oh dude, you were so close. After that throw you should have done Ultra and chipped him out, maybe you were trying for that IDK but there’s nothing he could’ve done, at least I doubt so. If I’m not mistaken, even if he did his Ultra, you’d still recover fast enough to jump it and hit him on his recovery. GG though, gg.
I think those were well-played matches with Bison. He plays well for a Bison player in a sense that he knows how to play against Guile. I have a friend of mine who’s Bison plays similiar to him but much faster and knows how to empty jump Guile’s c.hp when playing against Guile. And they know how to utilise that j.hp of Bison and playing with these kind of Bisons make the matchup almost even.
I think there was only one consistent mistake you were making which is those whiffed lvl 2 FAs which he backdashed and punished. Other than that, Bison’s neutral jump can be punished with backfist from further away and df.hk with good distance and timing. But sometimes both will trade too(depending on opponent’s timing), in Guile’s favor I would say. I don’t know which match is first to last but my guess is I think those that he neutral jumped more often were earlier matches. I think he knew they could be punished and so he reduced his neutral jumps at the finals.
Airthrow and jb.hk/hp will beat his j.hp. Maybe the move has a slow startup but I have a vid which shows Guile grabbing him just when his hand turns purple. Jb.hk/hp is not so reliable sometimes, but worth a better shot than c.hp though. I think you were also trying to airthrow his crossup mk and got hit by it. I always get beaten by it too and I think it’s cos they press mk early. Sometimes I will manage to catch them though.
thanks! yeah andy is the best bison we have here in the states. he makes me very uncomfortable when we play. he has a unique kind of pressure, and is very patient. thank you for the tips. i have never tried to anti air j.hp with jb.hk/hp, that totally makes sense though, and i will try it next time i play him. i usually go for air throw. you’re also right about my focus whiffs, those often cost me matches against against andy.

WOW! I just got done watching NSB17. Machi’s Guile was on a rampage. He OCV’d the other team in the finals. Machi was on Daigo’s team(team madcatz). They took out Jwong’s team. You gotta see his match with Jwong, Marn, also vs. Uryo’s Viper. He made the Guile/Viper match look OK for Guile.

yeah man, that set up is gold …did you see UDK after j.hk jump attempts? thats rare and unexpected from time to time it will work. I also like how he pressures in corner with c.jab, s.lk, sonic boom at the farthest end of his strings.
