SSF2HD Remix: good games thread

Me personally, I suck ass at this and many other fighting games. It can be for a few different reasons, but I think the main one is that I don’t have a main character I use. I use M.Bison more than anyone else, but not enough to where I’ve gotten REALLY solid with him. So I just go around the character select screen pickin folks. I do that in friendlies because anyone else is gonna play to win…with that ONE character. Maybe 2. And I want to experience a lot of different matches where other characters are used so I can see these characters used properly and I can get closer to getting a main character for myself.

The only thing is, I win too much in friendlies so i’m not seeing characters used properly there. Maybe I was too harsh when I said I sucked ass. I’ll say i’m very decent. But most of yall would toss me up like frisbees.**

Do you in fact play any matches that go on your record or do you ONLY play friendlies?

I ask because I want to play good competition but I’m not sure if its always necessarily in the friendlies. Does the friendlies area see the real good competition or do I need to go to scoreboard for that?

There’s some good players in there. That’s another reason I stay out of the scoreboard. I don’t like wasting anybody’s time with my lame antics :lol:

Add me, PSN = TheGreench. I main Gief, and I’ve YET to be schooled by Chun in HD Remix :shake: I had so many tough fights against her in all the older SFII’s with Gief, but no one I’ve played does a good job. And I’m sure you can do that, lol.

I want the matchup already so I don’t fight some random in the future that stomps me because I never had the experience to learn how to counter her, lol.

As dumb as this sounds I am wondering something. I’ve been playing some ranked matches here and there and also trying to squeeze in some tourney’s.

My questions is this, I seen many people in the friendly match area playing games. Is the friendly area a place where you really don’t bring your A game and you kind of go to just practice and not take it too seriously OR are people playing in the friendly area just because its not worth it to really try on the ranked matches and get screwed by DC’s and lag and whatever have you?!!

I ask because I joined the friendly because there was a crap of people in there but I found myself really bringing it to win and other people just picking different characters and so forth. Thats when it hit me that I may be an asshole for picking my strong characters and playing to win as opposed to just trying to get better with some of my other characters who need work.

I feel kind of bad…

I play my mains in both friendly and ranked matches. I’m a noob to ST, so I’m still in the process of learning and I don’t really have many back up characters.

Honestly though I find that I get better competition out of friendly games than I do out of ranked matches. I’ve taken some of the worst beatings from friendly games, where in ranked quick matches I’ve maintained a positive w/l ratio. With that being said, most of my ranked matches are against people who seem to be new to ST. I really don’t give a shit about rank in this game. I mainly do the quick matches to fight a variety of opponents. Sometimes I simply don’t want a long session of friendly matches.

I told Luigi I hadn’t lost a match in four hours, then I remembered I hadn’t lost a match since Saturday … until I played Glacialedge. Not sure if I’ve seen his name around here, but definitely a beast with every character he picks. Awesome games to him – he had my Chun working overtime to keep him from beating me.

Thanks Nipul. I like to try to play all the characters at least somewhat. Get full enjoyment out of the game. Your Chun Li is very good and very frustrating, I appreciate your patience with her. I usually can’t help but want to rushdown with Chun but she really can turtle like mad. Definitely have to play with you some more.

Kyo45, I couldn’t join your rooms for some reason either. Not sure what sorta glitchiness was running amok.

Regarding where people play, if I am not playing with peeps from my friend list, then I usually do friendly quick matches. I like being able to play some person multiple times and not necessarily being forced to wait. 6 person rooms can be a little tedious imho. I don’t do many scoreboard matches since I am afflicted with the 0 rating bug no matter how many scoreboard games I play.
