SRK Training Team (XBL)

Me (Ryu) vs Silly Goose (Abel and Boxer) 15-4

Can’t really remember your other characters to well. Compared to your Balrog they were slower and didn’t seem to sure of what you wanted to do or how to approach.

-Balrog-

My best suggestion would be to throw alot more you never tried to throw me once. You do alot of TAP but I guess that’s ok if no one is hitting you out of it.

Other than that I can’t really think of nothing other than when you get a knock down get some safe jump in mix ups going on and set up that throw game more. You definitely got better as we went farther in games cause you stopped using TAP as much (since I started SRK’ing you out of the them).

I’ll post the vids up when I get done converting and uploading.

edit
Sorry for crap advice everyone but I don’t know match ups very well.

-Abel-
No real advice other than use his command throw more cause I shouldn’t pressure you with throws
Other than that I was frikken lost during those matches lol

Me and Luken27 (Sho 7 Gu n God) ran it back and did a best of 3 set. This time I recorded it:

Comments
1:29 - Sick combo.
2:10 - Very nice tech.
3:26 - You land these Focus Attacks on me all day. Always followed up with the nice combo, though you missed the links in these matches more then you did the first time.
6:06 - :nono: … :bgrin:
7:02 - This miss was killer, literally.

Advice is well appreciated!

Just got back yesterday from a short vacation. I’ll be updating all the points and roster and all that good stuff.

Just a note that I think many people will be removed for no activity. This will help clear the list and only keep the people around that are posting up comments and vids for each other.

I have a lot of stuff to catch up on at work as well so it might not be for another day or two, but I’ll get everything done.

How was the tournament from last week? Did that end up going down?

vs Ninja CW, Martin Rob, Eye Love SF4, Shirase Akira

Respectively
Thanks alot for posting videos. It lets me see all the mistakes I made. I make a list just from watching a few.

I rolled way to much with Abel. Sadly he doesn’t have to many safe ways to get in with his slow walk speed. I missed super combo chances. I didn’t command throw enough when you were on offense. Everytime I tried when I was on offense you would neutral jump. I finished CoD too many times when you were blocking. I missed my Ultra Combo due to poor execution.

I used TAP excessivesly. I’m glad you started punishing me for them later since its a bad habit I’m trying to break. I missed a few BnB’s with him as well.

Oh and you have to teach me some of that Viper stuff. I been messing around with her.
Martin Rob
You’ve improved drastically. Especially since the 1st time we played. I can’t remember too well what you did wrong. (I honestly think I fought no one other than Ryu yesterday) You have alot of options to deal with my Dash and Turn Punches.
Here’s a nice list for you. Neutral jumps beats both and leaves me open. Dragon punch beats both and leads to an Ultra. Crounching medium kick and punch stop both as well. You can throw me after blocking TAP. You can focus absorb my dash punches.
I wish I recorded my fights with eyelovesf4 he neutral jumps and focuses alot. Making me think twice about spamming specials. Where Ninja cw on the other hand keeps me at bay with crouching medium kick and punch. There are fights with me and Ninja CW so I advise you to check them out

EyeLoveSF4
Annoying fights for me as usual. Having to think about every dash punch I throw out. Even though you didn’t fall for any of my resets I still got the better of you. Sorry its hard to remember what you did wrong with all the ryus i fought yesterday. I do remember you neutral jumping and focusing alot.

**Shirase Akira **(Yet another ryu)

Pretty bold stlye. Stopping Dash Punches and TAP’s on reaction with dragon punches. I love that you’re brave enough to do that. Beware of bait thought. I noticed you werent actually reacting to my punch. more like you would do it if i even flinched. You started using low forward as well which stops me in my tracks. don’t throw it out carelessly or ill punish with S.Roundhouse

Sorry for getting your feedback up so late. I will talk about your Ryu, since he was definitely your strongest character.

The biggest thing I can say about your game is work on applying pressure/rushdown. There were a good number of times where you had me scrambling but then you kind of backed off and turtled. Not that turtling is bad, but keeping the pressure on is pretty important when you have the momentum.

Something else to think about is your use of the ultra. There were a few times when you landed a level 2 focus on me (when you had ultra), but then went for a combo instead. Take every chance you get to land an ultra as they are far more damaging than a standard combo and you never know if you’ll have another chance that round to use it. Also, there a few times when you traded lp SRK with my jump in. You can actually land the ultra here after you recover, so again, another chance for big damage.

I would also try to use throws/tick throws more. They are a usefull mixup and I don’t think you threw me all that often.

Thats all I can remember at the moment.
Good games by the way, I had fun. Most of them were pretty close. Looking forward to more matches.

Vs AssassinSxCR33D

You’re skill is pretty solid, man.

For your Ryu,
-Use hadoukens more. I wasn’t really get any pressure from you. To be more specific, learn the timings. Try not to be predictable with them.
-Your defensive play was REALLY good. But your offensive, not so great.
-You posted on your weaknesses that you need to work on your zoning and i agree with you on that.
-Use the “hard” combos. Like linking :lp: and :hp:, stuff like that. It’ll really come in handy. I can’t really remember if you used them or not but still, use 'em more often.

For your Ken,
-You must use the pokes!! Towards the end of our battles you bearly started using them. When you did though, i felt a lot of pressure(especially in the corner).
-Use tatsumaki combos(Inoue vs Aiku, percfect example). Not that many Kens use it but when they do, it hurts.

Hope this helps!!!

vs Silly Goose (FinalGoose)

Abel
You stopped rolling since yesterday. When we started, you missed 2-3 ultras from c.fp, but you connected every attempt after that. Good use of f.mk dash.

Viper
One of your main problems is your predictability. That c.mk xx knuckle became predictable. Also, you did hit me w/ several overheads, but I think they cost you more than they were worth. I think you would’ve done better if you’d used her seismo more. She seems to be your weakest char by far.

Balrog
You exploited my inability to block the overhead with great success. I don’t remember you missing even one headbutt to super/ultra.

Yeah, I definitely need to work on this matchup. I’ll improve my reaction dps and stuff every TAP you throw at me next time

Also, I know I played your Rufus a few matches yesterday, but can’t really remember much about it. Anyway, ggs. I’m still working on execution and I’ll pay particular attention to the Balrog matchup while practicing.

i know my offense wasn’t so great my rush down is my biggest problem, and heard its best to be offensive with a viper. Viper is one of the match ups that i have a very hard time with. You are no exception. You knew how to use cviper like she is supposed to. your mix ups were great. i guess the only thing i have to say to work on is not doing the thunder knuckle on wake up often. i can’t say much since you were all over me. So i will be sparring with you more often to build my match up with viper.

yea, i know i can do ultra and ex-hado with shoryuken trade, its something i have to work on.I for sum reason don’t pay attention to my meter much so when i get with a focus attack, i guess i missed it. But anyways good feedback, and i definatley had fun.

Blanka/Ryu/Chun-Li vs Ryu
GG’s. Sorry it took a while to critique. The main thing I have to say is to work on your execution on combos and stuff (I need to work on this, too). Other than that, you had a really solid game.

Against my Blanka:
I think this is the character you struggled most with. I got you with my mixup. Tech more throws and watch out for sweeps, which I think I got you with a few.Once, when I was in the corner and you blocked my ball, you intelligently ultrad it…I completely forgot about that, so gj on that.

Against my Ryu:
I think it was pretty even, except you got the better of me every close match. You AAd me every opportunity and got me w/ that throw mixup once.

Against my Chun-Li:
I don’t know why, but I felt that I couldn’t really do anything. Might be because of you’re zoning, so nice work on that. You also remembered to not throw any non full screen hadoukens when I had ultra, which I sometimes get people w/ at least once.

GGs.

vs. Ninja CW’s Ryu

Not sure there’s much to critique. Some very solid games.
My games, not so up to par (execution and some better patience being a couple of my issues in those matches, I think).

Just a lot of trouble getting around your Ryu. Good stuff.

vs alex6x6x6

yeah you played well, but since you dont play the game then…
well if you do decide to ever pick it up again, i can say that your boxer needs more agressevness with normals. Your blanka was nice but try to use hop thing a bit more, over all for some one who quit you did well.

so yeah…

Overall, I felt I got away by not getting fully punished by overheads that you land. Just an execution problem just like me.

Some of the pokes you throw like st.HK are somewhat predictable which helped me land some FA’s for big damage. Hopefully, we’ll run into Charlie again this Sat and you should definitely watch to see how he pressures the opponent. I’m confused as hell when I played him.

I didn’t feel that pressured for most of the matches. Again, bait out my SRK more during your strings even if they hit. Let me know that you are capable of that so I don’t mash out an SRK on you. If I see I’m benefiting more that being punished, I’ll continue to use them. The fact that I have that option makes it harder for you to pressure me.

Although you generally make an attempt to tick throw. You should definitely implement it a little more or at least change the times you do it. The walk up cr.lp, walk up cr.lp, walk up throw is kinda predictable. Mix that up with a cr.HK from afar to punish me for attempting to tech. Mix up when you throw. Ie: after jump in, after first blocked jab, second blocked jab, etc.

vs Frylock252 (PachiAfro)

Very fun matches.

Bison
Nice pressure. It was hard to do anything, especially when in the corner and you were using hk to keep me there. I need to work on this match quite a bit.

Rufus
Nice cross-up dive kicks and combo’ing into ultra. Just watch out as you jumped at me several times only to be greeted by a dp super/ultra.

Chun-Li
I still can’t get past your pokes. Your aggression and mix-ups are difficult to overcome, but at least I was able to win a few matches this time.

vs Silly Goose (Final Goose)

vs your Abel

He’s a good contending character that i think you can develop very well if you apply more time into learning how to space your opponent, and tick throw more.

Also, once the first hit is blocked, against a good, high level player, you want to stop doing that 3-hit combo (the one where you flip the person on the other side on the last move). You have to get a better AA reaction and i’ve noticed the high level players with Abel don’t ever let me jump, either they focus attack or they AA.

Your combos were badass! Good stuff, fun fight but you should consider adopting the attack and damage approach and escape until time runs out. Somehow Abel is insanely good at running away.

vs C.Viper
You want to main her? Seriously you can make her lethal, and we both saw how devastating her combos can become. She can do lots of damage and has some good moves that are safe on block. Try to just get a feel for where the player is and fake that seismoid attack often to give your opponent that feeling of doubt. You’re getting much better at the cross-screen combo into ultra. Keep pressure when you have someone in the corner…look at online videos. One thing i think most C. Vipers do is constantly go on the offensive, they hardly stand around waiting for someone to try and cross them or wait to AA…most of the time they’re high jumping and doing that overhead kick >> Flame Kick to keep pressure on opponent. It’s pretty ruthless, try to be more aggressive with her imo.

vs Balrog

Obviously your best character. He’s got good pokes and you tend to make good use of that. One of the issues you may have whenever I do win is you become a bit predictable. Also you don’t mix up enough with throws, you should always leave your opponent guessing. You like to crouch alot, which is good, but also leaves you open to some good crossups (your punch AA is good against Ken but i’m not sure if it will be good against all other chars?)

Great combos, good links, always getting ultra from headbutts, even supers. You like to jump in a few times too which can be great, but sometimes i wonder if i played Ryu or Sagat, if that wouldn’t be very punishable.

Otherwise, your Rog is pretty badass… “That’s how i roll!”
