The chance of any player getting picked for Mafia is 1/30. I’d say it’s just as likely that Soviet and I are both mafia as it is you and I are both mafia.

Announce? The game technically starts when everyone receives their role. The planned starting time is Monday (6/3/13), but I will have the roles assignment ready by then and I will likely going to have the game start a tad bit early.
