on to the mid and low fireballs, which are entirely jumpable. Once that high fireball goes out, it doesn’t matter anymore, and the other fireballs are really only useful for point-blank combos you cant to anything about if you get hit with the leadin anyway.
Juri’s not baiting your jumpin, you’re baiting her high FB. Worry more about pinwheels.
What the fuck do you do against Rose?
I wish I could have reocrded some of my matches at AI this last weekend vs this one guy’s Juri, Viper, and Ibuki. He was instant death for Hawk. A good player will destroy Hawk. I’m not saying I’m great.
You can’t always count Juri’s FBs because she can release the charges without having the FB come out. If you give someone space they can sit there and make it all an illusion.
what sim players discuss of ted
here is the match-up thread for sim vs ted in the sim’s forum:
http://shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=238828
i find reading an opponent’s match-up thread useful for what-not-to-do.
typical things are free U2 or st.fp on blocked CD. more in their thread…
To a limited extent. For one thing a held charge is a kick they can’t use, so if they’re diving at all that’s a tipoff. It’s also really awkward since unlike Cody’s bingo or Rog’s TAP, holding kicks screws with dexterity for everything else. Basically, it sucks to hang on to a lot of charges, so unless they’re establishing that they’re holding on to crap for a long time, it’s a pretty shoddy mindgame especially given the tradeoff on their end. Double especially against high HP chars.
Another is that for combos most Juris seem to want to hang on to the low, immediately or soonish release the high hoping you’ll jump into it, and try to do some stupid fakeout with the mid. Maybe your Juri was different, but the shelflife for a fireball charge seems to be pretty short even if they try to fake it by releasing it during another move.
what do you do against a skilled seth player?
i remember Seth being a not so good match up for zangief in vanilla
wondered if hawk takes just as much of a beating from crazy seth’s
A lot of the time Seth will try to act like Sim. However, when doing this, he is much more predictable because he only has two far hitting normals. If you start hurting him when he does j.Hp or st.Hp, He’ll be wary about using them more, and may even just switch to rushdown. He has no health so a couple good reads can go a long way. I suggest using EX 360 and EX DP often.
So yeah…how bout that Ibuki match up? Is anyone else getting their asses handed to them by this teenage girl? **Specifically when she gets into that chaining aerial target combo bullshit. **
Finally! My first stickied thread! Now, you’ll never hear from me again.
j/k
Raging Slash beats the vortex. I’m pretty sure the most effective way to beat Ibuki is just to out lame her. Get a life lead and turtle your ass off.
Thanks. I usually get beat by her because I get tired of waiting. My main problem with the way I play now is I get too antsy, jump in or advance too many times, and suffer severe punishment for it. I need to work on my patience, but thanks for the tips.
Umm. yeah. So the other day I was fighting a really, really good Chun player. I’m baffled. He never jumped at all the 2 matches I played him in round robin play. He just out-poked me and if I jumped it meant df+lk into U2. Because, you know, it beats all our jump ins. How in god’s name do you win?
Chun’s cr.mp was specifically destroying my pokes. I can counterpoke everything else but cr.mp was my nightmare. He got counters on that sucker all day.
Yes, I use U2, and I am surprised that it actually made the match WORSE for Hawk.
If you manage to score a knockdown then you can likely ride it all day. Ibuki has pretty garbage defensive options and needs meter just to have an invincible reversal that loses to crossups for free anyway.
after playing vegafoo(one of the best vega’s you’ll run into online)i think it’s safe to say
the vega match up is highly in vega’s favor
not much hawk can do other then tomahawk buster or raging slash to knock his ass out of the sky
this match up is mind games for the most part
^^I thought c.hp beat all of vegas wall dive business? Its not nice, but I find turtling vs Vega and waiting for him to try an Izuna or wall dive and then smacking him out of the air seems to make him think twice about using these moves and more having to beat you on the ground…where he still has an okay time with his decent long pokes.
What do you guys do for wakeup games on Blanka? I can’t find anything that works due to his EX upball.
Thats why, so far, I’ve only been doing hp typhoon on him when i have the chance to typhoon as I see no use using lp typhoon on him as I cant follow up on wakeup
i think hawk has the clear advantage over zangief
unless your in the air or playing recklessly
his lariat isn’t going to help him out much
and his normal’s aren’t as good as Thunder’s
ya know it’s just too bad zangief players aren’t as rampant as they were in vanilla SF4
otherwise we’d have a lot more red cyclone vs thunder matches
instead we have to prepare ourselves for projectile happy characters and guys that can run circles around us without breaking a sweat
