SSF4 AE 2012 Guile Video Thread: Return to Respectability

In order for cr lp, st hp, st hp combo to work, you are relying on a counterhit right?* In your experience of using this, how often do you land it after a lp SB? do you always wait to see who’s FA happy?*

and cr lk further push back on block??? wow… i investigated this a long time ago comparing to cr lp and found they were the same distance, but in training room, i only checked “hit.” Didnt know it would change on block.

This only makes me wonder what else im missing out on that may be common knowledge to other players. :wtf:

C.lp, s.hp basically is just a frametrap with just enough charge to do a boom after s.hp. It can also push the opponent a considerable distance backwards. Think lp sb, c.lp, s.hp, lp sb, f.mk, s.hp. Thing is you can’t always attempt it after a lp boom. It’s also important to follow the boom at the correct distance and the c.lp becomes a pretty tight frametrap sometimes. Do normal pokes for conditioning and do nothing to see how they tend to react and decide yourself.

As for c.lk pushback, it could actually be the same distance but it always feels a little further than c.lp to me. Can’t really confirm here as I’m not really a training mode player.

Rexell, u have any idea how to do a s.hp follow by super, I saw a clip in this forum, the guy is in crouch ,stand, hit with a s.hp, follow by super.
The s.hp is not a upper cut, but a normal stand far hp

Hope Rexell doesn’t mind me stealing the answer here :stuck_out_tongue: There’s some small variations on how to do it but this is my method…

Starting from a down-back charge: Neutral position > Fierce > Forward > Down-back > Up-forward > Any kick

This applies both for the far and close st.fp as it’s the same motion just at a different range. You have to do this all fluidly and quickly in order to cancel the fierce into Super. If you’re at the range for far st.hp then I recommend using mk super to ensure you are in range for Ultra follow-up

Its super easy, lets say you’re on the left side of the screen. so just charge for super, and when you wanna do the s.hp just leave the stick in neutral or hold back. from here press fierce. now you will want to move :hcf: :uf: and then press a kick

0:44 was tragic… you had down charge at point blank! Just flash kick! crouching medium punch! sweep! anything! T___T

My quicky feedback. 2 glaring problems that really should’ve gotten you punished much harder if that Ken was actually competent:

  1. Random Flash Kicks - Many times during crouching staredowns where both of you are doing nothing, you will just suddenly EX Flash Kick for no reason. You landed a couple but only out of extreme luck. At 1:58 you were in a good position to just throw a sonic boom, poke or do nothing yet out of nowhere you do an incredibly high risk guess which did not pay off at all. You threw away the game and SHOULD have died on the spot for doing that. The same goes for 2:39, you had him in the corner and out of nowhere comes this EX-FK. Ken should have Ultra’ed you for the win right there but fortunately for you he is terrible. I think you are trying to twitch-react to anything he throws out and you really have to resist this urge, especially against players who will notice your habit and exploit it by baiting you constantly. When in doubt, Sonic Boom.

  2. Too many sweeps - Guile’s sweep crap. It is very punishable, especially if the first hit is blocked. Resist pressing this unless you are certain it will hit. At 2:40 you already cheated death since the Ken completely failed to punish your FK but then you risked your life again by sweeping which he could have punished had he not been mashing EX-Tatsu or whatever .

yeah, at 0:44 i tried to punish the dp with a grab i don’t know how his ultra came out so fast. i was upset about that.

i get really nervous at stare downs so i assume they’re going to jump in on me so i try to be psychic and fk instead of sb (that’s a bad habit i’m trying to get rid of)

i should be throwing more sbs out, but my consistency with the 2 second timing isn’t perfect sometimes the back fist comes out.

and yeah, i figured out cr.mk would be a better poke so i’m trying to incorporate it more.

also i have this weird problem where i can’t seem to do sb/ fk/ ultra on the right side of the screen. it feels weird to me that’s why i always try to get on the left side of the map.

anything i should work on?
