Okay, thanks. Idk, I just hate how once he does that it just seems to loop over and over again. It’s retarded.
You can simply neutral jump out if they go for knees and if they whiff the grab then you can punish hard when you land.
I’ve tried doing that but for some reason it doesn’t work. Idk how to explain it, but it seems like everytime I get crossed-up J.LK it just keeps me grounded long enough to where I can’t avoid being Bear Grabbed like 90% of the time. Even when I hold jump, mash jump like crazy, try to time it, it just doesn’t seem to work if the Gief Player knows how to time the crossup correctly. Am I missing something here?
You must be missing something, that doesn’t make any sense. If you hold up while getting hit, you will enter prejump frames as soon as you leave hitstun (or blockstun, in other cases), and those are not grabbable.
My problem with jumping is that you are still at risk… Jumping is the a guarantee to get out of the situate, especially of he has ultra 2 stocked… T.hawk has a few options to get out of that situation…if you want to jump… Neutral jump into condor dive is up there for one of your best bets. Neutral jump splash and elbow drop have applications here too, especially since elbow drop is a very good air to air option and has a good enough hit box where it can beat headbutt if drop is active first, toy around in training mode, you have options. I’d rather him do that than splash me, honestly

Played a bunch of games against German Luger tn. I think that hawk/Claw is 6-4.
In Hawks Favor? Mmmmmm

lol of course not. In Claw’s favor.
You are to
You are too optimistic with your 6 - 4’s! When you said that Blanka is a hard 6 - 4 matchup I literally died inside. Jking
Lol I might have went too far saying Blanka is 6-4, but claw is definitely 6-4 for Claw. At least you can mix him up when you knock him down.
What do you think about the following match-up: Hawk vs Rose?
An online friend of mine plays her, and from my experience(s), the match-up is quite even.
6 - 4 in Roses’ favor. Rose out-footsies Hawk and he really depends on meter in this matchup to get in but with those Soul Sparks flying at him constantly it’s really tough to build the meter.
Hawk is pretty much disadvantaged (doesn’t mean all of them are bad matchups) against almost all projectile characters in the game. I think the only 3 characters Hawk can potentially (I really emphasize on the potentially) have even 5 - 5 matchups with is Dan, Ibuki and Sakura.
Hmm, I agree with the footsies.
Rose also got quite some tools to punish whiffs. When in the air, she has Soul Throw (respect it!). Blocked Condor Dive/Spire: Soul Spark, Spire, kicks, Ultra 1… Be wary of Ultra 2 also, it’s her ticket in. Getting in on her first is the way the go I say from the countless matches I’ve played.
Rose is 5-5 in my opinion. She’s got good pokes but you can beat them when spaced right. Her fireballs give her an edge but once you knock her down she’s done. Rose has one of the worst wake-up games in history so if you keep pressure on her there’s nothing she can do.
Against rose… On wakeup… Meaty sweep. Lol. Test it. Beats backdash, fa, ex spiral, ex soul throw whiff free punish… Then she will start blocking… This is ur chance to mix up with spd???
I don’t play hawk… But I know meaty sweep is annoying.
I need a counter to Bison slide/float whatever. Also, what do you do against st. HK?
What’s the chance of Rose catching me with her Soul Throw when I try to splash her on wakeup, because it happens quite often?
If the bison slides max range and only hits you at the end of the slide, there is nothing you can do about it. If its a good bison, and they miss judge the slide spacing, they will always fadc out. As for devil/s reverse/ headstomp, the hit box on it is big so if you tried to hit it or anything, it usually will beat you out of it. Ex DP sometimes works but you have to time it. If they time the stomp wrong, just hold back to block and you will sometimes take a step back if you aren’t already in block stun. Punish accordingly after.
Bison’s standing HK can be countered with low mk at around max range, anywhere close and it will hit you since thawk has a big hitbox when he is ducking. If they start using standing mk instead, you can counter hit it with your standing mk or if you are fast enough, standing mp or fp the whiff.
The bison match up is one of those where you need good spacing to play against, if not they will just counter hit you all day. Learn the spacing right outside of the standing HK range and counter. if you are being predictable with the HK, focus dash and spd it. Hope it helps.
Yes! Thank you very much.
So just to confirm, if Bison starts doing headstomp/EX headstomp to chip you out at the end of a round, you’re pretty much screwed, right? Or is there anything you can do in the air that beats headstomp clean? I’d assume if you were psychic you could beat it, but nothing that you can do after he leaves the ground?
Bison is hard if you don’t know what you are doing. Hung is right, spacing is soo important. As far as reverse there I really not much you can do if it would chip. If it trades, its not in your favor… Reverse in general is hard to aa properly.
If he does it on wake up your pretty much sol.
If he does it at unsafe ranges you can thrust peak, dp…neutral jump fierce and roundhouse… Its really hard to explain… It’s incredibly space and timing specific. Gotta go in endless with a bison and practice it. You’ll see what works where. I would explain but would make absolutely no sense. Sometimes you can do anything about it, bisons got big feet.
It’s gotta crack out against bisons. Bison is actually pretty simple once you get used to it… It’s in hawks favor but its not a match, like say Geif, that you can flow chart and be ok 60% of the time
