SRK Training Team (XBL)

Very good games to Tonedef5959

well played man

you wanna play shin golly, and you should probably put advice on what he can work on so he can get better, thats what this is about son

edit: advice for whoever you play

Vaccant1(Boxer) vs. Ultimate Erod(Ryu/Blanka)

Overall, you did really well at blocking my Overheads whether inside or outside of block strings I think I pegged you maybe twice with them and that’s impressive considering how many I throw out. However, it became quickly apparent to me that you weren’t blocking them on reaction rather you were just blocking high all the time. After our first match I started throwing a lot more sweeps and low rushes and I knocked you down with 80% of them sometimes 3 or 4 times in a row.

With Ryu, aside from the above, the most blatant problem you had was your anti airs. Balrog flew like an eagle all day and was completely unharassed. I have a bad ground game so this made life real easy for me. Try and shoryuken me on reaction especially when you have an ultra stocked, also cr. hp is good and FAs used sparingly are great.

With Blanka I know its hard to take advice from me since my win ratio against Blanka is damn near 0%, but I can see you were doing a lot of things wrong despite beating me 4 times in a row. First of all, Blanka’s balls are unsafe against Balrog, you can use them in reaction to my dash punches but please don’t throw them out otherwise, they’ll just get you punched. Secondly, mix up your approach a bit once you start getting in close. I have this unexplainable inability to punish Blanka’s jump ins, so it may not have seemed like what you were doing was terribly unsafe, but against a better player you would’ve been getting knocked out of the air every time. Do more crossups and ground hops to keep from being predictable and to mess with Rogs charges.

I barely pulled out this set but, to be blunt, the only reason it was close was because of my inexperience against Blanka. Both of your characters were sloppy and predictable, I don’t even remember a single BnB coming from either. If you’re seriously training to play in Evo you need to get your ass off of CoD4 and get some real SF4 practice in.

Spend some time in practice mode working on your combos. Once you got your BnB’s down challenge me again and we’ll practice until your fingers are numb.

The SF4 YouTube Experiment

Hi guys

Saw this thread and love it. I think feedback is so important.

I’m conducting a little experiment of my own on YouTube.

I was hoping you could visit my channel subscribe and comment on my videos. Give constructive feedback and tips.

I don’t think I’m good enough yet to play you guys but we all have to start somewhere right? And if any of you want to train with me let me know.

Here’s my channel. Please check it out:

Cheers
Mark :wgrin:

All you need to play with us is dedication. I think everyone here will agree that there is far more to learn from a loss than from a win. I’m one of the worst players here, I lose almost every damn game I play against my team mates, but I’ll take an FT5 with them over a 100 Champ Mode rounds anyday.

Edit: watched your vids.

1st one.

[]jab>jab>jab>jab is not a good combo no matter how much I’d like it to be.
[
]Wake up shoryukens are bad unless they’re on reaction to another move and your damn sure its going to hit or you at least have 2 super bar to FADC with.
[]I don’t like overhead punch on waking opponents, I’m pretty sure most if not all of the cast can easily punish it, and it’s easy to see coming from a mile away especially if you do it more than once.
[
]Soooo many random Tatsus.

[]Getting Gief far away from you is the only thing that matters.
[
]Use your fireballs, watch how he approaches, if you have good reactions you can endlessly punish him as he tries to close.
[]Neutral jumping is a good way to harass his wakeups I think, but I wouldn’t use it much beyond that. It does nothing to get him further away from you.
[
]When he does get in close keep your block strings tight, if you throw a sweep out and he’s not in block stun he will grab your foot and do horrible things to you.
[]When you score a knockdown get the fuck away unless your damn confident in your rushdown.
[
]This match is a nightmare for Gief, it’s all about zoning.

[]Dash under or FADC through his jumping fireballs.
[
]Ex. Shoryuken is not the answer to everything.
[]You weren’t lucky, Akuma’s ultra will not hit you unless you doing something that has you rooted to the ground. If your in a neutral state all you have to do is jump and your home-free.
[
]I’m pretty sure that super had no chance in hell of landing.
[]Learn how you’re ultra and super limits the movement of your opponent, it’s important.
[
]Be mindful of how your opponents ultra and super limits your movement, it’s even more important.
[]You don’t HAVE TO use your ultra and super. Don’t think that way.
[
]jab>jab>jab>jab is not a good combo no matter how much I’d like it to be.

This is mostly very general advice and I could’ve given lots more but this is plenty for you to think about and try to incorporate into future matches. If you really are dedicated to improving you should definitely get your ass on our IRC and get some matches with us, we need more XBox players. I live a long ways away so I doubt our connection would be great otherwise I’d personally slap you around the ring with my Rog.

I’m gonna add you bro

Nice one. Thanks for taking the time out to review my videos and giving me some advice. My execution is bad the jab jab jab combos are supposed to be c.lp c.lp c.mk hadoken, but I get a little too excited sometimes because often my combos get interrupted by DPs or whatever (not sure if that’s an online thing). Lots to think about. Just recording my own matches and watching them back is helping. I think I need to also work on more punishing combos. I just played a rog match which I lost which I’ll upload. I probably will join this club soon.
Cheers
DM

finally got live who wants to play

It’s not an online thing. I mean, there are people who mash, so random SRK’s will come out. But if you’re doing a block string and it’s clearly lose, people will input reversal SRK’s.

If your combos are actually combos you won’t get SRK’d so just go into training mode and practice that kinda stuff :]

vs AssassinsCreed

You’ve definitely improved. You’re mix ups were REALLY good. You caught me off guard pretty much every time. Keep it up.

Ryu
One of the things you can work on is spacing. I had you in the corner plenty of times and thats when Ryu works wonders. Use hadoukens more, but not too often.
Another thing that’s pretty obvious that you need to work on is execution. You’re combos were great, but you messed up often. There were even a few times where you had me but you missed your ultra. You just need a little practice with this, you’ll get it in no time.

Something minor, i noticed that you always ended your strings tick throws which is perfectly ok. But you got predictable towards the end. Don’t scared to end the string with c.mk -> hadouken, or even DP -> ultra, when you think you’re getting predictable.

DaMoney,
Sorry I had to go real quick. I have a lot of video editing and youtube uploading to do :-/

So here’s a quick rundown of what I saw.
Against my Cammy:

  1. Learned the tkstrike/throw game pretty quick. To play Cammy, you need to know how to play that.
  2. Started to DP when I usually jump. Worked well at first, but I figured it out after 1 or 2 reversals and it became your weakness.
  3. Too many Hadoukens. I started using ultra and super against your fireballs. (check my avatar lol)
  4. Lots of Crossups. I know they’re cool and all, but they were easy to read. I remember dashing out of most of your crossups. I got hit by a few though.

vs Solerion

Your viper was really good, a offensive beast like any good viper should be, i can’t say much since you were dominating, but i guess what i can say is after a thunder knuckle you most often dash back, i got you for it once with a hurricane kick, but then you changed it a bit. Another thing is you grab after a over-head elbow, i noticed alot of vipers do this and i amot very good at teching so you got me most of the time. And i dont think saw you do your ultra at all, i seen moments where you could of done it but never did. Overall it was good, i wanna face you more often since i need to improve my match up with viper.GGS.

vs. Arbie21

Ryu
It seems like your Ryu has improved a lot. Your execution still needs improvement, as I don’t remember you connecting any ultras after FADC. You’re also still throwing out a lot of punishable dps.

Balrog
Your Balrog was surprisingly good. I guess you didn’t use him as much as Ryu because you were less comfortable with him? Anyway, you just need to work on your pressure. Your tick throws were pretty good. Maybe you were just unfamiliar with the Sakura matchup?

And, again, sorry I had to leave like that w/o any notice.

On a somewhat related note, I’m working on a site devoted exclusively to SF4 training. If no one is interested, I understand. Here’s the link: http://www.demonicabyss.com

I am getting off work early today, and I has hoping to get a few games in around 3pm Est time. We have a local tournament coming up this Monday, and I need to get some practice in. I would like to play against the matchups I am having problems with it. Anyone interested can add me as a friend, or you can PM me. Thanks.

I got the whole day off, so drop me an FR when you get in this afternoon. Since you’re on the EC, we should have a good connection.

Wow! I mean…woooow! This is good shit!

Cool Site, I signed up.
