SRK Training Team (XBL)

Aw man, i wanted to join the Tournament 08/07/09. :crybaby:

Is there another bracket starting or when’s the next tournament?!

I’ll let everyone know when brackets for tournament 3 start forming. Probably about halfway through tournament 2. This is all still very new, so I don’t have any real time lines that I can give out.

Have you considered having this moved to the main forum instead of the Ryu board? From what I’ve seen on our list, most of us play Ryu, and it’d be nice to have some more diversity in this so we can train against all the characters in order to improve our match ups.

word up! damn i just noticed this was in the RYU department. No wonder there’s so many on player list.

maybe the Xbox matchmaking forum might be better.

does anyone wanna get some games in? ive gone pretty much down that entire list on the 1st page, hit up the irc channel and have come up dry. The people that were online on the list either didnt respond or didnt want to play right now. Im on live right now so if ANYONE wants to play hit me up. i guess ill go back to my first love, crack…er, i mean marvel.

I can’t believe I missed this. I wanted to join the tournament. Maybe next time.

Anyway, I get off work soon, and I should be online in about an hour. Anyone want to play, just add me and send me an invite.

Very good games. I really can’t say much for improvement since I’m not really an expert with Gouken or Abel. However, I’m thankful for the RSF tip.

**vs KumaOso **

i dabble with fuerte a bit cause he gives me problems so i wanted to kinda learn him a bit, so i got some suggestions for u there. i didnt feel very pressured from him. gouken cant do too much to fuerte on wakeup cuase he has no real good wakeup game. you scored quite a few knockdowns on me that you could have done more with. But, maybe its just cause u arent familiar with gouken. you might benefit with a little more mixups with your splash, tortilla, etc. game. i pretty much was able to figure out what you were going do do, but unfortunately when i would jump it would be straight up and not away, so you were able to still normal grab me when i landed. i hope that hand placement tip helps you out RSF is tough though.

Against your chun, i dont know her that well, but basically you played pretty standoffish which from what i have read isnt really chun’s game plan. especially against gouken, apply that pressure. My plan against chun is to keep her out, your plan should be to stay in. she is a pain in the ass when i cant get her off me. also, you didnt do hardly any tick throws, you may want to use those with chun, they seem to work pretty well.

Yea, I was thinking about the Xbox matchmaking forum. Would need a mod to move it though. I don’t really mind it hanging out in the Ryu forums though. Still need some time to see how this is going to work and how labor intensive it’d be for me to keep up with it.

Also, it’d get trolled like crazy in the “main forum”.

umm you rarely headbutt to ultra which could’ve won you many rounds. you also abused headbutt a lot in which i was able to bait it half the time and knew when it was coming. Besides that i dont really remember much else from our matches so thats all i can give you.

Another thing guys, when posting up your feedback, I’m seeing a lot of feedback like… “I don’t know what to say, you were beating me.”

I think a more constructive feedback would be explain what exactly it was they were doing that you weren’t used to that defeated you.

Something like:
*I was punished very hard for each mistake I made which led me to play more conservatively and defensively and also gave you momentum and freedom to mount new attacks.
*
or

I wasn’t used to your character being so close to me. I felt a constant rain of pokes and block strings that made me felt trapped.

I’m not sure if guys are just being nice or what, but most say my fireball game has been decent. I wasn’t even aware that was my strongest point. By other people explain to me what got them the most confused, it has helped me analyze my own game to see what works, what doesn’t, and possibly why.

Bottom line is that main point of this thread is to give feedback for your opponent so they can get a different point of view on their game.

But it was so cool when I landed my first cross up Tatsu to Super.

That’s why I prefer the 10 point system. Find ten holes and/or things that gave you a hard time so it can be worked out. Playing in this camp has taught me a lot more that I would have learned playing championship mode, because I instead of just quickly dealing with a match I’m analyzing what’s going on and writing it down.

It’s an over all improvement when you pick something apart because it teaches you how.

damn it…why did my xbox get the red rings of death…I’m missing out in so many fights…damn my Akuma is going to be sloppy when I get my 360 back…please post some videos of some fights so I can atleast put my input in some of you guys characters…thanks.

good games, pretty decent chun man. I could tell that you were very unfamiliar with gouken, but with that, i was unable to land even land one of my normal demon flip mixups on you. you did a pretty good job adapting to my playstyle. IE: when i demon flip and the things i do from it. you started out not putting a lot of pressure on me, but as our matches went on you started being more pokey and doing more blockstrings which cause me more trouble later on. i think if you can get your combos down a little better you will be much more successful. for example i think its c.jabx3 then standing fierce. you hit me with that A LOT of times, but it never fully connected. that could have added up to some serious damage over the match. i think you should let up on the non-garunteed ultras a bit. i know that you can fake out people with empty moves then ultra right after, but it looked like you tried that when i was not in a good range and i was able to get out of it. Those ultras cost you many of our matches. another thing that was working on me was you would jump i liked to focus and decide whether i was gonna let the attack hit me or dash back. many of the times you did chun’s target combo which beat my focus everytime. I kept telling myself to stop that but i never did, it worked good. idk what else to say, ggs.

ughhh the balrog mirror lol. this is like the most annyoing match in the game haha
you just have to play extremely patient. i noticed you would AA with headbutts.
headbutts arent really reliable as an AA. balrog has a beastly AA low fierce. start using it more
another thing that will help out in this matchup is do jump back fierce. ]
it stuffs pretty much anything rog can do. and if they do an exRU you can ultra them when you land.
Balrog vs honda is another turtle fest lol. i can punish jab headbutt with super
so dont do that. and start using his AA more. but other than that really fun games.
oh and STOP MASHING JAB lol when i start doing divekick shennagins. it doesnt help.
jump back fierce should get the job done.

chickeny dinner vs reelsmartkid

ggs nice ryu. you would do some random shoryus that got punished.
so lay off those. you would also sit on alot of meter. ryu can hit confirm
low forward into super so learn that. i didnt see you land ultra once.
after jab dp AA you can ultra after you land a shoryu you can FADC ultra.
good AA game. but other than those points just work on your execution.
oh and one more thing ryu has the best pokes in the game.
start using them more to. with that aside ggs man.

I hate rog mirror matches, dash straight, block, dash straight. Very consistent with the combos. I got do better at AA but your jump ins were good. My sumo headbutts werent coming out and I threw way too many random HBs out. Good use of the rush down with rufus. Good use of the dive kicks, didn’t know a dive kick beats Hondas Ultra =(. Very solid player overall, glad to be whooped tho.

Juicy Mackin

Good zoning and use of AA. I think you can FB off a srk with akuma, you never did that move. Got the basic bnb combos for akuma. Work on your footsies, I was tripping you alot. I’m not sure if you were trying to bait with the focus. Your sagat must be your alt, seems like you were firing random things out. You just FB spam with sagat. Nothing really else. Overall GG.

Going to try and knock this out…

vs jdeez42

umm your rog was cool…woulda been better if you rushed more and I’m sure you know by now that turn around punch only works at medium range so you should watch it…i was purposely baitin it so i could shry you…your headbutts are also predictable…and i wasnt really able to punish because i obviously suck…however you did throw in some unexpected overheads which fucked me over…you also constantly swept me out my focuses…good shit

your honda…im guessing you dont use much…you were way too predictable…instead of jumping over my fb u should’ve nuetral jumped and made me come to you…and you literally didnt grab me once(when i used akuma) which made things even more predictable…and try not to get ur headbutts baited by demon flips…i only did it once but other akumas might do it more

I’m still horrible on stick. A lot of those SRK’s weren’t on purpose. Some of them were because I have a bad habit since I’ve been trying to learn arcade stick of missing a move, and then continually trying the same move over and over trying to figure out how I input it wrong when it didn’t come out the first time. Didn’t ultra again because I couldn’t execute on stick. I kinda quit trying cr. mk cause I couldn’t get a fireball to come out, and sometimes an SRK would accidentally come out. I should probably stay away from Training Team matches until I get my stick execution worked out.

I don’t have too many criticisms for you, maybe too many unsafe jump in dives with rufus, and too many jump ins with Balrog (although this was probably only because I wasn’t punishing any of them!). You did a good job keeping me in the corner when I got there and doing high damage. GG’s.
