A few things: THIS. IS. OLD. This was a match I had when Super literally just came out. The quality is also huge ass (I’ve since upgraded to HD). Posting it just because I realized I forgot to delete it from my video archive.
EDIT: The win was total luck, the Dhalsim player there whoops me for free.
I tested on AE and it does 471 damage off a level 3 crumple To be honest, I dont even know where I got those numbers from, too many versions and patches.
well, the numbers I had posted are for Super when Guile was good damage and FK was not nerfed . the 471 damage I just posted comes from AE but I dont have 2012. thats why the 4 more dmg is misleading because we are trying to combine facts from 3 different versions. Super, AE, 2012 will also be different. Ill try to patch my version soon and post latest fact with built AE 2012.
I just watched Sanford’s match with Dieminion and was wondering where did he get his Guile matchup knowledge apart from Dieminion and Warahk. Lamerboi seems to be MIA from tourneys. It seems Sanford is pretty familiar with the matchup. Anyone knows where he got that Guile knowledge from?
Hope you guys can post up vids of other good Guile players. It’ll be refreshing to see different playstyles of the same character.
he’s played dieminion a shit load of times. then there might be another random guile at the arc too. but surely playing die’s guile a ton would give you all the match up knowledge you needed?
then there’s another factor you’ve got to consider…top players like sanford play lots of characters behind closed doors. they are playing competitively (and for money), so it’s in their interests to learn as many characters as possible. i’ve seen floe, daigo and mago (amongst others) all play a bit of guile on the side, so it’s pretty safe to assume that sanford has at some point too. hell this games been out so long that even i can play like 15 characters to a half decent level…not tournament level obviously…but you get the point.
Sanford and Dieminion were both part of EMP. They also happen to be good buddies or whatever and have sparred with each other quite often as Wikum has already pointed out.
liked the j.hk>s.hp> overhead.
round three, sagat was brain fucked, lol you could see that all he wanted was to forward jump on a concentrated guile. I would have finished it with a crumple udk combo tho. gj
I play on stick. Pad players are rare where I am and I’ve only encountered about 3 pad players in SF4 cos this small island I live in has around 10 arcades with SF4.
I seldom play Guile nowadays cos I’ve been messing around with Evil Ryu and my Guile is rather rusty. I’ve also picked up a bad habit of not playing seriously online when I’m winning or during the first round. At first it was to try to discover new stuff but then it kinda got stuck on me whenever I’m playing.
I’ve been trying out Guile’s bnb s.lp s.hp punish as a mixup in itself and it sometimes yield good results. Like not doing s.hp to bait an srk for something like a reset or doing it 1/2 frames later so that it can be used as a reset counterhit frametrap, and sometimes doing the full combo itself. I’ve even purposely walked into un-nerfed Yun’s divekick so that I can punish him for stepping on my head and also purposely walked into Rose’s slide as well with the same principle.
I recorded the vid just for the 3rd round cos I think that’s gotta be one of the fastest win I’ve ever got against Sagat. It’s hard to find good opponents who plays seriously in PC version and the Sagat player just picked up Sagat in 2012 and he didn’t really know the matchup. It’s also one of the matches played during the same time as the j.hk crossup vid.
