SSF4 AE: Revenge of the Orbs

Nice! What characters does this work on exactly? It’d be nice to have a list. Does this work in AE too? Or do the extra 3-frame recovery on SS mess everything up?

Ive always went for throws when i had 1 orb rotating around, it was easier for me than going for the grab with 2 orbs because he might have been put on block stun due to my lack of skill , but this setup i can definitely practice down for the guaranteed throw

Against someone who is unfamilar with rose, guaranteed damage + super? Iv’e never been this excited playing rose in awhile

i have a question jason87, what exactly is the timing? what im doing is doing the back throw, activate orbs, slide, mp soul throw one after the other and i was still able to block the normal way. i guess for everyone who has tried this out, is there a slight pause between any of the steps?

What character did you try this on? I think everything should be as tight as possible, in other words - no delay whatsoever between the moves. I didn’t experience any problems on Ryu, Chun on the other hand was a bit tricky. Anyway, I don’t think this is a nice setup against Chun since she has EX SBK. But if she has no meter it might be worth a try.

alright i got it to work :D, anywho i tried the the technique on Bison, Cammy, Rufus, and Balrog and this is what i found, i have a question for the reversals that knocks them out the air however, i didnt try it but could you soul throw them afterwards?

Balrog:
Headbutt- All versions whiff
EX upper- armor breaks and the setup wins
TAP: ?? didn’t try it

Bison:
EX PC: whiffs in the reverse direction
EX scissors: whiffs
EX stomp: knocks them out the air (soul throw afterwards? idk)
EX devils reverse: knocks them out the air
Teleport forwards: actually teleports them backwards because of cross up making the setup win
Teleport backwards: teleports them away safely

Cammy:
EX Spiral arrow: whiffs
spiral arrow: setup successful
Cannon spike: knocks them out the air
EX cannon spike: knocks them out the air

Rufus:
EX messiah: whiffs
Snake strike: LP and MP versions trade, HP knocks them out the air
EX snake strike: setup fails
U2 big bang typhoon: setup fails but knocks you down :slight_smile:

Timing is strict in two aspects. This is purely my conjecture, but i think it depends on how late you do your ultra and how fast you do the ST. If you delay the ST after the slide, obviously the orbs are gonna be at different positions no longer hitting the opponent on wakeup. If you delay the U2, obviously he’s gonna get up before you can cross up. I’ve gotten really weird results delaying the timing(not on purpose ofc) w/ the two orbs.

1st orb: NC| C| NC| C|
2nd orb: NC| C| C | NC|

first two results frequenting more than the latter two
All while still being safe and landing on the same side XD XD XD.

2ndly, in my original post, i made it clear that it works on certain cast members only.
Right now, i know that the BT setup will not work on FEI and BALROG(still iffy on whether it works or not) but i do know the Sweep–Dash----U2—MP ST works on those two. And by work i mean is safe EVEN IF THEY REVERSAL. The people these setups don’t work on are those that have HORIZONTAL REVERSALS(honda, bison, etc etc).

Well the good part is that Ono said that AE won’t hit consoles. So it’s kinda bittersweet.

About the sweep setup - thanks for sharing it. It’s nice to mixup with the SS and mess with peoples minds. Is it completely safe if they block and you land behind them?

But dunno… maybe capcom wann make sum moar money and make a new super version (no dlc) and a pc release and.

arcade edition, on the other hand, has some characters who were purposely made strong. the reason this was done is because ono feels that having such a character helps to build community and competitive spirit.

i hope they thought rose was to fame and got the nerfs for non hype and in the AE balanced patch she will get her old stuff back :B

^^saying “AE” won’t come to consoles isn’t the same as saying characters and buffs/nerfs won’t. Everyone knows it’s a given, I’m just curious if they will be rebalancing using the arcade template or the console Ver. Personally I think they should keep the buffs from arcade (excluding the 3 china men:/) omit the nerfs…and just work from there.

oh so we have 200+ participants playing on expensive cabinets at tournaments. are they THAT dumb? no way, but then again , capcoms been known to do stupid shit.

Is cLK into cMP still a 1Frame link? i saw a AE Stream and a rose player got every clk - cMP link.

I’m pretty sure it is still very well a 1f link in AE.

Of course, I’m sure the SF4 era doesn’t stop here. But it’s still not written in stone if we will get the AE version, where Rose is weak. They might wait for a while and then later on release a new rebalanced version for the consoles (Rose buffs?). Whatever they decide to do, I’ll still stick to Rose.

I’m sure a lot were happy after first seeing her buffs from Vanilla. It seems everyone was curious about how useful U2 would be. We know how that turned out lol. I played Super first, so I never knew of the changes until reading this article shortly after the game came out. How fast a year has nearly gone by…

The first time it was activated, we were like, wtf is this piece of useless shit lol.

I really like the picture of Rose activating U2. The angle makes it look very powerful(if they made rose look toward the camera it would have been a nice pic for devlopers fan art, since it shows rose in more intimedating way than usual.).

Lol at Fact that Developers even saying(lossely interpreted) turtling basically beats U2 and that it takes tact to get the most out of it. Yet it and the host charcter got nerfed.
