Well I think firstly I should point out the difference between “using for over a year” and “paid for, over a year ago” and will restate; the money is insignificant to me, the principal is what I have taken issue with. Furthermore I think obvious/reported, easy to fix errors going unfixed for at least half a year is unacceptable enough as it is. When exactly the majority of issues beyond that got fixed just seems to be nit picking.
Any idea why the app icon looks so crappy (low res) on my iPhone 4? It looks fine in the store
cause there are no retina display images at all used in the app, and the iphone 4 is scaling everything 2x, which is why in general it looks kinda grainy on iphone 4. when i created it i only had an ipod touch, but now I have a 4 so I’ve been doing everything at retina display.
Hi Andrew, just to let you know that you’re doing a really good job here. I paid for both SSF4 and MvC3 apps for Android, and am happy to know that it’s now free for everyone, and without ads it’s a sweet bonus (though I find nothing wrong with just a few mini banners). Perhaps you can add a Paypal donate link to the SSF4 app, just like the MvC3 one.
More specific feedback (SSF4 one): I LOVE the ‘notes’ section for all characters. I use it to enter training room observations, combo damage, character-specific combos/tactics (i.e. Fei’s close mp -> hk CW -> hp -> etc), as free-form text which can be easily backed up and 100% restored each time I flash ROMS (via Titanium Backup). My only minor gripe is, the graphics on the SSF4 app are low res i.e. they don’t scale to stretch to fullscreen on my Nook Color (1024x600). But I can live with that, as what’s important is the data within, not cosmetics.
As long it’s diligently updated to a satisfactory level of accuracy i.e. per the SRK Wiki, that should keep everyone happy. While you don’t owe anyone the obligation of having it updated again when AE data’s available, I hope that for completions’ sake AND knowing that there are other people like me who appreciate your hard work and understand the shit you need to go through, you will be able to pull through once again.
keep up the good work dev. i was pissed when i bought it a long time ago and i couldnt get it again. now its up and i would have paid again if i had to cause its just .99 so thx again. evo 4g
Just wanted to let the creator know that the Blanka information for the frame data is incomplete. Missing data on all special moves. Regardless, thanks for the app, I bought it a long long time ago.
Did this get taken down again? Recently got a new phone and was going to download this and the Marvel app again. The Marvel and MK apps are still showing fine on the Android Market, but nothing is showing for the SSFIV guide…
Planning on adding the AE frame data? :pleased:
Paid for it when it was 0.99$. Even if it turned out to be free now, this is still a top notch app !
Same thing for the MVC3 app, and thinking about getting the MK one, too.
Just one question, and it’s been asked many times, I see : are you planning on adding the Arcade Edition characters stuff ? This would be quite awesome
the AE app is a totally new app that is selling for $.99, so it will not be an update to the current one at all. a lot of sweat and tears went into gathering the frame data from the enterbrain guide. it actually took much longer for me to get this one done than the previous one and i had started this AE project about a month ago.
i submitted it to the app store for iOS last night and will begin the port to Android either today or tomorrow and hopefully have it out by the weekend.
i have added in quite a bit of new stuff as well, including combos (for the 4 new characters as well), and links to videos and forums as well (the latter 2 obviously needing web connection for). there are updated graphics as well in hi res so it doesn’t look like grainy ass as my ssf4 one did on the higher res phones (sorry I only had a 3g ipod touch to test it on and that is lo res). all graphics are 100% user made as before because i don’t want to get into any issues with capcops again.
the frame data was taken from the japanese enterbrain guide, which i have my self and did not get from the wiki here. i had my frame data stuff finished like 90% the day the wiki here got updated. there are actually errors on the frame data in the wiki on this site (well errors as in typos that aren’t equivalent to the actual enterbrain guide, not errors in the actual frame data in the enterbrain guide) as well as with some of the special moves and ultra combos listed on the wiki on this site. you may see some discrepancies due to this, but i’m pretty confident that my info is more accurate to the enterbrain guide because i literally went line by line through the frame data charts and added the data into a format necessary in my app. i have done my best on my app to ensure that everything is accurate but as usual, pointing out errors will help me fix stuff quicker.
there is no frame or move data for oni or evil ryu yet because that data just is not available yet. i have a connection in japan and when the new enterbrain guide is released june 30th i am going to be getting the new guide and updating the frame and move data with the most up to date data.
once the android version is approved, i will probably make a new thread or update this one.
Great !
Will get the Android one when it is released.
Keep up the good work
Since I’m tired as shit and I just want to update this to let everyone know, my SSF4:AE guide is now available on Android and in review process on iOS store. Below are the links and descriptions.
Android - https://market.android.com/details?id=com.AndrewStanton.SSF4AEGuide
iOS - coming soon.
This is similar to my SSF4 App and includes the following for all 39 characters in SSF4:AE:
- Profile
- Unique Attacks
- Special MOves
- Super Combo
- Ultra
- Combos
- Move Data
- Frame Data
- Notes
- Videos
- Forum
The frame and move data is the most recent from the Enterbrain guide, so the errors in my app are also in the guide. I will be updating it as soon as the update comes out. With that, there is no frame data or move data for Evil Ryu and Oni currently, but again, will be added as soon as the new guide is released.
PLEASE RATE IT HIGH IF YOU ENJOY IT THANKS!
Well that’s it for now so enjoy.
Also if you find any errors please let me know either in this thread or via email so I can fix them.
Now that’s funny- your guide just helped me out tremendously! I just downloaded the AE guide for Droid and was looking at combo 2 for Rog and I thought you had it wrong- I always tried to LINK the headbutt (or any special) after the cr.lk instead of CANCELING into it, and my timing has been off. That explains why I could only land it 50% of the time. I was going to let you know about the mistake, but double checked in the Rog forum and I’ve been doing it wrong this whole time!
I like your easy-to-read format and now hopefully my BnB’s will come out a lot more. Wow, I feel dumb, but thanks a lot and keep up the good work!
One thing I did notice that might be an error is on Balrog’s Combo 6. On line 6 you have cr.lp and I think it should be a cr.lk to cancel into the headbutt. I could be wrong, but I’ve never seen crouching low punch into a headbutt. Of course, I am still trying to learn the game, but i thought it might be worth looking into.
You can do either or. I just kept it the way it is there just to show different variety. Those definitely aren’t the ONLY combo’s you can do by any means. The reason most people do cr.lk is because it has more range than cr.lp, it does 10 more damage too (with no scaling that is), and it can’t be blocked high so in the chance someone is standing and blocking, you can at least get some damage if it connects.
Balrog is my main so I’m pretty familiar w/most of his bnb combos, but it is odd because i ALWAYS do cr.lp to cr.lk UNLESS i’m doing a rush upper loop combo. not sure why that is, just more of a habit than anything.
I probably should add a combo to rog incorporating his st.mp though, since that is a totally new combo that couldn’t be performed in super.
glad it could help heh.
but honestly, I have a feeling that your issue was not you trying to link into the headbutt, but was rather cancelling into the cr.lk.
when i first started maining rog, i won’t even lie … it took me quite some time to really understand the difference between linking normals and cancelling normals. and i was pressing cr.lk before i left cr.lp recover fully, and (i believe) in the SF4 engine in general, you cannot cancel into a special move immediately after cancelling into a normal. so i was trying to do that by cancelling from cr.lp into cr.lk, and then cancelling from cr.lk into headbutt. and the headbutt just would not come out for the life of me, until i learned what i was doing wrong.
sf4 was the first fighting game i played in a long long time (close to 10 years probably) and i didn’t take it too seroiusly before that, so I wasn’t even aware of the differences at that time. but once i understand the difference between linking normals and cancelling them, it made perfect sense.
if you are doing cr.lp, cr.lp, cr.lp, cr.lk, headbutt with rog … you can mash out the first cr.lp moves as fast as you want … but once you hit that cr.lk, make sure you link into it or else yo uwill not be able to combo into headbutt.
Right on man, thanks for the advice. Time to go practice more after work!
and the iOS version is now live.
Do you happen to have an eta for the U.S store version? Thanks
