i have troubles vs adon
anyhelp?

Adon is a pain to okizeme, because of his faster than normal wakeup. This will be corrected in AE though.
He is quite easy to crossup bk/j.hk on wakeup because of the trajectory of his RJ. It is safe jumpable also, but the timing is difficult (see above).

Respect his jaguar kick pressure. If he uses it correctly (IA JK), it is a pressure starter even on block. Think of it as Cammy’s low cannon strikes, it gets a lot of +frames on block.
This means you have to play him at the right distance. If he ever whiffs it, react with c.hp. It’s doable once you get used to the matchup.
You can use s.hk to stuff it cleanly if he gets predictable with it.

Feint most of your seismos, expect the JK and punish accordingly.
He got a great s.hk, but it is still possible to hit some c.hp and c.mk (if you’re comfortable on meter, buffer sometimes ex seismo for the ch)

I like to neutral jump a lot in this matchup, it’s probably not that great against good competition, but it has been successful for me. nj hp if you can, nj hk otherwise, and make him suffer.

besides lose, what can you do against fei? feel like he can just CW himself out of every situation against viper. obviously meaty seismos are no good here. How do you handle pressuring fei long and in turn handling his pressure, especially when in the corner.

You are pretty much going to have to react to his rekkas with an ex seismo or a fierce tk. You have to wait for the perfect little slip up and be ready for it. Her normals are no good in this situation except sometimes you can get an elbow in there if you’re feeling random and then you can guess you’re way out post elbow. But realistically, fierce tk and ex seismo. Either way you’re gonna need meter. Watch how much worse yang’s is, his rekkas are safer

Against Fei, this could help:

Against Wings in general, yeah, EX Seismo if he’s doing it blatantly, or HP TK or Ultra if you’re good. Anything to lower your hitbox works as well. Against Rekkas, Light TKs can go under them. In general, try to space yourself outside of Rekka range and try to whiff punish misplaced ones. On block, they’re -4, if Viper had any decent normals, she could punish them harder lol. Her light attacks start up in 4, but in general, you won’t get a strong punish at all.

Ground-wise, all I know is his cr.hp is quite laggy on whiff, so if you can, try to whiff punish it with cr.hp or sweep. And that’s all I know about Fei, sorry. :frowning: I barely know anything about him.

one thing you can do as a sketchy crappy corner escape vs fei, is when he does a badly spaced rekka, tag him with far lk to punish and sj outta there. Its crappy but it can work

In the neutral game Jab TK’s beat the first hit of the rekka because she moves her hitbox back before moving forward. Footsie game is really important against Fei, imo. I actually find c.RH to be more useful in this match as Fei’s are always walking back and forth to get that rekka that they aren’t watching their feet. You can definitely whiff punish their c.Strong’s, and c.Fierce’s as well.

Also, several things to beat random chicken wings that are spaced from midscreen. Focus Attack and neutral jump RH. Neutral jump RH is pretty good at certain ranges because it will beat Rekka’s and stop Chicken Wings. Obviously, not a spam tactic but it is a valid tactic. Wake up Chicken Wings can be baited and beaten with a super jump back Fierce/RH.

Nice stuff guys. I swear, I’ll try to update this thread lol, sorry I keep saying I will, then I don’t.

I need some more advice on the Balrog/Blanka/Gouken matchups.

Especially Balrog, I don’t remember ever winning against a Balrog player with Viper.

blanka, dont jump stay calm, he cant open you up outside of throw unless you press buttons. Make sure u punish blanka ball propersly.

gouken, this match is weird, i’m not very good at it, but all u really need to do is get a knockdown and try to bait the parry, and punish it. watch spamming seismo cause his dash punch goes over it. His jump arc on demon flips is weird, sometimes AAs are weird, look to cross under them and AA him with st strong or something.

rog - tough match, stay grounded unless you can make a read with neutral jump on a rush punch, can also be focus’d for big dmg/making them respect you. you’ll be running most of the match, you can’t really press buttons, he’ll beat you for free. Only way you’re really going to get dmg is if you catch him with a low forward xx mp tk as he’s walking at you, or if you can mix him up well after a knockdown, his wake game is pretty poor, you can throw his rush punches and safejump his headbutts. Rog’s jump RH and FP have a long active time and is more difficult than average to AA, be sure to AA rog, if he starts jumping on ur head, the match can get ugly real fast.

For Gouken, one thing to always be ready with is neutral jump roundhouse. It hits him out of his demon flips and most of his jump ins. On untechable knock downs try as hard as you can to block and not anti air with a fierce tk. He can delay it slightly so it’s not meaty and it will stuff viper’s dp completely clean for counterhit damage into a full combo which will do a ton of damage and stun. A good trick is that when he doesn’t have meter and you’re scared of the parry of he is parry happy, you can do a tip range lp seismo and the parry will be activated, but it will whiff you and you can cancel to another seismo to flame kick. His ex demon flip has invincibility all the way up so if you see it and try to anti air him quickly you’ll go through him and he can punish you so if u see him turn yellow on his wake up and go up delay your anti air a little bit so the invincibility is gone.

uh yeah i played against a really good yun today and its the most ridiculous matchup

he has a million ways to tick into command grab and every command grab can potentially mean getting comboed (and meterless too!) into ultra

ridiculous normals and you have to be god to react to the speed of his dive kicks umm yeah im completely lost on what i can do against him

i cant find any good way to pressure him on wake up. DKs are way too good…

If you have to be a god to react to his dive kicks I would hate to see you fight a rufus… Just be patient vs yun. His command grab is very slow and he doesn’t have anything that is +10 on block to make it really tricky. His crouch strong might be like +2-3. That leaves you seven frames to get outta there. Yang is much harder to beat with viper IMO

i dont know man rufus never gave me this many problems

thanks for the tips… i think if you have shitty reactions youre gonna get exposed pretty bad in this match up (like me)

Yun: Use far hp, far mp, far mk, far hk, and overhead as anti-air and keep him away.
Don’t try to seismo him, ever. Only use feints, and only use EX seismo in combos or as a punish through his dash punches and shoulders. They’re not instant.
Worst comes to worst, trade hptk to get out of his pressure. His pressure is more retarded than your pressure.

His DP is safejumpable, just not very punishable. Better to hit him out of it, and go for a mixup after a knockdown with a air lkbk setup after a knockdown.
Learn anti-DP BK setups that work on Sagat. They all work on Yun.

Yang: You’re fucked. Good luck playing footsies, since he can punish your BK from full screen away.

You mean with his rolling ultra (II i think) damn no more building meter full screen. Its not like viper could really play footsies anyway unless you mean he just down right owns viper if she even attempts to play footsies which I think isn’t likely. Viper Vs twins doesn’t seem that bad to me from the vids I’v seen but I haven’t played AE much so I’ll say nothing more.

He doesn’t even need to do the rolling ultra. Just needs to do hk dp, and it’ll roll all the way across the screen, go through your flames, and kick you high up. lol. You really have to zone carefully, and make every hit you land count. Don’t let him build meter - unlike Yun, he can fadc out of his DPs. As long as you keep him under 2 bars, you shouldn’t have too much of a problem against him after you get a knockdown… but he builds meter so fast >_>

Damn sounds rough I’m certainly not looking forward to playing the horde of twins online but 90% will be scrubs so they shouldn’t be to hard.

Against the twins at medium range I have been using MP TK to try and keep them honest about jumping. Sure it trades but it is a favorable trade IMO because its better then them hitting safe buttons in your grill.

They are one of the matchups (especially Yun) where I don’t feel bad for mashing HP TK while they are pressuring you constantly. Sure you whiff sometimes and eat a hard punish, but it feels like one of those matchups where you get 1 or 2 chances at most. So if 1 of those 3 TK’s connect then you have your shot to mix them up to death.

I agree though that Yang is harder than Yun though for Viper
