PR rog was playing rog yesterday when I got there.
Ugh I was trying to play Ryu last night, got bodied hard. The tatsu nerf really hurt him a lot since now its easy to corner ryu now.
I played min using fei long and arturo’s sim. Now it seems like its more of a patient game to use ryu now more than just zone/run away since his zoning is not that strong anymore.
I didn’t get to test anything out with him

Ryu is totally shit now. Worse than Dan. Bottom tier no doubt. Capcom screw it up. This AE is a real failure.
What the hell is SF without decent ryu? It’s a total screw up as ryu is unplayable now. Now I understand why Daigo dropped ryu.
The problem is that not about ryu not being able to air tatsu escape. Rather, more of ryu unable to use air tatsu to fly forward to pressure properly. His mobility is already low without air tatsu. Now, he’s just a stupid sitting duck.
All other buff doesn’t matter. This is one big big screw up. I’ll train Dan instead damn it.

ryu might be worse than in super but not that much worse. bottom line: if daigo abandons ryu, there will be tons of deserters.
guile, adon, rose, and rufus matchups should have gotten better for ryu.
sim matchup might be better or worse because of the nerf on attack tatsu. his nerf to st.HP will help out a lot. majoritof posters had this match at 5.5 anyways :).
fei long still sucks (worst match up?) - but the majority of the players on this forum have this match as even.
cammy, seth, got better for ryu too.
imo, ryu was a solid mid tier in super - somewhere between 10 - 15th in rank. he is probably in the same spot now.

i kinda doubt it. i’ve been playing ryu since vanilla and honestly, he’s been a great character in both games so far. he’s just been the solid character thats been able to adapt to most any situation you throw at him. a few frame changes, damage tweaks and one nerf couldn’t be enough to send him to the bottom of the barrel. i plan to still main him in AE to see what he’s got. i’m definitely not convinced that he’s worse than dan.
mobility was never an issue for me while playing ryu in vanilla or super, even when i wasn’t using air tatsu to try to escape/get in.
i agree with bguile, there are very few matchups you actually need air tatsu, even to escape. ryu has had all the necessary tools to work his way out of a certain situation or make a good situation better.

clHK is too slow,before clHK you probably can do just J.HK/j.HP (a jf.MK too,so you probably can do it after a cross up), a FA or maybe a hado FADC into cl.HK
The thing is that after a FA a SPS will probably still be a more powerfull option
I think that jf.MK(cross up) -> cl.HK -> HP SRK is going to be really good in some match up

And I say again, Im sure if they just copy and past the Vanilla´s Ryu into AE, he will be ran over by any okizene specialist char. Ryu´s style simply dont fit into the SF4 serie.
Daigo struggled to win the western tournaments with him in the early days of the Super era, and had to switch in order to do it in the late days.

To all the Ryu mains, or former Ryu mains. Escape tatsu is gone. Boo boo fucking hoo. Get over it. At least you nt going to end up like fucking Makoto from SSF4. She is fun as fuck, but she was a mess. She had absolutely NO GOOD MATCH-UPS!!! She is probably going to stay bottom tier unfortunately. Ryu is probably going to crack the top 10, maybe the top half of the cast at worst. If he ends up bottom tier, like #30 or lower, I will walk naked to the police station up the street and I will ask the police officers for a bag of crack.

DP FADC Ultra is the ultimate hit confirm. You have so much time to react. What is there to get? You want an unblockable move that kills characters automatically? A win button? You want a ultra that make the opponent watch porn while you beat them up?

No. I’m not trolling. It is really that bad. Vanilla and Super was okay. AE is a shitty broken game.

Match up wise:
Sim, Guile, Blanka, Fei, Yun, Yang, T-hawk etc (this is what came to my mind) rape Ryu badly.
I’m using Fei, Cammy and Viper now. If you really want to use shoto, maybe Ken or Dan might be a wiser choice now.
Mobility is important cause in the past you could use air-tatsu to close in on opponent especially when he is grounded for rush down. You always threaten to close in on them even from far especially if they spam fireball.
Now Ryu almost can’t close in at all. With his short jump distance, he can be easily zone out by fireball charc. Thus, it is very hard to rush down on opponent now as you can’t get in enough even when grounded them. No, dashing in is not fast enough.
Cross up tatsu speed become slow now. You can’t get kick by that anymore. It take forever for ryu to get in behind to tatsu that I can actually see the tatsu and reaction dp the other way.
It is also easy to rush the hell outta ryu as he can’t air tatsu escape now. And fireball no longer works due to those buffs on anti-fireball moves.
You can’t rush cause you can’t get in. You can’t fb cause of buff on anti-fb move plus they can block and vertical jump from full screen. You can’t turtle cause you can’t run away. You can’t footsie cause only a fool would footsie you when thats all you got, and they can beat you with so many other ways.
Try it, and you’ll see that useless fb is all you got against quick charc that moves in and out fast. And certainly, you wont beat grapples for not being able to escape.
So, Ryu get rape by grapple charc, ryu get rape by fb zoning charc (guile, sim), ryu get rape by fast brawler charc (Chunli, Cammy, Fei, Yun, Yang, Viper).
Ryu is no longer a balance charc. He is a shit charc.

Street fighter is about shoto vs the rest of world. FB zoning, Anti-air, footsie are signiture of the game. This is not some King of fighters jumping frame trap shit or Mavel action hero air combo shit game.
