Ryu is my main and some how some way…I will find a way to adapt…I just wish his SRK Character Forum would too…everyone else’s looks so…happy!

Can we at least play theory fighter with the reported adjustments? Too bad I know too little about frame data to contribute.

Possibly, but probably more to do with the improvements Ken has received, only character from the vanilla cast to get notably buffed and his two nerfs are minor…

What is wrong with this place? new trailer mostly showing changes to ryu and its a ghost town around here. Did anyone even notice the changes to his c.mk from the vid? you can also see far mp being comboed into. Maybe they changed Ultra 2? did j.hk c.fp f.srk always take off so much?

well, nothing new in the video. at first I was like “what?” when i saw his HP DP hitting once, but it happenned due the distance. Damage seens the same to me. cr.MK seens identical to the SSF4 in the footage. To be honest, if i HAD to point out something different, id say it took longer to get active (for ryu´s sake i hope Im completly wrong about that, and i really think I am). And the s.mp new property isnt a breaking new for quite some time now.

Yeah i know nothing is new but still. First time we got to see some of the changes that we all new about in action and no one is commenting or mentioning anything about it.

On the other note. I don’t know why they decided to highlight the c.mk and then c.hk. It didnt connect but, it does support my thinking that the overall duration of the move is shortened otherwise what is the point of showing those two moves?

So If the new ryu will get nerfed as a far playing defense it wil make him more offensive thats fine I think with his jump arc being nerfed and getting his c hk cancelable and st.mp he can be even better than this version so its looking up sort of…
I heard that now he can trade into ultra in AE confirm or deny?

No confirmations but it is know that now his lp. srk will have grounded frames on hit thus allowing trade into ultra.
The full details on his changes are unknown but it hink there was word of all his srk’s being slightly modified.

c.mp, c.mp, s.mp XX tatsu would be nice if it works more reliably on everybody. Even better if it works on everybody standing after a solar plexus. But I’m really stretching with that one I think.

can you cancel s.mp with a cr.hk or is s.mp only special cancel?

You mean link a sweep after? Not unless they mess with the frame data a ton.

Or do you actually mean cancel? That would be one freaky, and fun, target combo. But there’s just no way.

it dont work on everybody, but it seens to works against almost everyone whose the c.mp, c.mp, c.mk doesnt, so its a nice thing. Sadly it wont work against Balrog, nothing works against him. They should to remake boxer´s passive hitboxes completly, its ridiculous the way they are now.

In time, i have to correct myself about the s.mp, i said its almost useless as a poking tool, and I was just wrong, it have plenty of oportunities to be used, its just not that good against other´s chars best pokes when both get active at the same time. But it have a lot of poking potential. I just think it dont fullfills any of Ryu´s deficiencies on SSF4, he already have tools as good as the s.mp at the s.mp’s best range.

c.mk? having on extra move at that range will help out. The way i see it is before you had to worry about blocking low from getting c.mk xx special. Now the other person has to think about a standing normal and a crouching normal as a poke. You can mix up the two to keep your opponent guessing.

No. He’s just saying that moves that beat c.mk may not beat s.mp, which is true. S.mp has a good hitbox that covers area that c.mk doesn’t.

Its not that good to be used the same way you use the c.mk, it loses to almost anything when you use it to hit the opponent´s body. It works to hit the pokes of the opp. And you have to be prety far from the opp, far enough to dont hit his body with the s.mp. That, plus the fact that you have to cancel the s.mp faster than have you do with the c.mk makes it even harder to use it as a pressing tool. If u miss the timming just a bit you can get a f.mp or a s.mp xx shoryuken.

I dont think its going to work the same way we use the c.mk, it will work solely to combos and to counterpoking a few moves from a few guys. But as i said b4, with the exception of Zangief i dont see nobody whose pokes will be beaten by Ryu´s s.mp at the range it is effective. Its not that it wont beat anything, its more like theres noone who fights Ryu from the s.mp “good” range that will get hit by it.

What meant is that adding one more way to link a spacial from that range other than sps and c.mk is a plus. mp isn’t no where near the level of c.mk but it still can work.

It looks like Ryu maybe be able to link after a S.hk and could possibly replace sps as a punisher. Bare with my newbness on this matter. A gain that ryu got with s.hk is more frame advantage on hit and block. If that is the case then it should be possible to link at least a jab after the 2 hits connect.

An advantage to using s.hk compared to sps are added damage (+10), and much more stun(+100).

Anyone disagree?

SP can be linked by tons of moves, and all we know about s.HK is that it will be cancelable somehow, and something have been talked about a tweak on its (not explicit if its going to be less frames in the move like the c.mk, if its a bigger block/hit stun). We dont even know if the canceling its going to happen in the first or the second hit yet. We dont know how much will be the SP damage’s nerf, we just dont know nothing about the SP/cl.HK yet. Lets wait and see.

People keep saying that cl.hk will be cancellable. It already is cancellable. Just only with super and FA on the first hit. Everything solid I’ve read about the AE changes suggests that you’ll be able to link something after the end now. Even one of the translators came to the ryu forum and pointed to it being a link.

If it really is a change in cancellability, can someone point me to a reliable source? I think this was just a translation error that took on a life of its own in rumorville.
