i played rose today didnt test ultra startup either. her meter gain is on blast now.
i did on weds. it is 1 frame faster but i still got blown up after they both disappeared.
I think all across the board, projectile meter gain has decreased. Daigo was right when he said that projectile characters were hurt a lot in this game, except Dee-Jay.
Only time Rose will really be gaining meter that great is fireball matches. It doesn’t really kill her game, but your meter managing will play a bigger role.
Greetings my Soul Sisters,
Today I tested out Rose in AE. CPU Ryu did SRK, and I activated U2 AFTER I saw it. He hit me out of it and my orbs were gone. Merry Christmas
Humbug! And seriously, if you’re looking to punish SRK, just go with U1.
I wanted to test out how “bad” this ultra 2 change was. I usually do use U1 for this matchup and most of the other ones.
How the hell does this ultra work then?
So…Ryu is in startup of an SRK, you input ultra before the dragon is active just by (bad?) luck, and you’re hit out of it with no orbs? This probably means that you have to be hit in the recovery/later frames of U2 for an orb to stay, or there has to be a trade with a non-projectile invulnerable move for one to stick around? What shoryu was it?
U2 is great for punishing dragons, especially if you have 50% and they’re near the corner.
I have a question. If someone meaties Rose on wakeup, and she activates U2, does it show up as a counterhit for them when she gets hit?
AE: Me (Rose) vs Emp Dieminion (Dee Jay)
I haven’t touched Rose in about 2 months but here you go

Observation time -
When Rose got hit by Guy, she was in the recovery frames of the Satellite and the slide wasn’t meaty. She kept her orbs but she got hit by the remaining active frames of the slide, but not on the startup of the slide so she gets to keep her satellites.
However, since if you use U2 on DP, the DP hits you before the Satellites are active and she loses them. That’s the same thing I saw with Dee Jay right there. He hit you before the Satellites actually came out.
So I’m guessing she gets to keep her orbs if she gets hit in recovery frames, but on start up and after recovery, she loses her orbs.
That’s good balance by Capcom right there though.
Seems more likely that Rose keeping the orbs against Guy was some sort of bug, I don’t think Capcom would implement three different behaviors based on a difference of a couple of frames in when you get hit (get hit during the first frames and lose the orbs, get hit a bit later and you keep them, get hit even later and you lose them again)
But wouldn’t it have done the same thing in super then?
we’ll see lol.
Just wondering if you guys agree on Dudley vs Rose being 6:4 in Dudleys favor now. was 5-5 in SSF4
It was 6-4 in Rose’s favor in Regular Super.
Dudley gained a few things and Rose lost one thing.
Haven’t played the match up in SSF4AE yet, but I’m gonna guess 5-5.
I wouldn’t say the metagame changed that much in the fight. No idea how the match really plays out high level since I haven’t even seen that fight at any tournament, but I’m going to agree and say 5-5. I don’t think we can judge matches so well off of what we’ve just seen on XBL replays or something, hard match data will now come in since we have AE in Japan.
Theory fighting leads to 6-4.
But Theory Fighting also ALWAYS leads to one character having the advantage.
so hah!
it was 6-4 in super. not sure what it is now but rose could bait a lot of dudleys attempts around fireballs
I think it would be more 5-5 in AE, not 6-4 in Dudley’s favor. Dudley has to get in, and Rose still has good poking tools to keep him out. It was 6-4 for Rose in Super since it wasn’t that hard for Rose to keep Dudley out, especially with her U2 stocked. Even though Dudley got a couple of buffs and Rose only got nerfs, she didn’t get any changes to her normals, making them still annoying for Dudley to deal with. With her U2 losing invincibility, it will be harder for her to get him off.
