I’m having loads of trouble trying to get the Hadouken into Shinku Haduken combo going. Can anyone show me a video with slo mo or anything? I just can’t get the timing. I’ve pulled it off half a dozen times but I just can’t get it down

You can’t do a shinkuu if there’s another one of your projectiles on screen. You have to cancel your first fireball immediately. Practice doing this quickly (basically, just throw two fireballs as quickly as possible):

Okay something infuriating just happened to me, I was fighting against a zangeif and he managed to SPD my cr.mk.
I think this is because of the changes to the hitbox of cr.mk can anyone confirm? It really seemed kind of stupid because he managed to SPD me further than the range of cr.mk.
Happen to me so many times in SSF4, i dont think it has anything to do with c.mk nerf. Zangief did get a buff in range in his
light SPD in AE.
Yeah I’m aware of the buff this just seemed to be an extreme range for SPD maybe it’s just that buff that got me.
Ryu is still one of the best, can combo into super and ultra in many ways!!
yeah I said I was switching to Ken but I just can’t commit. So far since AE dropped I almost qualified at CEO (lost to two good players) and this weekend I got 5th in a local not losing to any average yun player.
I see why this game is ass because of that yun player. I had to do A LOT more work then he did with the same results. Shoutouts to Javits and Jeron for telling me how Ryu can stuff his dive kicks.
Now as far as matchups go, I agree with Abel. Did they nerf his ultra 1? Or at least any links to it cause I got hit and saw he took shit damage lol. This matchup is hella easier now.Same with Sim and Rose.
IMO these are his hardest matchups now.
Guy, Gief, Rufus, T.hawk, Makoto, Sagat, Fei, Yun, and Yang, and Bison. I used to think viper was too but she still bleeds so it’s not that bad. These are all just my opinions on this.
I wouldn’t drop Ryu. He still is one of the best characters in the game for the simple fact that he still has too many options.
Ryu does have a lot of options, He is still a strong character but you need a lot of dedication to be very good with him. Playing Ryu decently
is not easy since you have to find the right combo for the situation, spacing, zoning…its taxing on the brain. Having a fireball is nice but
its a big commitment, playing a smart fireball game require energy.
Compare to a Fei Long were you always combo into rekka so your mental energy can be use elsewhere in the mind game etc…
I like the way that they “nerf"ed him. For the people that really try to play him it places them on more of a level ground with other players whithout having to hear"you only won cause your playing ryu!!” ugh sore losing noobs. But i do agree in some aspects that they need to do something. with everything that they did id like to see him with a roll or like many people have said to change his kicks up. Regardless i like what they did to him.
AE Sagat is harder I think. Just get zoned to death now. It’s definitely the weaker cr.mk and nerfed forward tatsu that make it tougher.
thats true but Sagat has always been an ass for zoning people. the new changes just really help him push that. Something else that i have notices is that against cammy her cannon spike can really punish you if your not on your game.
I just got AE on pc. I really like this version of Ryu even though its not the best version. his nerfs taught me a lot and I welcome. Seldom do i wish he had his original bacause of the active frames but the recover is nice.
Things I noticed. My footsies are more on point and I dont know why.
Mp shoryu doesnt trade as much. Much better for zoning.
Mayb e his air to air attacks got weaker. I feel like I am getting beaten out in the air alot.
Overall he feels faster and more of a slugger. and His zoning i think got better ( or I am just getting better)
I thought cancelling s.mp would be a nice buff but its worthless. WORTHLESS

mp srk is the same from what I heard (and experienced)
And his far ST is useful only in certain matchups (ex: Bison) but for the most part yeah its kinda useless since very seldom it combos.
also ae for PC is bad until they fix the frame issues (randomly drops).
His zoning is still good but just not as strong since tooooo many characters can get around it. It’s more predicting what your op is gonna do imo.

(@Rockman85) Thats what iv been saying!! I mean i know that i have notived a few changes that have made me change the way that i play with him but overall i really like what they have done. I have also noticed that he is faster, even if by a little its a difference. But maybe you have gotten better!! do you play with a fightstick or a controller?
I use a stick. The more I play the more I hate his c.mk nerf. Do not even bother using it against the twins unless its part of a block string. It seems like everyone’s footsies got better but Ryu’s

i honestly dont really play the footsies game, so it doesent bother me. the only thing that i have noticed that really gets to me if anything is the longer recovery of his med uppercut. Other than that i love the changes.
PC AE is great, though I only use PC as for training when I’m away from my console, times when Im on a trip or a course and I wanna take a break. That said though, I find my timing on links to considerably improve now that AE is more and more accesible for me and I find that my playstyle has changed from “a fireball turtling Ryu” to a “More of a risktaker Ryu”. I still zone with hadokens but not as much anymore and when I find that when the opponent is in a somewhat safe distance for him, I would approach more quickly to close the distance with dashes or whiffed light or mid tatsus during the blockstun, a workabout I use to compensate for his CR.MK nerf.
Probably the nerfs were to introduce a less accessible ryu to the audience, and was meant for people who understood the game a bit better than most players. I dunno, I feel right at home with AE Ryu now.
So to compensate for a weaker c.mk i realized that I have to fireball better now. Basically using it as a poking tool. It seems that people try to stay just outside of c.mk so that if you were to wiff they would counter. Feirce fireball is best for situations like this its fast enough that theother person would have to react quick enough to block or even jump over it. Weak fireball up close gets you jumped in on. Walking back and forth really messes with peoples spacing freeing you up to fireball. I sure this is all basic stuff.
the best use I found for s.mp is c.lp x 3, s.mp xx hado. It connects on crouchers. I dunno if its a tru block string or not but it works for me.
