SRKs Weekly SFV Tournament

oh I know I’m going to need some help, so anyone who wants to volunteer some time let me know.

I’d like to volunteer to help however I can as well…'bout time I start contributing to this community in some small manner…

I know this may be an uncommon occurrence but since there are ties in SFV what happens in the event of one?

Y’know, I think I’ll sit out and help you run the show instead. Might as well warm up before I help run some tourneys at my local anime con in 2 months.

Everyone who hit me up who want to help PM me, I still need to get the Discord groups down, and the google doc if we decide to go that route. Also Everyone please check the last two updates on the first post (Visualize and YouTube) let me know what you think and we can go from there. The only thing I am really unsure about if the legnth of the season, is 3 weeks too short? Should we increase it to 5? Let me know.

*Updated first post with ideas
*Added all player names to second post and and put under spoiler to save those on mobile

Are there any rules for characters? Do we have to stick with one throughout a tournament? Can we counter pick? Etc.

  1. No rules for characters, as long as there doesn’t suddenly be a all top 8 Balrog tourney, I see no need in proactively limiting players. If that happens then we can certainly put a gag on DLC characters for a couple of weeks or so. We will play that one by ear so to speak.

  2. Standard tourney rules so first match free pick, winner has to stay with same character.

With everything though, if the community feels it should be another way we can change it.

I’mma step up to the challenge.

I too would also prefer separate EU/NA divisions if we can muster up enough players on this side of the Atlantic. We’ll definitely need more EU players for that though. I think it’s just 8 so far, including me.

I don’t think separate EU/NA divisions is a bad idea (sorry Brazilians lol), but tbh I’d be a bit disappointed if the winner of each doesn’t play for some sort of monthly world championship.

perhaps you could make a seperate thread for the EU people? would b great.

Unless I’m mistaken, it might be possible to do that within the existing Discord room. I don’t know crap about Discord, but I just hopped in to the SFV room and saw that you can add new channels. So maybe we could have separate lobbies within the current Discord? Either way, I think a whole separate thread would be a bit much. Depends how many EU guys get involved, I suppose.

As a European, I’m against the separate league idea.
If the netcode and connections are good, why would we separate people into two leagues? It just creates an unnecessary divide among people.
Timezone issues are workable. Also, maintaining two leagues just sounds a lot more work compared to just one.
