Good Ryu. I must say from experience against other Ryu players that your not aggressive enough. You stay in the back alot and that’s not good against Akuma since in a zoning battle Ryu will always lose to good zoning Akuma player. You combo’s were on point when you were able to execute them on me. I also see that on a wake up you get thrown alot which I did to you alot of times so try to work on that maybe when you wake up just jump straight up and do a mk then fallow up with a combo. Also use your hadoken cause that’s what is there for. We had some really good games and close ones at that and I’m looking forward to see you again soon.
What I did wrong in our fight.
Well I saw that I kept doing the same thing over and over again but that’s only because what I was doing against MartinRob was working so there was no need to change but I could of mix up some more. Now this is why I hate the SE SFIV stick cause my HP button gave out on me badly especially when you jump on top of me and over me I usually just hit c.HP and knock you off the air just like I did towards the end of our matches but earlier you always crossed over on me which I must say you have a really good cross over game. I missed some links due to my HP cause alot of my links I use the HP especially on a FADC>HP Sanku. I sometime do the teleport knowing your waiting on that and I always get caught so I have to be more strategic when i do that.
I can’t remember how many games but I think it was 3-2 to Phatal
I was mainly using Ryu, Ken and Balrog
very close and good fights, He has a great zoning which I picked up on and for some reason I haven’t played as agressivly as I did in those matches. I believe those matches showed me my execution always needs work, and I need to learn a bit more about the Bison (dictator players if your out there lend a brother a hand :D)match up. That last ex shoryuken and ex headstom was funny. Your Bison was very good, safe block sstrings put me under pressure alot and I think I done a Ken shoryuken in desperation and it hit .I need to wwork more on my zoning. Anyways great playing with you man looking forward to more games.
very ggs sorry i had to leave. i believe it was 3-1 me. Your akuma was good but you became a litle predictable with wake up srk. mix it up a little more to keep myself and other players guessing i know its a bad habit tho. Also you had your combos downpact which was good, But you didnt zone me to much i know cammy can get in quickly, but just stuff to look out for. hope to play again soon
Guile(5-2 for me) - Your Guile was pretty solid. You whiff punished with a heavy hitting combo, every time I didn’t hit you with a move, your zonning was relatively good, you avoided chip damage every time you could by using your neutral jump and ducking the low TS and high TS respectively, I also saw some tick-throws… your deffense zoning was good, I couldn’t jump in on you, which obviously made me choose getting closer to you by ground. However, I must say your offensive zonning wasn’t to good, to many jump ins that I could easily punish with TU’s giving me the possibility to juggle and use my Ultra more then once by simply having you jumping in on me. I think you didn’t know the matchup to well ether, giving me a big advantage(maybe you should take a look at the matchup lists, to see how you can reversal me and/or get out of the frame traps I used, you had difficulty in getting out of my blockstring). I saw that you applied on me walkup throws, which worked at the beginning, but after a while it got predictable making it easy for me to jab you out of it and start a combo or blockstring on you. Finally, I must say that you did to many wake up Ultras, which also worked in the beginning, but after a while it became a pattern and I could simple avoid it and punish with a combo, giving me the match, possibly you could use more your focus attack to land your Ultra.
Dan (2-0 I think)- A pretty nice Dan taking in consideration I was using a S tier and Dan has a F tier. Same as with Guile, good whiff punishes; made good use of the Kuchu Dankukyaku(air hop kick) baiting me into the air; as with Guile, you did to many unnessesary jump ins(not that you were a pattern jumping player) that I could punish. You may have over used your shoryuken, giving me opportunities to punish you, that could have been avoided. Majority of the time yo made good use of your Ultra, but you also did some random Ultras.
Gouki(Akuma, 2-0 for me I think) - Took good advantage of Goukis runaway capabilities, good Zankuu Hadouken(air FB) zonning. The negative part was the use of random Ultras, and maybe you should play a more defensive game(zonning more with Akumas FBs)than offensive knowing that Goukis stamina is only 850.
2-1 for me
Shin Kimosabi has one of the best Gouki’s I ever played against. His combos are above a 80% accurasy rate. His long combos with FADC to Shakunetsu Hadoken where on point this time. His zonning with the different types of FBs Gouki can use is very good making it a very difficult for Sagat to win the FB war. Kimosabis mixups are very good. Very good use of the Shun Goku Satsu(Ultra) getting me on my landing frames after jumping forwards over his Shakunetsu Hadoken, and never does it randomly. There is very little I have to say about what he could improve in, if he loses it’s basically because of mind games and mixups, maybe you shouldn’t do alot of wakeup shoryukens, and keep practising your links so that I can’t do a reversal TU.
It’s always a pleasure to play against him, regardless of winning or losing.
I must say you are probably the best calm Sagat player I have faced and your execution is always on point. Your decision on when to strike & defend is unmatch and your fireball attack is really good. Your calmness under extreme pressure is amusing because you didn’t buckle but just waited for your chance to strike and caught me good. I will say you should rush down some more for Sagat has one of the best rushed down games in SFIV. Also when you do a step hk you should fallow up with an ultra.
Playing matches with you is always fun and a learning experience and we should keep doing just that.
yeah man ggs, i wasn’t keeping score though, was only playing casually a bit. We can get another set in sometime and Ill keep track. From what I remember though you did a good job, but like you said the execution wasn’t always there. And other times there was oppurtunities to punish me that you didn’t capitalize on. Lots of times you’d hit me with a L.SRK, but than not follow up with the EX fireball even though you couldv’e. So just little things like that, getting maximum damage when you can. But you also did a good job at spacing me out at times, and using the fireball to zone. Just watch out for the mixups bison has with his DR and HS. With some more practice you’ll get the hang of the matchup.
we’ve played quite a bit, but can’t remember how they all went.
I know that you’re Akuma is on point though, and makes for a really good challenge to my Bison. You do a great job of using the Air Fireball to punish me for DR’s. Although its not to the point where im totally afraid to use them, i just have to pick better times. You seem to be on point with your combos too, don’t remember you missing many. I think you’d benefit from using more demon-flip mixups, and i dont remember you doing a lot. You see how i mixup the DR’s, HS’s and emptty throws with bison, so that same tactic could be used with demon flips, especially when im not expecting them. But all in all you’re a really good player and Im sure you’ll only get better. You seem to know the bison matchup well.
Yeah we did alot of games and to my recollection were even and if my memory is correct the match up is 6-6 even.
As far as my demon flip yeah I decided not to use that much against bison but I guess I chose wrong…lol. Your DR’s are on point and I am amused of how good of a accuracy is with the DR’s. And I missed 2 to 3 times on my shoryu FADC into the sanku but it’s because my HP is giving out on me badly(shitty SE) but I’m buying the TE by the end of this month. Your BnB are on point as a bison player and I know your gonna get a whole lot better especially since you do tourneys in your area and that’s a big plus. As far as the bison match up…I do have some knowledge but I do need some more time and practice against Bison so hit me up brother!!!

What I Need to Practice: Matchups more then anything. Looking for strong opponents in my weak matchups.
I can’t say how many games we played, we played alot, I can say that I won the majority of the matches.
M.Bison(Boxer) - IMO, Boxers was your best pic, quite solid ground and air game, making good use of the priority that Boxers moves have. Some good combos, juggling into the Ultra with the famous headbutt more then once. Your strong point against me were your tick-throws which I wouldn’t expect. Maybe you shouldn’t be so eager to get in on me, play more relaxed and slowly move in with jumps, FADC, and TAP’s depending of the situation your facing. To many jump in attempts when I can easily punish with a TU which can lead into massive damage because of all the options Sagat has. I would advise you to never do a jump in unless you have a clear oppotunity(like hitting me on my recovery frames), I think your jump ins were basically your downfalll.
Ryu - Very nice tick-throws, good whiff-punishes, cross ups where crazy, did alot of damage to me with it, although it became predictable after a while. I think you should always sit on 2 Super bars so you can EX cancel into your infamous Ultra juggle. Moreover, you did however juggle from LP Shoryukens, which did good damage. Same as with the other characters, you do to many jump in attemps, leaving you wide open for me to punish with a hard hitting combo, this was once again what cost you the matches, IMO.
Rufus - I saw that you knew quite well some combos, and made good use of the dive kick, but I think you didn’t know to well the matchup because it became quite clear after a while you didn’t know how to get in on me, it was pretty easy to zone you out with TS/TK which lead to unnecessary mistakes. You should work on your matchups and learn to play a more relax game, being patient, and knowing when to take advantage of the mistakes of your foe.
gg’s that is my alt GT just incase you didn’t know. Im DaMoney21. Also i kinda dropped rufus when i picked up Rog. But anyway, your sagat is really good. Your zoning and reaction time was really good and spot on. You kept your cool when being rushed, and didn’t mash TU at all. I think it was you who i faced that tried to TU - FADC - Heavy Kick - Ultra and whiffed(not sure if thats the combo or if that was you doing that, if its not my bad). So practice on that. Also there were times where you were a little TU happy, so dumb that down a little. Other than that gg’s and hope we play again
LOL I didn’t know it was you! Good to know, I’ll add the GT. Yes, it was me that whiffed the ultra juggle, cause you were using Rog and I forgot his floaty fall.
I think we were even by the end, but i lost track.
Balrog was definitely your best character, and you seemed to be getting better with him as our set went on. At first you were a little cold with him, but by the end it was a challenge to beat him. So good adaption, and i dont know if any of the tips i mentioned helped out. Like using his jab more, and you should definitly get more aggressive with him. But that will improve once you get teh hang of “Always be charging” like you said. Once you get that down that you’ll be able to keep up the pressure with a constant barrage of different dash punches.
Your Ryu was also pretty good, but you didn’t do a lot of the things I see really good ryu’s do, like the l.SRK in to ultra. And actually now that I think about it you didnt throw many fireballs. you gotta use them things to zone me out, and make it hard to get in on you.
Your Rufus was pretty good too, but you only used him once, so i can’t really comment on him. Overall you’re a good challenge and will get better with practice. I’d keep working on balrog as he was the character that was giving me the hardest time in our set, and once you get that execution down you’ll be a beast with him.
thanks and good games. I will dedicate a little more time to ryu/rufus. But I’m for sure going to work on my rog. Your bison was good and you made good use of specials and footsies. Your akuma was not bad either, you air fireball at good times and made great use of that tool. The only thing i can really say is jump in a little less with both characters. For your Bison i like how you cancel the head stomp into the falling fist thing, but go for the headstomp a little more because there were times you could of hit me. For akuma just work on bnb’s, but thats about it. ggs
First of all, sorry I only got 4 matches. I had fragments of a few others, but these were the only complete ones I got thanks to a nearly dead camcorder battery. Also, the video quality is pretty lame, despite my best efforts. And I replaced the audio b/c I didn’t want people hearing half a conversation.
On to the feedback. First, it seems that you need to work on ultra setups. Your wake-up ultras just weren’t working. Also, you barely punished any of my hurricane kicks w/ Ryu. You should watch out for the hurricane when you teleport. I’m sure you know, but you can crouch or just hit me with almost anything when I throw out a hurricane from full-screen. Your anti-air is pretty solid. And you threw me quite a bit. You also combo’d the super and ultra a few times, and that does pretty massive damage. When you were able to keep me zoned, you did really well.
