Yeah i usually don’t do that bad against the overheads…for some reason I was just getting raped by em last night. Balrog is one of my worst matchups, as it seems his pokes all beat out a lot of bison’s moves. So i need to find ways around that. THanks for the tips. I’d give you some, but I can’t really think of any and plus you won every match pretty much
Is it to late for u to add me
Hi DarthPaul, I know I’m late for the tourney but please count me as a backup in case a spot opens up.
I’m glad that you decided to come hit this forum up. There are some good players here that you need to play (Don’t feel like listing them). I suggest everybody here play Isiah if you have not already, because his Rose is amazing.
** WANT TO BE IN THE TOURNY BUT NOT REGISTERED?..
If you have not registered for the tournament already I suggest you come to the IRC room at about 5:30 EST on Sunday. There are bound to be no-shows, so we can hopefully fit you guys in as back-ups. I am not taking any further pre-reg at this point… and thinking about it… I hate to see people turned away anyway, so like… you’ll probs be fittd in on the day anywy,. but the only GUARANTEED spots are for those already registered. **
BTW… Im not gonna be available now till SUnday anway, so… if youre not sure about something at this point, just show on Sunday. What ya gonna lose? Lots of peeps to play, my charismatic self entertaining y’all… free punch ‘n’ pie… it’s a win/win situation.
Everyone please add me!
Every time I face a new opponent, I feel I get better just from learning the different styles, etc.
The only reason I wouldn’t accept your game invite, is if I’m already in a match against a friend, or someone else in here who has invited me.
Hope to play y’all soon.
Anyone online right on xbox? Lets get some games in.
dont let him join, he’ll take everyone out…seriously though, he is damn good and it would be a benifit to the tourney if he was able to join, but his gief is a freakin problem though.
I forgot if I am in this or not, hit me up with a message on here or the MIRC thing and let me know. I signed up for something…just tired and it escapes me.
You can’t join… You would automatically win. I have beaten you once out of the 30 something matches we played… Naw it would be good to have you part of the tourny.
whats the link to the IRC channel again?
First page Phatal. Hope to play you again man. Will be recording.
found it…thanks
Ok ignore that now if you haven’t saw it. . . .everyone dropped on me lol. I can play just gotta find the IRC

First Match ( Winner’s Bracket ): 0-5 ( jeffhizzle2 ) Winner
Fifth Match ( Loser’s Bracket ): 4-5 ( jeffhizzle2 ) Winner
Gouken
Man you got a pretty nice gouken haha, i thought you were going to tear my guile up with your Abel ( Guiles worst match up as people say ). Stuffed me about every time i tried to jump in. I didn’t know what to do against gouken, so i had to do some experimenting during our match up. It was pretty tough trying to get in. Your anti air was on point, im not so sure what guile could do to stuff that c.mp like ryu can. It seemed like you were trying to do some weird combo with gouken. you could of just owned me if you continued with gouken’s BnB but you were Back throwing me into the 1hit Jumping MP juggle but i wasn’t sure what you were trying to connect it to. i don’t have much feed back for gouken since i don’t know anything he could/to do against guile. Overall good games.

Second Match ( Loser’s Bracket ): 4-5 ( EyeLoveSF4 ) Winner
M. Bison
Omg such intense games, i had to work so hard for this match this time around.
Man you really had me guessing on your mix up games which was throwing me off like crazy but then you started to repeat it too much and i caught onto it but still you made me work for it. Games came down to whoever messed up or punished harder which is what i love about this match up. Your BnBs you’ve gotten it down pretty good man also those empty devil’s reverse grab fuckd me up so hard i had to adapt fast or else you would of taken an easy win.
What i felt you could work on is probably stop trying to poke in between my strings cause thats where you were taking some dmg from my c.mp counter hits and also you were dodging my sonic booms from doing devil’s reverse but you would fly right into my Focus Attack so i guess watch out for that or if you see me Focus Attack, do an Ex Devil’s Reverse to break that shit up. I know you probably know already but just pointing it out. You also did adapt to it after taking a couple hits from them by not coming in for the hit and just dodging the sonic boom and then sweep my missed FA which was nice so i had to come up with a new strat. You started to try to bait my FA that you forgot about how fast Guile’s EX Sonic boom was so i started to punish those Devil’s reverse and it cost you the game by throwing too much DR’s. Also i guess you could use more of bison’s normals to stuff guiles attempts of throwing sonic boom if you feel that you have the momentum especially when you had me cornered. Also you got to watch out for that Air grab guile has cause you took a lot of dmg from those throw itself. besides these basic feedback you got a decent bison overall.
Good Games!

Third Match ( Loser’s Bracket ): 2-5 ( EyeLoveSF4 ) Winner
Sagat
Decent Sagat, Could improve way more. Your a bit too predictable with those Tiger Shots and Tiger Uppercuts So i would say cut down on those cause you whiffed quite a lot of them Wake up Tiger Uppercuts. I don’t know maybe you panicd or lack of Guile Match up Experience? Also you seemed to not know what you were doing when i was in too close, you seemed to freeze and sit there and then time your tiger shots all wrong. So like calm down with sagat he doesn’t need to rush or do anything and just zone guile out. From what i’ve seen you should use his Punching Tiger Shots instead of Low Tiger shots cause the recovery on it lets me jump in safely and your Foward High kick wouldn’t be able to catch me as it would if you shot High Tiger shots instead ( I think since i don’t play sagat i wouldn’t know for sure, Just from experience ). I would also say hit the training room cause you missed like 3 tries on TU FADC Foward + HK xx Ultra. Your block string was on point but you kept trying to grab after a blocked EX Tiger Knee so i just jumped away. maybe if you adapted me jumping away every time i saw you ex tiger knee you would of been able to punish me even more but you didn’t seem to read that into your game play. Pay attention to my EX Bars if i have it you know im just waiting to catch your low tiger shots cause of the recovery and everything. Also Lay off the Focus attack if your opponents not falling for it. You kept trying to Focus attack bait and it barely did anything besides you losing life. If its lack of Guile Match up Experience, Feel free finding me in the IRC Chat room and seeing if im on, ill be glad to give you some games so you could get used to the match up but im not a great guile so you probably wouldn’t learn much.
Good games tho maybe next time you could hang around longer for some casuals.

Fourth Match ( Loser’s Bracket ): 4-5 ( EyeLoveSF4 ) Winner*
Balrog
Nice Balrog but i think you can improve alot more. Your balrog was more of a turtle than most balrogs i’ve versed but you seemed to have gotten his basic BnB down when you get in which you barely did lol. You could of punished me hard with those hit confirmed Over Head punch BNB to Ultra but it seemed like you don’t have that combo down so i would suggest you go train on that cause thats one of the I win combo that balrog has. also you were playing pretty predictable with balrog. Especially when you had EX bars up, at first i thought hmm he has ex bars hes going to do ex charges like crazy now but instead you saved them for ex headbutts which i thought was wierd but everyone has their own game play. i would suggest you mix it up more instead of saving it up for ex headbutt. after the score went 4-1 i decided to play for fun ( believe me if you want, if not thats fine ) because you were turtling from full screen i figured ill try finish you off with an ultra win lol. So after failing and letting you catch up 4-4 i couldnt just let you win like that so i decided to attack your weak spots and it wasn’t hard to find.
Your weak spots were that you only saved ex bars for headbutts most of the time. so during the last match all i had to do was let you use your bars up and then harass your wake up game. (exp: c.mk, foward + mp ) and you ate that 2 hit combo every time so thats where i would suggest you need to work on back dashing or FA Back dash besides relying on ex headbutt or wake up headbutt cause without that ex headbutt on wake up. you will get stuffed every time. Lose the habit from TAP to Headbutt, That also cost you a good chunk of health. Your dash punches ran right into 80% of my sonic booms . You seem to love that dash punch cause you would jump back and dash punch right after another, I mean Yes you caught me a couple times but like i said i was hoping to catch that dash punch with my Focus Attack and Ultra but doing focus attacking and no baiting cost me those games lol. Sorry if i played around against you but i wanted you to learn something from the match up even if i lost to ya at the end. I feel that if your going to up your balrog level you should play more into an offensive style but i don’t know how long you’ve been playing and you seem new here so if you hang around the forums or IRC chat and get some casuals with the XBL crew you could learn so much more cause i personally don’t have a clue of half the things balrog can do besides these basic tips.
Good games to you also and i hope to see you more in the chat room so we can have more rogs to train against
**GOOD GAMES TO EVERYONE ELSE!
Also THANKS TO DARTHPAUL AND NEMESYS for this tournament AGAIN. Even tho at first i didn’t want to play but it ended up with me actually wanting to level up in the tournament cause of the competition i was going up against and the match up experience i gained.
PS: Guile is a bitch!!:annoy:**
I lack experience in the match up, since I’m pretty new to Sagat. I swear I don’t usually play like that, that is throwing out so many wake up dp’s like I did. Still you outplayed me either way even though the match up is heavily tilted in Sagats favor, good job. I’ll look to play some casuals with you again very soon. I promise I’ll play better next time ggs.
The tournament was pretty sweet, played some new people that I haven’t played before, the competition was definitely better from the previous tourney, at least for me… good shit @ kelly and bowser for placing higher than me… bowser next time we meet in a damn bracket im gonna have to knock you out bro… fuck your gen’s cancerous BS and kelly, better watch your back.
- Kyari (Akuma) vs
PHATAL PHD (Bison): Was definitely a learning experience for me, thankfully I learned in time to take home the win… just remember that devil’s reverse is never truly safe, not to slide against somebody who is charging focus, and don’t use wakeup ultra as a response to pressure because… well, I was safejumping it, since Bison’s reversals are all safejumpable, and it just results in you getting knocked down again and receiving more damage. Best reversal to use is EX PC, his headstomp is punishable, and his devil’s reverse can be focus attacked. Bison’s really at a disadvantage on wakeup. Anyway GG’s.
hamburglar123 (Ken): As a player who has recently picked up Ken for more casual matches, I liked some of what I saw from you, however I want to know why you basically stopped using the kara tick throw, because when you used it it always worked… I never really disrespected it, but anyway. Ken’s got some problems against Akuma and I made sure to keep that pressure on because of that. I didn’t see any tatsu combos though, like crLP stLP crMK xx EX or HK tatsu, those are more damaging than just crLP x2 xx FP SRK, and they can get me closer to the corner. Since Akuma has teleport you should follow up the tatsu combo with a reaction to a teleport but otherwise stay on the defensive. Overall, even if you think your uppercut is going to work against the dive kick, it’s rarely a wise decision; the poor guy’s DP is simply gimped.
jeffhizzle254 (Gouken): Your Gouken is no joke man, holy shit. Have to say I was not prepared for some of the stuff you were doing, I don’t think you should go for resets against Akuma because of the tele and I think I got away a couple times because of that, but you still got me with a lot of anti air FB’s into sweep… like really? You can do that shit? Lol. It was definitely a wakeup call to let me know not to sleep on Gouken’s fireball game and not to get cocky and wind up taking a hit, cause hits gave me massive damage… massive. But what can I say though. In the end I progressed past you and beat you in losers bracket because of your character… not you.
Sgt Bowser (Gen): GODDAMN YOU!!! lol. I’ll take that ass out one day in tourney, I have no excuses for what happened in our matches. I feel that I didn’t mix it up enough and I fell for the same shit that I was falling for 40 matches ago. We will meet again.
Thanks to nemesys and darthpaul for running this event.
First off, thanks to the nemesys/ DarthPaul and the rest of the guys for hosting and running a pretty smooth tourney. It was my second one and it was just as fun, if not moreso, than the first. One negative thing though was the length. When KillaKelly and I played our first set (The one where he went to finals and I went to losers) after that match I had to wait nearly an hour if not more, since I had to wait for two different sets to actually START. I put on some Netflix to pass the time… kind of cooled down the jets though…
-Kyarisan (Akuma)- What can I say, we usually have much closer fights than this. One thing I was meaning to try on you was waterfall kick. And it turns out if your demon flips are high enough, you’ll get caught. I noticed you played a lot more conservative after I hit you a couple of times what that. You still got me with some nasty combos though and your execution seemed to be on point for the most part. I just got the better of you this time around. GGs
-killakelly(Gouken/Abel)- Good games man. I think I got a better handle on Gouken this time around, but then you switched to yet another iffy match up for me.
Unlike the previous Abel player I had to fight in the tourney (jeffhizzle) you really put abel’s normals to good use in the air. This is what I mean by iffy match up. I still don’t know what Abel’s normals are capable of (turns out, quite a bit, since there are few characters that can keep Gen out of the air like that without a shoryuken).
I knew the moment you picked him it would be a hard fight. Especially since I was already sleepy and cold from the long wait… but I think the wait also affected you as Gouken. We were both playing really basic that last set.I really wish I knew more than one character, but like I told Nem, that is what makes you the better player. Good game.
To the other guys, I have horrible short term memory. So here are a few things I DO remember.
-Hamburglar (Ken)- You need better throw defense. You don’t have to tech throws 100% of the time, but try to see throw patterns develop. You can probably punish with neutral jumps.
-Juicy Mackin (forgot character)- Don’t give up!
Any of you going to NEC?
If so, I’ll see you there.
Yeah, I’m goin’ to NEC. Since I live in Philly, I had no choice not to go lol.
