yeah im going to NEC…you wanna get some games in sometime?
Online? I’m down for games whenever :]
Bleh, sorry to everyone, I got the shits and couldn’t participate… at least I helped kyarisan with his bet
Dang I feel robbed… anyway, next time I’ll participate no matter what!
Anyone up to some games rite now?
FYI, changed my gamertag to asiantom SRK if you want to change that on the front page. Even though I’m not that active online
Wish I joined the tourney, sounded like fun
And Isaiah’s Rose is legit!
XBL Gamertag: cruzanbwoy25
Location: Orlando, FL
Headset: Yes (but rarely use it)
Record Matches: No
Dedication: As serious as I can be
Characters: Chun Li (main) but I try to play with every one.
Strengths: being able to adjust
Weaknesses: I jump too much
Characters Good VS: Shotos, Cammy and Zangief
Characters Bad VS: Bison, Balrog, and less used characters
What I Need to Practice: Execution and Tech Throws.
I just copied and pasted this from like 3 weeks back, but I am in dire need of learning match ups. I can beat Ken and Ryu fairly easy but I dont play every one else enough. Now with SSF4 coming out, that’s atleast 8 more characters for me to learn and I haven’t even learnt the first set. I’m willing to play anyone with a good connection, and prefer not to play any shotos. So all, Gens, Vegas, Bisons (especially Bison), Rogs, and Rufus’, let’s go.
Trying to compose a friend list for each character. I usually dont get to play until like midnight East coast time.
PHATAL PHD has a good Bison. He is always looking for new partners to play and i’m not sure if hes too familiar with the Chun Li match either.
another chun player
Thanks, I’ll send him a PM
Chun’s are everywhere. Don’t be mad son. ;op

XBL Tournament 2 Results!
XBL Tournament 2 Recap!
Okay folks, here’s the long overdue recap on the XBL Tournament last Sunday (November 22nd, 2009)
First and foremost, the Training Team would like to thank all those who participated in the tournament. A great time was had and there were tons of rivalry matches going back and forth. We did have some slow periods within the brackets but were easily workable. Our apologies to all. So without further ado…
…The recap!
Right from the get go, the more dominant (or experienced players) raced out of the preliminary brackets by throwing aside their competition. With everyone in the tournament, it seemed quite a few competitors had their eyes peeled for our last tournament’s champion, BongPower and his unpredictably cutthroat Gen. Kyarisan, JeffHizzle (also known as RagingStormX) and KillaKelly came out full blast with no holds barred. Unfortunately, EyeloveSF4’s Guile was unfortunate enough to face JeffHizzle’s Gouken/Abel as it soon became apparent that Eye’s Guile had not much experience against Jeff’s Gouken. The complete domination by Jeff didn’t knock Eye out all the way.
It seemed Eyelove came back alive with renewed vigor as he began clinging to intense matches and barely winning his way to the quarterfinals of the Loser’s Brackets. Jeffhizzle who was still in the Winner’s brackets was completely caught off guard by Bongpower. Clinging by the rims of the Winner’s Brackets, Jeffhizzle was abysmally thrown into the Loser’s Brackets by BongPower. As fate turned out, EyeloveSF4 was ready to exact his revenge upon Jeffhizzle. Pulling a 5-4 seriously INTENSE clutch revenge matchup, Jeffhizzle wasn’t having any of it and eliminated Eyelove completely. Jeff’s triumphant win was short lived as he turned around only to see Kyarisan’s Akuma standing behind him cracking his knuckles and full of fire. Kyarisan (who was also thrown into the Loser’s Brackets by Jeffhizzle) exacted both his and Eyelove’s Revenge by completely eliminating JeffHizzle out of the tournament.
Meanwhile in the Winner’s bracket, our champion diligently tried upholding his title. He ended up facing the infamously well known and feared KillaKelly. Turned out KillaKelly’s matchup knowledge against Gen in general was higher than one can believe. BongPower was pretty much grabbed by the throat and sent careening towards Kyarisan in the Loser’s Brackets.
Kyarisan who tried diligently to take BongPower out ended up dropping to his knees instead. BongPower came back out of the Loser’s brackets (once again) and resetted his matches against KillaKelly.
KillaKelly then did the unthinkable. He switched to Abel and showed BongPower’s Gen who really rules the air. Destroying Gen’s air game (by either trade or solid hits), KillaKelly took the throne which BongPower feverishly tried to protect. Thus making the new champion of the XBL Team Training Tournament…
KillaKelly
RAAWRR!
Thanks again to everyone that joined and we can’t wait for the next XBL Tournament to start again. Will KillaKelly be able to protect the title that he snatched from BongPower? Will Kyarisan’s Akuma show no mercy? Will Eye ever make it out of the Loser’s Brackets and not just make it towards the end? And why is it that XBL’s Tournaments are like so exciting?
Why did i miss this sounded like yall had fun
Major props to NEMESYS & DARTHPAUL for making these XBL tournaments! Fun as hell, exciting, and it’s just forcing all of us SRK guys to step our game up.
Good job, and look forward to the next one.
Also, anyone interested in joining a more local tournament in the NY area (lag free, yay!), let me or Nemesys know. We’re trying to set up something for say 8 people max, and with a reasonable entry fee that will go towards the house & the winner’s reward.
Great job Killakelly, gratz on being Champion. I’m pretty sure the champions on these SRK tournaments will be short-lived as it seems every week someone new is getting very dominant. We’ll see next time. peace!
I play Gen and I live in Miami so I think our connection should be pretty decent. Add me up. I’m always up for some rounds.
Mad props to Nemesys and DarthPaul! That was my first online tournament ever. Didn’t think it would be handle so well. Hopefully I’m available for the next tourney!
Here is my super delayed tournament recap. I would first like to thank Nemesys and Darthpaul for putting it all together again. It was awesome and very much improved since the last one. The real time brackets were hot shit and for the most part the matches ran pretty quickly, except for the end there, but that?s already been addressed. There were some intense matches and a few of us were looking to redeem ourselves from the previous tourney. Anyway, on with my review of matches.
vs NinjaCW
Ninja, I cant remember too much, mainly cause you switched characters so many times. I mainly remember ryu. What I want to let you know is that you need to be more aggressive. When you scored a knockdown you didn?t really do anything with it, I was able to escape pretty easily and continue my pressure. This is not really Gouken?s game, its more zoning and keeping you out and away. When you score those knockdowns, dash in close to me as my wakeup game is quite weak. Try for a meaty now and then or grab, just don?t say away from me. You are making it far too easy and Ryu can do so much up close overall that it was just really hurting your game. Lastly, I think you should stick with Ryu, or if you are more comfortable with another character then go with that one. But, pick one and stay with it until you are VERY comfortable with that character. I have branched off into other characters and it has helped me out tremendously. But, I make sure I know what im doing and how to use the character I am currently with before I use others and I use the new ones only when I have put in the appropriate time and effort so they aren?t free wins for my opponent.
vs ABoffman
ABoff, BIG improvement since the last time we played. I see you settled down with Sagat. Not my most favorite choice character to see since so many people play him (and ryu) but if he suits you then awesome. As far as your game with him goes, it needs some tuning. You weren?t fully utilizing all of Sagat?s tools. His TK pressure on Gouken is hell and you didn?t do it even once. You did use TKs but not in Strings only for positioning and maybe when you sniffed out a focus. Work on your TK strings and that will really help your overall game. The style you were playing was to stay as far away from me as possible, TS, then dash back and repeat. Or, make a move forward, jump, TK, etc. then dash back. I think you were trying to bait a response from me, which at times I would try something, but you didn?t do anything with those. Personally, that was more beneficial for my that you were staying away from me cause I don?t like Sagat or anyone for that matter up close. I would think that strategy would work well against other characters, but Gouken can keep up pretty well with Sagat and his TS?s. What you had going for you playing that way was that it was VERY annoying and an opponent can lose his patients very quickly if he doesn?t keep his cool. For the most part I kept my cool and recognized what you were doing. But that one round where I lost, I got tired of all the retreating and got impatient and lost for it. After that I said to myself that I would lose my patients again which I didn?t, and I didn?t lose another match. So, overall I think you are making great progress, you should utilize more of Sagat?s tools: kara moves, tk strings, etc. ggs though. I look forward to seeing your progress.
***EDIT: I forgot to add in here that i was very impressed that you did ultra on me when i did c.mpxxfb. I have a bad habbit of overdoing that blockstring and being too predicitable. So, GS for catching me on that one. You tried it again with super, but i threw out a mp fb instead and knocked u out of it. but still, very nice. good eye on player tendencies, keep it up.
vs Soul10
Soul, this is gonna be very short. Any review I give to you could not be justified. We had a 1 bar connection. From the looks of it you are a fairly skilled ryu player, but it was only shown in spurts cuase of our lag. Im sure you would say the same about me, but we both missed so much stuff it all looked like shit. I?m sure that if we had a better connection our matches would have been much more interesting. So I say again, I won, but did I really win???
vs Sgt_Bowser
1st set
Bowser, this was the match I was looking forward to since the last tournament, and if Luken would have shown up, I would have been gunning for him too. I had though long and hard about how to deal with gen and found some answers through trial and error. Your gen is pretty good. Your cross-up and air game are very good. You don?t play gen the way most people play him, im referring to slap chop style. You are more air based from what I see, maybe its cause you are freely able to do so vs Gouken, idk, but it works. I feel our games we comprised of who can knock each other out of the air the most. I was able to keep you out a bit, but you were able to get back in often, GS on that. I noticed you had a tendency after a jump in to do s.lp, then s.lk (the one that pops you up) I remembered that from the last time we played. So I practiced for it. That lk has so much damn recovery I am able to c.fp that shit after you do it. Which I did a few times, I was unfortunate enough to miss my fadc?s after for more damage but the c.fpxxfb was working ok. You caught on to this, but it wasn?t until our later sets. Overall for this set, I was able to keep away from you and match you in the air a whole lot more which led to my victory. Also, the back throws to ultra helped as well.
2nd set
During this set, I felt you had REALLY figured out that gens air game can really shut gouken down if you do it right. Which I think you did by making some very good adjustments. For starters you started leading with j.fp (the 2 palms) a shitload of times. I had no real answer for this in the air. I tried just about everything and you kept beating me. Even sometimes when I tried to ground AA it you still tagged me. You also pretty much let up on the c.lk (that pops me up kick) so I wasn?t able to get anymore free damage. And, with that damn j.fp you would wiff me at times and then get like instant grab. I was like wtf at times cause of that. One of the big things for me was that I was pretty sure what you were going to do when you jumped in on me, but I had no real answer for it. Like when you would cross me over and do mk, then neutral jump and do another attack. You did it SOOOOO much. I thought I had an answer, but I found out reall fast that it didn?t work. Sure I could parry, but if you don?t attack, which u didn?t at times, I would eat grab or nasty combo, so I didn?t parry. In the end that jumping scheme worked really well for you. I wasn?t able to keep you out that well, and Im pretty sure you figured out that you could get away with a lot due to Goukens limited options up close. Lastly, you made some minor tweaks that helped you seal the deal. At the end there I was considering switching up characters, but I felt I still had a shot, however, you proved me wrong.
3rd set
After I had just lost, I felt my breathing room was gone and I needed to buckle down and score some wins. My attempts at dealing with your jump harassment had failed and I wasn?t sure what I was going to do. By this time, you had established aerial supremacy and me jumping when you landed was getting me nowhere but another loss. With that, our first match went the same as the later ones in the previous set, with you winning pretty convincingly. It was at that time I felt I had a choice to make. Stick with the character I felt you had a pretty good feel for or switch it up to a character that normally has a hard time with Gen and will still allow you to do all your harassment pressure with jumps. So, I took the gamble and changed to Abel. First match it appeared to have worked. I won pretty convincingly. I was able to knock you out of the air and just wreck shop. 2nd match came, it was close, but you won. I thought to myself, maybe it was a fluke that I won and that I should go back to Gouken, but I decided that it was work a gamble again to try one last time. Also, the main deciding factor was during that second match you changed nothing up from how you were fighting Gouken. So, I was pretty sure I could use that to my advantage and continue to knock you out of the air. Ultimately, that was all it took. Because of your play style, constant jumping and crossups, I was able to take the set with Abel. You have less life than Abel and less damage output in the air that I didn?t care that we were trading at times, cause I was still winning. Later in the set you let up on the predictable jumping, which was good, but that didn?t last for very long and you went back to what I guess was familiar. My overall suggestion to you is to not play so one dimensional. From the looks of things, its not like you cant do the slap chop stuff with Gen or anything else for that matter, you just choose not to. I?m not saying to change your game to that, but to incorporate his other stuff more into your game. Gen has good range with that s.mk that I feel it would be foolish to not utilize it more. One reason I didn?t mention as to why I switched to Abel was cause he has good air to air attacks and since that?s what I felt 90% of your game was, I thought it was worth a shot. I think that was my biggest problem when I was using Gouken. I kept trying to meet you in the air when you consistently showed me I shouldn?t be doing that. Very similar to how our Abel vs Gen matches went. In the end, I think you are a very solid player, you should get a better feel for your match-ups and incorporate more of Gens other stuff into your game. Not that the jumping shit isn?t working, cause it is and is damn good. But when I shut that down, it seemed like you didn?t know what else to do. Just some thoughts and suggestions. ggs over all and i cant wait to play you again.
Well that?s it, I talk too damn much. Thanks again paul and nem for having the tourney. I look forward to participating in the next one.
@ Killa Kelly - My main is pretty much Ryu/Viper but I couldn’t use her the way I wanted in our connection so I tried Ryu and then I was missing links so I was like uhhhh zone? And I already knew I couldn’t win that battle but I tried anyway.
Then when I couldn’t break ANY throws even the ones I knew was coming I practically gave up lol.
Was still fun games though as I play online for pure recreation now and I spend most of my time in training mode and just get experience when I make a tourney.
NINJACW!! I would put $$ on you winning man. Offline even more so ;]
He’s still good not taking nothing away just it was hella easy since he pretty much threw me everytime he tried except for once or twice lol
haha, i was serious though. Not sarcasm or disrespect. I like your viper, clutch! Never seen your rooo
