Here it is folks, the official thread for the Go Big or Go Home tournament! Here is a link to the official rules thread as well as the sign up thread. Make sure to read the rules before signing up and be sure to sign up with your gamertag or you will not be added to the list.

You are going to have to go big or go home to win this one, so everyone better bring their A game. As you can see, the tournament is scheduled for Saturday, February the 7th. Here are the rules:

Date: Saturday, February 7, 2009

**Time: ** 5 PM EST and will go until complete

Format: Single elimination, all matches will be best 2/3 round, 2/3 games, with semifinals being 3/5 rounds, 3/5 games, and finals being best 3/5 rounds, best 4/7 games. All players will be randomly seated.

Mode: All games will be played Remix mode, player matches between the two opponents. You will use the default setting for player matches. You are also allowed to switch characters between games.

Sign-up: You must sign up in the sign up thread on this board no later than February 6th, 2009 at 10 PM EST. You must post with your gamertag as well. If you fail to do so, you will not be added to the tournament.

Reporting: You will report to the forums no later than 4:45 PM EST the day of the tournament. There is a chatroom here and you will post in the chatroom when you are ready. Once you find out who your opponent is, you will play your matches, then report your results in the chat, where you will found out who your next opponent is. If you are eliminated, feel free to hang around in the chat to find out who wins, to chat, set up casuals, talk trash, whatever.

Prizes: Prize money will be distributed as follows:

First Place - 50.00USD
Second Place - 25.00 USD
Third Place - 10.00 USD

I will try to answer a few questions that commonly come up.

What about lag? Dropping? Etc?

Here is how lag will be handled. Once you have your opponent and you have exchanged Gamertags, one of the players will host a player match. Make sure you set it to only have two spots and one private. Once the match starts, you have the first round, AND ONLY THE FIRST ROUND, to determine lag. If you have lag, or feel you have lag, you will drop before the first round ends. If you do not do this, the match will count. If you do drop, the other player will host a player match. Same rules will apply. If you still find it unplayable, then you may drop and come back to board, and post in the chat about your problems and I will see about rearranging the bracket. You are only allowed to do this once, so if your second opponent still lags, you will just have to deal with it.

Dropping will not be tolerated. If a connection is lost after the first round has been completed, either the players work it out among themselves, or you may come back to board and post in the chat your grievance. I will be the sole authority on determining the consequences, if any, that will be assessed. Make sure you remember the details of the match, so an accurate assessment can be made. Also know that that Claw (Vega) has been known to cause de-synchs and disconnects. If you or your opponent are using Vega, and you get disconnected, you will start another match, and recreate, as closely as you can, the conditions before the disconnect. If either player has a problem with this, come to the board and post in the chat. as I said,I will be the sole authority on determing how disputes will be handled.

Any other problems that arise shall be brought to the board and will be dealt with then. If you have any questions about these rules, please post before the start of the tourney.

How will I know who I play? Will someone message me?

A bracket will be posted the day before the start of the tournament and will be continually updated throughout the tourney. If for some reason you can’t check it, i.e. you don’t use a router, then tell me in when you sign up and I will make sure you know who your next opponent is.

If you have any questions that haven’t been answered, please post them here prior to the start of the tournament.

I know it’s the same weekend as Sinsation here in the DC area, but hopefully we can still have a decent turnout. thanks and hope to see you all online!

Yea, I got back on Live not all that long ago. It definitely has been a while since we played, lol.

I just recently moved here, living in Silver Spring, working in DC. Desert was HOT, lol. Families doing well. Where you at in MD anyway?

I’ll add you, but you need to sign up for the site I posted before the day of the tourney, because we are using the chat there to run the thing.

We need to get some games in, lol. You going to Sinsation?

I’d join if there was a way to keep everyone honest. Don’t the successful online hdr tournaments usually have 3 people with one being a witness?

I’ve ran a few HDR tournies, and I haven’t had a problem with people not being honest. Worst case scenario, if there is a dispute, it will be handled accordingly. But honestly, I haven’t had that problem.

The Go Big or Go Home Tournament was a big success last night. We has 72 entrants in the tourney. Quite a big turnout for our first tournament. I’d like to thank everyone who participated. We had few hiccups last night, but overall it ran pretty smoothly.
